Bill Bowman, MVP Baseball Director of recruiting and former professional baseball player and scout talks about the difference between present day college baseball coaches and those from 10-15 years ago. Todays baseball coaches are recruiting student-athletes with the emphasis on student first. The player that does well in the classroom also will do well on the baseball field. He also reviews what criteria college coaches use in grading a player.

Had a coach tell me not to just play baseball but still participate in other sports because scouts look at how well of a team player you are... Is that true?

No, it's not "student first". Who are you kidding? These coaches don't keep their jobs if they don't win. They want good baseball players that can stay off academic probation.
