Hey Pat! Yes, Napoleon III gifted the Iron Pavilion to King Norodom in 1876. Though there is no evidence of that. It was originally built in 1869 for the Inauguration of the Suez Canal but was shipped to Cambodia in pieces. It wasn't designed with Cambodia's climate in mind though. King Norodom considered Napoleon III his father. Since the Name Napoleon and Norodom started with a "N" there wasn't a need to alter that on the building. great video. Love the history. Love, Mom
I believe your date is correct. I lived in PP when he became king. His excellency frequented a restaurant across from where I lived. This was a massive celebration!
This reminded me of my childhood way back in early 1960s as we always went to see the Royal Palace and Water Festival around every November. Only memory lives on. Have a great time with your family. Happy fall from Minnesota 🎉

I would have thought the Cambodians would have gotten rid of the monarchy after the fiasco that was Sihanouk.
He’s trying to get rid of it, that’s why he didn’t have any kids.
Long live pol pot forever bro anniversary celebration Khmer Rouge day 💕🌚
