    That’s fine work as usual Susan .

    One of the first things I learned as a young carpenter was to raise the table saw blade only slightly higher than the material being cut. Easy to lob a finger completely off with the blade that high. But a great video all the same Susan!

    That's an interesting trick using masking tape and superglue that I've seen suddenly pop up on many videos. It's a top tip which seems obvious once you've seen it once.
    Also, I've just looked though my metric taps and M5 is normally M5 x 0.8 pitch so you were correct.

    Notice that you had some wobble when starting and ending the routing of the slot. That's bad, because it causes the end of the bit to move sideways. You should concentrate on keeping the router steady and following one edge of the guide slot for maximum accuracy.

      The guide was a tight fit in the slot though. There didn’t seem to be any movement

    I love how you fix problems.... (Btw are you going to Wimbledon???)

      I’d love to go to Wimbledon, but tickets are rarer than quartersawn wenge. I don’t fancy camping overnight on Wimbledon common

    Start with wider stock. Route the finished strait slot .Cut the two finished sides on the angle .

      That’s how I did the bridge on my parlour guitar. I didn’t have the luxury of extra width here though.

      Damn thought I invented that .LOl

      I would not like to see the grain out of parallel with the bridge. Although on this curvy design it probably would not be easily seen.

    Now I know why you're named Gardner: you deal with so many bushes.

    Susie, if you get this comment, I have to say, I may be selling my electric mandolin I built about 2 1/2 years. A fellow saw it at a friend's house and just went nuts about it. Before this, I was in the process of building another E mando I

    • @robertshorthill6836
      @robertshorthill6836 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found a chunk of gorgeous rosewood that was too narrow for a fret board, but thick enough to split and bookmatch. I used Gorilla glue to hold it together. I will have a luthier with a CNC cut the fret slots from the StewMac chart. My next E mando should be another knock out.

      I am going to finish on video. I’m moving workshops and it’s taking a while to fit out the new one

    When you use a router, you never remove its part without stopping the machine! Very dangerous

      I’m preparing a new workshop. Lockdowns have delayed work by months. I’m hoping to have it ready soon, although contractors still can’t give me a date for when they can do some work I need - I’m doing most of the work myself but I can’t do all of it. I haven’t filmed any of it as it would have further delayed things.
