@arumdevil sure did mate. A the lower point the pedal fouls on the bumper and pushes the bikes away from the car. At the high point the bike can hang veritcally, but the pedal just fouls on the bootlid itself. The product had me sold on it's brilliant clamp to the towball system, but once put into practice it was deemed useless for the previously mentioned reasons.
I ended up getting a 3x carrier with a higher load rating and much greater clearance for the same price, $140AUD.

How safe is it, how does it not moving sideways on the tow ball

Ford Falcon, very very common car :D You can't have the bike the 'wrong' way round. The pedals stick out the same distance each side. Spin the crank so the pedal is up the top, his the boot, spin it down, hits the bumper enough to push the bike away. Problem with this carrier was there is no 'offset' in that it's vertical pole is in line with the tow ball - as that's what it mounts to; then the first bike is butted right up against the end of the carrier. Sorted with a different model :D

@superhornet81 did you try moving the pedal?

I guess it depends partly on the model of car and the type of towbar fitted, but I can't help thinking you had the bike the 'wrong' way round (forgive me if I'm wrong). Consider if you have the pedal low, and it hits the bumper - if you turned the bike around and had the other pedal low - pointing away from the car, then surely there's enough space between pedal & window with the bike being on far side of the frame? Unless your rear window is totally vertical I can't see it being a problem.

How about a video of it with two cycles fitted, and show people how much clearance there is / isn't between the pedals, and the boot and bumper. Bought this today, found it useless even for one bike, no choice but to take it back. 30kg max too.. Bugger.

I've got one of these but haven't used it yet, how do I stop the bike slamming into the car under braking?

Try learning to drive. If it's gonna be that heavy breaking the bikes will be the least of your problems
