Yum, yum. I can smell and taste it now, lol! I haven't had Christmas cake in years since I became diabetic. Love it and the marzipan, but was never keen on the icing. I ould pick it off and give it to my hubster- he adores icing. Bet your cake will be amazing. happy baking :-)
Looks yummy Steve! I made a 4 tiered fruit cake for our wedding but with brandy. If you have the time you can soak the fruit and nuts for longer in the alcohol. We used gin to stick down the marzipan and royal icing. Definitely not for kids but we had cupcakes and mini cupcakes too. Fruit cake can last for a couple of years, without the marzipan and icing and the longer you leave it the more mature and boozy it gets! Take care!
Brilliant! Sounds a bit weird but of all the different fruitcake recipes I have concocted, I really do not have a favourite. I'm only going to feed this twice as I don't want my grandkids bumbling around on Boxing Day LOL If I have time this year, I might make my own marzipan again or maybe a nut-free one.
I haven’t made a Christmas cake like this in years. I helped 8-9 years ago when a friend made them for gifts for family. The main difference was she started 6-8 months before. Take care Steve!
Hi Diggy, Is it that bloody time already. 🤣🤣 Cake looks good. I usually make mine first week of December as none of the rest of my family like Christmas cake. Cheers buddy
I enjoyed that! My wife is planning to make our Christmas cake soon! Ours always gets soaked in brandy. She follows Darren McGrady’s recipe from his Eating Royally cookbook. It’s nice to think you are eating the same Christmas Cake that the Queen would have eaten! I’d sure trade a slice of ours for a slice of yours, that cake you made looks delicious!
Hi, you bet me by 3 days to make my Christmas cake, Steve. Looks lovely. Did you take the bottom of the tin away from the cake before you wrapped it.? From NZ.
Ha, I didn't but I realised I'd left it one when I went to do the washing up! Off, now though - very preceptive of you LOL Have a great week down there!

Awkward you - most don't like the marzipan but love the icing LOL I may make a nut-free marzipan this year, we'll see.
Have a great week
Cheers IGG - hope you have a great week over there!
@@DigwellGreenfingers still sick in bed, but beginning to feel human… Thank you.

@@DigwellGreenfingers Ooh that's sounds interesting. Thing i like about fruit cake is you can put in what you like and it lasts for a long time.
@@AnyKeyLady Exactly!
It does look tasty and I can definitely see the Gremlins tearing into that one😄.
I'll have to be careful with the feeding then LOL
Very nice Steve 👍😋
Cheers, hic!

6-8 months WOW - well, they do last a long time!
Have a great week guys

Noooo, make individual ones just for you then!
That and Christmas Pudding love em both. Have a good week mate. TC.
Barry (Wirral)
I'll be making the pud in a month or so Barry. Still trying to work out a new recipe.
Have a great week up there buddy!
Great recipe, love the jest and zuice 😂. Thanks Steve and take care
Glad you enjoyed it, San. One of those things, once you say it, it sticks for ever! Just like: Casting Nasturtiums LOL
Looks delicious definitely giving it a go👍xxx
Hope you enjoy it!
Looks great mate, I would have it with custard i think. Prefer Brandy sauce but would this clash with the whisky? (I like both whisky & brandy) 🤣👍
My Christmas Pudding will be better with custard or brandy sauce.
Not a fan of soggy cake.
Just came over and subscribed after I watched you with Audrey doing a live today. Thats one heckuva fruitcake. Wow!
Kind regards. :0)
Welcome onboard!! HopeI get to share some recipes and gardening tips with you.
Not many herbs in this cake though, only those in the Whisky LOL
@@DigwellGreenfingers That’s okay. 🙂

Maybe King Charles will have the cake this year. Dining with royalty, Klaus!
