Thanks, mate. Wouldn't have gotten it on my own in another 40 years. I like your style and look forward to seeing more. On-screen lettering could be best moved aside...
Good bit on how to pick the strings. As you said the fingering, not the chords, is the hard part. I will add that the C/G/D/Am/Em needs you to hit the C and Am three times each.
Nice one. Can you remember the cartoon pull out in the original MGE with the chords on it? Going to see them at KK's Steel Mill, 24/10/2019 i can't wait.
Nice one I could play Smash it Up Part 1 faultless and perfect except for PART 3, It took me another 30 years to figure it out. I'd watch him and I could never figure it out cos it sounded a bit wrong unless your careful with it. Some guy did it on youtube and I asked him are you sure you got that bit right. He said yeah but i was still unsure. But Your bang on it is the only part of the song which I hate to get to. But great tutorial.
Thanks much appreciated. I'm Still trying to loop it with the bass part but it needs to be shortened to loop it.....work in progress. The live version is better too.
When I said part 3 . I meant part 3 of your tutorial not Smash it up (pt 3:) of the Damned. There were 4 parts in all. Sounds like the Shadows mets Dire straits :) to be honest I hated Smash it Up when I bought it in 79. I prefered Burglar a lot more. Smash it up live is ok but the single was chest pop. Death Disco PIL was more my thing at the time.
how to play this was written on the single sleeve ;-) yep, I'm that old all I remember is the G, 3rd fret top e and b, g string (lol) open and d and a on 5th fret.
I did it by ear and I'm usually very accurate there's more than one way to play the same notes ofcourse the live version it different . I once stood next to the great man having a piss in the dressing room bogs (Mayflower club Manc c 82) " Oi ! you aint supposed to be in ear mate " .. I hope you've still got that sleeve must be worth a few quid !
Great my fav band and your really easy to follow.. Ta very much.

You made this really easy to follow John.Well done.MORE DAMNED PLEASE !?

Nice work John. Best lesson i've seen on this track. Cheers

Someone else has mentioned that, and I'll bet it's worth a few quid now. I've not seen then them live since the mid 80s ! Enjoy the gigs

The Damned!!! Thank you, well done.
For the F chord bit, I play the octave notes with the A and G open!?
Have you noticed part 5 is the same chords as Hey Joe?
Any chance you could do a version where you show the transitions between the parts, and maybe play it all the way through?
I'm gonna do a loop with the bass part soon and a close up of my left hands so that should help. Thanks for your comment
John Dobson I look forward to it
Best ever!!!! Thanks
It's a pleasure Phil
and the end of Part 5 before it picks up is from Tubular Bells:-)
