Hey, I'm glad I stumbled across your video, I watched and enjoyed it from beginning to end..when I was a small boy my Grand Parents had a wood stove to cook on and nothing else..also had an out house, but they modernized not long after that...with inside plumbing and electricity..got rid of their farm horses and got a Tractor,..quit milking by hand and got milking machines.. that was in the early 50's..

We did ours a bit different. Left the salt on a day or so longer and rubbed it in. And we filled out smokehouse up with the hams and hocks, sausages and bacon. And we smoked a day or so longer. Then everything stayed hanging in the smokehouse untill we needed it. Nice video.
Great video. Straight forward, informative and no BS. Wish I lived in an area that had to many wild hogs, but I do know the problem they are for farmers so keep on eating the wild meat.
The cooler salt method probably saves you a ton of salt. Its so cool to come back to these older videos and see how youve improved on things. TH-cam is a wonderful resource for sure
Well said my man. Been making my own bacon and curing pork shoulder since December. Dropped a couple of goolies but its a learning process. They now have come good, boy is it worth the effort. I cant wait to get out of bed for my breakfast.😀😁😀

Although technically it's a Bushpig problem, we call them "Bosvark" - the v is pronounced as an f. I think they're much leaner but they're free for the taking so we won't complain 😁

The way you smoked the wild pig is same with us and the color of wild hog bacon is so beautiful .its so yammy to cook such meat with green pepper &garlic sprouts。BTW I am from china. I have to say that the tongue /ear/organ and foot of pig are more delicious than the meat of pig.well done
I'm a little late to the conversation but I just subscribed to your channel. Really enjoy the content. I wanted to share a hog skinning tip with you. You may already know about it but here it is just in case. Go get a razor knife and put in a hooked roofing blade. Instead of just cutting between the legs and down the belly like normal also make vertical cuts ever 4 or 5 inches all the way around the hog. Basically making hide strips instead of one solid hide. Then peel the hog like you are peeling a banana. Way easier and saves the edge on your skinning knife.

I'm a little late to the conversation but I just subscribed to your channel. Really enjoy the content. I wanted to share a hog skinning tip with you. You may already know about it but here it is just in case. Go get a razor knife and put in a hooked roofing blade. Instead of just cutting between the legs and down the belly like normal also make vertical cuts ever 4 or 5 inches all the way around the hog. Basically making hide strips instead of one solid hide. Then peel the hog like you are peeling a banana. Way easier and saves the edge on your skinning knife.
