This discrimination update should have brought specific laws for certain countries like the Ottomans, China, etc where the standard citizenship laws kinda fall short of representing how it functioned and evolved in those countries.
It could have been very well taken care of by making Ottomans for example start with racial discrimination and freedom of consience. It would at least somewhat represent how muslims and nonmuslims were treated. I mean take Mehmed Ali Pasha for example, a man who is Turkish from the dad side and Albanian from the mothers side became the Khedive of Egypt. Or multiple generals and other figures who were serbian, bulgarian etc. But in the current state of the game Albanians can barely become soldiers and low strata state workers. If they wanted to add stuff but not too much, they could just give certain religions different state religion laws where it accurately displays the situation in Sunni and Budhist countries.
I know you're supposed to build up construction sector goods, but actually, building up the most basic goods for your pops is SO powerful. don't underestimate the big spike in pop purchasing power that comes from them having a high standard of living

7:42 A little correction on Devshirme system, Ottomans didn't continue the system for 500 years. They started it by 1412 and the system was stopped in 1648. That is about 250 years and the janissaries were their strongest when they were chosen from Devshirme system. After 1648 most of the Janissary core were Turkmens. By 1826, the whole Janissary system was abolished after the Sultan bombarded their headquarters because they were a nuisance. Not writing this to criticize, just because as a Turk I feel obliged to lol
There is a stall bug and they are working on the fix. "Currently the stall chance for enacting laws does not account for contributions from radicalized movements, potentially leading to higher actual stall chances than shown."
The game is only bearable right now if you dont use higher taxes and stick to medium taxation. My first playthrough as france with high taxes at the start had me going through constant revolutions...
Just tried to do the same kinda game. By 1860, I managed to have 30 GBP, public school, colonization, laissez faire, racial segregation. Conquered nearly all Ethiopia and now waiting to fully annexe égypt ( i did not go further than Sinaï, i recommend not to do same as me, it later takes longer to annexe egypt by diplomatic way with much more infamy) All my ottoman game was kind of "meh" before this update. Must admit this Dlc changed the ottoman in the right way

@@MZ-qj8yi just wait and join a war where Russia is involved. They won't be able to join a war against you while you are fighting on the same side. Works for UK when going to argentina or south africa (in which there is almost 25 gold mines, i was nearly the nb1 gold producer that's insane)
It surprises me that the Ottomans start on national supremacy. I thought they were a pan-Sunni islamic government until the late 19th century when secularisation and nationalism movements caught on.
Nationalist(?) and reformist movements started with Sultan Mahmud II. Who is the ruler of Ottomans at the starting date of Vic3. So it is normal I think.
It was possible to see reforms and changes until Abdulhamid II, but still, the Ottoman nationalism was based on the Young Turks, there was no such thing in the sultans and state policies During the long reign of Abdulhamid, the country completely shifted to pan-Islamism and the caliphate was used as a prestige(which wasnt effective lol) At the beginning of the 20th century, many people were fed up with the sultan things were happened annd what we can consider as nationalist "Ittihat ve Terakki" took over the country and make the sultan just symbolic
