Great review Christine, the top function on the 3rd button on the bottom row is a condensed stitch, it can be used instead of a backtack, it will sew a few stitches in one spot to reduce unraveling. The other function top of button 6, bottom row is your nipper, this is the small grey device your thread goes through above the needle, this pinches the thread when you start, eliminating the tail of thread, and securing it underneath the sewn item.
Mine says "Welcome your new JACK sewing machine. Wish you a Happy work!" This is my first industrial , so ghe noisy foot doesn't bother me because i dont know any better 😂 These machines are really robustly built. Thank you for the tutorial ❤
Thank you for this. I’m thinking of buying a Jack and this is the first useful video I have seen. You may have convinced me to purchase the same machine!
Thanks for a very informative explanation of your Jack machine. I have recently purchased a H6 . You have helped educated me about a few things items on the machine.
Hello from North Wales UK . Thank you for taking time to show us about this machine, I have had one for almost a year and love it, after my ancient industrial died and I tried a few domestic machines. I have been trying to get information on this machine but they are patchy so you are my go to lady! I’m too scared to press any buttons but more confident after your tutorial, and the noise drives me mad but I’m learning to block it out, I have tried putting sponge under the treadle and everywhere it’s metal to metal , so you have educated me that it’s a manufacturer blunder. Xxxxx
It's very difficult to get tutorials on this brand Jane. I purchased the coverstitch last week, and plan on doing videos for that too. Mostly so I have a reference when I forget what to do😁
I loved your tutorial. It was very informative and you did a great job showing everything the machine can do. I make mostly quilts with my machine. I don't do a lot of quilting, but have wanted a machine with a deeper throat plate. I do live in the United States. Thanks for taking yor time to show the video. I think the features on that machine are awesome, not sure I could remember how to do them all.
Hello from Aberdeen, Washington State, U.S. WOW; fantastic machine! I now want to set my Brother PQ1500SL on fire. This has been a most enlightening review. Thank you. ❤
Thank you so much Christine, you have helped me no end explaining everything about your machine. I now know what to get in my first industrial machine 😊
Glad it was helpful! Once you get your first, you'll wonder how you ever did without it😀 Give Adam at ProSew a call. He'll help you no matter which state you're in
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Christine, you are correct in that is an electromagnet turning on and off that makes the clunk sound. The new A4F uses a stepper motor to raise the presser foot and reverse sewing which is much quieter, significantly more quiet.
I have an enquiry in at the moment to trade in my Atelier 7 here in Ireland for an A5e. I’m so glad you mentioned the noise element on the A4, that’d drive me mad I think- so thanks again
Brenda, I sond the A4E and also have the A5E. It's still got a noisy solenoid, but you don't notice it after a while. I'm told there is another one that has a stepping motor which is much quieter😁
Interesting and useful review… I’m thinking of getting one of these… interesting upgrade on latest version A4F is a servo driven presser foot, you can electronically set the height and it’s much quieter than the solenoid … looks like excellent value machine
yes Gregory. The A4E and A5E both have the noisy solenoid. I use the A5 all day at the shop. It's not really a problem, and you forget it even makes the noise most of the time😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Great review Christine. Thank you. You have the Jack cover stitch machine as well. Will you be doing a review on that one. Does it have the thread trimmer?
Ann, the coverstitch arrived last week, and I will be doing a review and tutorial on it. Mostly so I have something to refer to when I forget what to do. It does have a thread trimmer. It's amazing, and a very quiet machine too🙂
I have a Singer industrial however so similar to your Jack machine therefore thank you, going thru the steps have been so helpful in further understanding them. I so love sewing with mine (her name is Matilda!).
Haha, Matilda is nice name. I used to name my machines, and my cars, but then I ended up with too many. Perhaps if I start naming them again, they might be kinder to me when I mess up 😁
Really useful Christine, thank you, I've just bought the H6 and information is difficult to come by. Finally figured out what the USB port was for too!!
Ahh, I didn't even consider the firmware. That makes sense. In Summer, I use the USB port to plug in a small fan and mount it on the pole of machine. It would be great for another light too😀
Fantastic review Christine, I must admit watching you use your industrial, I wanted one but just have no room so I purchased a smaller domestic version, it's great, but not as good as yours. Thanks again
Hi Christine , I have just posted on Instagram a small project I did and spoke about my JACK and how helpful your tutorial is , hope lots of people find it helpful too sewingonandon X
Hi Christine , I have this machine and appreciate your time to explain everything. do you know if I can get a walking foot attachment for this machine , I have found walking foot but I think it is only for a walking foot machine . Thanks, Jane
I'm not sure Jane. I think you need the walking foot machine for that. Have you joined the Jack sewing machine page on Facebook? You could ask the question there. You don't have to be in Australia to join 😀
They are quite affordable compared to many industrial machines I have seen. It seems to fulfil all your requirements. I must admit that clunk would do my head in though 😆 Very interesting video, I do like to stickybeak in people's sewing rooms. 😉
Christine, I am so glad for this review.I'm in the market for an industrial so I saw this at the opportune moment. One question though, why didn't you go for a walking foot machine?
Thanks Patricia. When I purchased my machines, I didn't have bag making in mind (other than my shopping totes). I do dressmaking and alterations, so this was the best choice for me. I think I'll be doing a review on a walking foot machine soon, and really hope that I'm not tempted to purchase it. I have too many machines already😁
hi Christine,i have a problem with my new jack...had it 2 days and now I have a computer problem...I tried to find the answers with the online manual however I'm totally lost...my mechanic won't pickup the phone today[its Sunday]it says erra 31 which says its a trimmer strength coefficient[motor force]can you help me?
I like this machine and am thinking to buy it. Can you tell me can you go really slow if you want? Also, is the foot pedal in a comfortable position, because this being in a fixed position I'm not sure if I'll want it where it is, i usually have my machine pedal right out so my leg is stretched right out lol
You can reduce the speen of the machine in it's settings. The foot controller is fixed in place, but slightly adjustable. You will get used to it being where it is. It felt weird for me in the beginning. Now I prefer it that way😁
Really appreciate this review! Do you like how the A5E sews on lightweight fabric? I sew on really lightweight fabrics for a business and find that I get puckering sometimes.
Allessio, I use DB x 1 needles in several different sizes. They're readily available from sewing machine suppliers that sell industrial machines, Ebay, and Amazon😀
Very nice review! But I have some walking foot machine in lack of space. It looks a same table to me. Can I switch juki and jack a4 back and forth? Does that jack have any external computers or anything else?
Leonid, there are no externals on the Jack except for the foot lever, but then the others all have that too. I don't know if they are interchangeable. You'd need the dimensions of both machines, but I expect they'd be the same😀
Oh no!! I'm away visiting family this week Ann. Are you on Facebook? There is a group called Jack sewing machines. It's based in Australia, but they can help you there when you join. I won't be back until the end of the week😁
Hello can you make tulle ruffles on this machine? My old industrial used too before it died by adjusting the needle length and width, basically make a tight stitch too gather the fabric really fast. Wanted too know this prior to purchasing please???
There is no stitch width on this machine. It only goes straight. I keep an old machine in case I need zig zag, but in three years, I've only needed it twice😀
@Christine's Home Affairs Unfortunately they don't speak English very well. And they don't seem to understand the question. But thank you so much for your response.

I love the Jack machine you featured today. I wanted to ask you about it because it looked so cool. Also I’m glad to find out you too feel the need to have more than one single needle to work with. Between the house and the sewing room I wanted another one and my husband made fun of me. It gets pretty cold sometimes and I do like the new ones better than the old ones for sure. That said I was making a joke about the ‘electronics’ on my old ancient single needle. Magnets sure don’t effect that. My new used single needle is a Gemsy a knockoff of the Juki. It has features I have explored and never used. So maybe I should sell the ancient Union special with forward only and buy me a new one. Keeping in mind I still need to be on good terms with the real bread winner. Thank you, you are such an inspiration for me.
Thank you Laverne. After years of being afraid to make the change, I've really enjoyed my new industrial machines. They've saved me so much time. Be good to the real bread winner, and he may just surprise you with a new beauty 🤣

Automatic Industrials machines are noisy.
Nothing can't be done about it.
But I love sewing.
Not the case with the latest machines, they utilise stepping motors for foot lift, backtack /reverse, and presser lift, they are incredibly quiet.
Some newer models are out now that are much quieter Hortencia 🙂
