Wd40 or deep woods off will remove plexi glass goo. I think you can screw a washer on one side of you observation window to hold window lid in place. Take the removed latch and cut a notch in the inner cover that it will fit to be a vent you can open and close. I get that idea from some inner covers that have vents like that. I am also new and only have 4 hives, lost one already. I will be trying to learn how to keep bees alive before increasing my apiary. So from Texas Hoping the same for you.
Nice tips! 😄 I have plenty of WD so I'll try that. Neat idea to make a vent for the observation window. One thing I realized I don't like about it is you're basically missing a handle on that side. I'll be expanding to 4 in spring. Good luck with your hives!
@@FaewoodAcres yes and I think a coat of exterior paint in order. I sure hope you never have a dead out. That broke my heart. But I will not quit. Can't afford it bee stuff is costly and I have stuff to build 18 hives.
@@phillipriggs3375wow that's a lot of hives! And yes it gets expensive. I bought nucs for my first 2 hives but next I'll be trapping them. Can't afford nucs all the time 😅
@@FaewoodAcres much of it was used from a quitter. Found them from local bee club. There might be a craigs list or something like it for bee equipment ? Also may find a bonepile local to pick up stuff from someone that doesn't want to take time to fix. Also i signed up for every bee supply newsletter and when they have flash sales, buy. I think your beetech company has some good pricing.
Great Video!👋👋
I just finished building a few boxes myself and I would agree, wood glue (Titebond III) is essential to the longevity of the equipment.
Looking back, maybe I should have used glue on the boxes too. I only used it on frames.
