I have a pair of JBL Century L-100s that I bought at a yard sale for $20.00. Although one of the speakers has a blown mid-range speaker , they work very well in my audio shop. I use AR-3a speakers in my main system. These were the top two brands for "bookshelf" speakers in the late 60s to the early 70s. I have to say that I never had "bookshelves quite large enough to accommodate these speakers.

I have a pair of L220s. I have yet to find a pair of speakers that sound as good. I bought them in 1979, I still have them. The only thing done to them were refoamed. Maybe some day they will make speakers like this agian.

His mission was great success, I love and use JBL speakers every day. Nothing like the vintage stuff though.Made to a standard not a price. Used to mix many albums that made history particularly in the 1960's and the 1970's. JBL and The Beatles- I rest my case.

It's sad that we are probably not going to see anything substantial from JBL in the future. Harman Kardon, the corporation that owns JBL, fired chief engineer Greg Timbers last year (in a very rude manner for someone of his caliber). Mr. Timbers was the heart and soul of JBL for 43 years (!) and the man behind all the legendary JBL speakers of the past 4 decades, from the world famous 43xx series to the Everest. One of the few people on this planet who has encyclopedic knowledge about speaker technology combined with a very good ear. And those idiots fired him. The way in which Harman Kardon is heading leads to more stylish cheap lifestyle modern plastic bluetooth whatever speakers that teenagers and people who have no clue about Hi-Fi can find at BestBuy. Looks like the management only cares about quick profit and completely forgot that having a line-up of world-class speakers makes your brand something unique and memorable. I fear that the great days of JBL are over, as Harman will put the JBL logo on alls sorts of meaningless stuff until most consumers realize that it doesn't stand for anything worthwhile any more. Finally, when the profits go below a critical point, the brand will cease to exist.

Man I LOVE my JBL S3VC's JBL S2C's and my recent additions of JBL SAM3VA all SYNTHESIS speakers. Love how the horn implementation adds extreme high decibel listening while retaining audiophile quality sound

JBL is as 'American classic' as apple pie and Ford! I have a pair of HLS-610 bookshelf speakers, optimally placed, and the sound is fantastic! I love the horn sound to begin with. I cannot imagine what higher end JBL speakers must sound like! I have Magnepan MG12s, classic Polk Monitor 10's (when Polk was a true high-end company in the 80's), AVS studio monitors. Can't wait to buy some truly high end JBL one day soon! I love experimenting with speakers, and mixing/matching equipment to see what 'synergy' i'm getting!

I own an original pair of JBL Cabaret Series 4690A's that I mainly used for DJ purposes back in the 1980's and 90's. Still in great operating condition.
