    I just finished building the 57 Ford 2 in 1 kit a week ago for a co-worker for his father for Father's day so a lot of the parts are real familiar to me. The build went super together easily except for when I went to put the body on the chassis. The rear end is boxed off so it took a lot of massaging to get the body on but the plus was it fits so tight no glue was needed. I see the Gasser version is the same.

    • @hpiguy

      A smooth build.
      I slid the back up and in first, then closed it like a clam shell.

    I enjoy your builds. You make the painting process very simple and straight forward, the fact that you must have a steady hand because your great attention to detail makes the models pop nicely. Big thumbs up!

    A cool model I can see as a model of the second '57 Ford as used in the movie 1958 "Thunder Road", with Robert Mitchum. Robert Mitchum's character, Like Doolin has a highway dual with Kogan's henchman and driver driving a Black '57 Ford. Thank you again, as after watching your excellent video, I'll be buying this kit.

    That Gasser came out great. Nice detail I love your builds and spin. I did my 57 Gasser and installed the Revell 427 Ford chrome engine accessory kit. I de-chromed it with purple power. I used the blown version and cut a hole in the hood. Found some 427 decals and it looks real cool.

    I swear, you are the best plastic guy anywhere. All of your plastic kits, when finished, look just like diecast cars. I got to wonder how big is your spare parts box getting?

    • @hpiguy
      @hpiguy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!
      I don't save everything but it's got about 30 sprues in it and about two dozen tires. I recycle anything I don't think I'll ever use.
      I have bunches of sheets of decals though, those always get used at some point so I never throw spare decals out.

    • @garyparker2969

      I'm Curious Chris,, in What Way do You "Recycle" Your Parts ?? Trade/Sell ??

    • @hpiguy
      @hpiguy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As in recycle bin, so they can be made into a new model. I don't have the space or time to store everything left over, just the stuff I have a good chance of using.

  • @1320gearhead
    @1320gearhead 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    You make building models look so easy. I know I take a hell of alot longer to build a kit. I don't usually use spray cans so it takes a while for me to brush paint everything.

    • @hpiguy
      @hpiguy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man!
      There is no right speed or anything to make a model.
      As long as you are having fun that's all that matters. Enjoy the hobby and build for yourself, your way.

  • @NicksCollectableCreations
    @NicksCollectableCreations 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Funny that yellow Willy's in the box art, I have that model. I built it as a hot rod instead of a gasser back in the mid 90's and a kit where everything opens up which you do not see anymore. Used a 53 corvette grill on it, fit perfectly too. This kit looks really nice and it too feels like a good kit to do a hot rod or "resto mod" as is coined now days.

    Turned out beautiful. After a 55 year hiatus, I started building models again thanks to following you. I have a lot of techniques to learn. When you paint parts on the trees, how do you cover bare spots when part is removed from tree? Also I have a paint booth ordered. How does filter hold up, when using spray cans? At my age (70), don't want to start learning airbrushing techniques. Thank you.

    • @hpiguy
      @hpiguy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have to change the filter every 6-8 kits.
      I use aquarium blue floss, works great and is cheap in rolls.
      I touch up the sprue spots with some paint from the can sprayed in a cup and dabbed on.

    This is awesome.
    You should build a garage intirior - great for the vehicle lift and tow trucks you have - and you could pain up some of the spare parts you have and have them on display as 'parts' for the vehicles that need repair.
    Would be awesome

    Love the Spring Green and the white two tone look Chris ! I think a two tone paint job always looks best on any 1950's car. I have only built one Gasser to my credit. It was an older kit from Revelle. It was a 55 Chevy Bel-Air Gasser even though the box didn't say it was a Gasser. I definitely want to build more Gassers. I hope one day Revelle re-issues the 55 Chevy Gasser I had maybe with some new tooling and extra goodies or something, because believe it or not, someone stole my 55 Chevy Gasser from my collection.

    SWEET 57' Gasser! I'm so impressed with that kit and the version you built here Chris, I just bought one on eBay right before posting my comment.
    I have the wagon version and the AMT 57' Ford Hardtop "Flashback" kit. Both are still in the box on my shelves with the rest of my modest collection of kits until I get around to building those.
    My current project is a 1/25 scale Peterbilt "California Hauler" with the AMT lowboy trailer and the new release of AMT's bulldozer kit by Round2 models but the re-release doesn't say "Caterpillar" cuz I guess there was a copyright issue from my understanding.
    I have two custom kits for the Peterbilt, the AMT chrome Mercury sleeper and I got the Italeri truck accessories kit that has the hydraulic boom that is mounted behind the sleeper. I had to cut and extend the frame of the Pete to get all of that to fit but it all worked out I have one seriously mean lookin' heavy hauler rig with the lowboy and bulldozer for a sweet looking model kit.

    Very good review Chris! While Gassers are not my type of building, I can certain appreciate the detail and techniques you use to build yours! 👍
    ‘57 Fords are one of those cars I can remember seeing when I first knew what a car was (early ‘60’s). A next door neighbor had one and I always thought the car had the appearance of looking up at you with those headlight “eyebrows”. 😁
    Thanks for the review and now I’ll have to look out for this kit as I’d like to build the stock one sometime.

    Nice Job, man! Absolutely LOVE this, and the wagon version as well.. VERY nicely made kits that practically "fall together"! Kudos to Revell on that! I'm personally, building both versions, atm... Made the sedan a gasser with a few extras (GMC 6-71 blower on it and some other mods), and working on making the wagon more of a stock "beater" that will be flat towing the gasser to & from the track. Not sure where you're from, but, I'm planning to bring the combo to NNL east this upcoming spring.
    Thanks again! My 6 yo son and I REALLY enjoy watching your reviews and builds!
    edit: just read your video description... Thought I'd add that '57 was also the first year for that big, bad Ford 9" rear end.
    Pretty crazy with the seat belts, huh? LoL
