Wow. Yolanda is very intelligent, smart, well-spoken, positive, she's an impressive speaker. I'm amazed she met Whitney as a teenager. Cool. It would have been nice to hear a duet with her and Whitney. Cece is okay, but Yolanda is superior vocally and she has the strength and stamina to match Whitney's power. Such a shame Whitney was unable to care for and mainatin her voice as Yolanda has.

Great interview Yolanda. We didn't find this out in he moms new book but I didn't think that was the focus of the book. She was a good woman with a problem that she couldn't overcome. Does that make her a bad person? NO. All of us should take a few steps back and look in our own mirror.
See... When people give.. They don't brag about it. They do it in secret. Some are quick to judge others cause they don't know the good they've done. I remember my friend was telling me that, someone brought him lunch or a coffee while at the airport. The person never reveal themselves. I think the cashier told him that someone decided to pay for your lunch. My friend never had the chance to meet the person. That was very nice. It happen to be someone that was passing by at the airport while they were in line. Very nice!
So sad hearing her talk about her daughter Christina doing great things in the future, not knowing she would die the same way a few months later.... :-( Anyway we all pray for you Whitney and Christina that God had forgiven you and you two are together, happy again for all eternity.

@christian Williams Mariah is not a contralto. Compare her voice to the voices of Cher or Anne Murray. She doesn't sound like them. She can go well below C3, but her voice loses its resonance and richness and picks up a breathy tone, which is so uncharacteristic of contraltos. Mariah is a sfogato acuto soprano, which is just a fancy way of saying she's like a coloratura soprano who can sing well above f6.

Some people have freedom in this register, meaning they can navigate this register any time of the day. Others can occasionally tap this register. Most of us, however, don't have a whistle register or can't hit notes in the 6th octave. Trying to hit whistle notes when your voice isn't built to hit those super high notes is a sure way to damage your vocal folds.
@christian Williams The thing about Whitney was she sounded great even in her vocal decline. And when I say vocal decline, I mean years after her Bodyguard Tour, which took a toll on her voice. My Love Is Your Love was my favorite era, and I wish her voice stayed the way it did during that time in her career.
