Thanks for introducing me to Claire's work. And right on my doorstep too. You definitely need to come back again and spend more time exploring the Black Mountain & the Beacons. Some great motorcycling roads and stunning scenery ..... well! ...... When the weather's right. :)
Thank you for sharing Claire story, this proof that with practice, love and determination, nothing can stop you to do anything you want to do in life. 👌
What an amazing woman Claire is Mike and a superb photographer, and she loves bikes too, perfect ! Great interview and brilliant content Mike, thank you.
Wonderful interview. The photos!!!! Absolutely awesome! Find so much resonance with Claire. Horse-mad, bike-mad, photo-mad. Claire, keep doing this, these activities enriched my life to the nth degree. In my 60s and still going!
As a long time (now retired) BBC journalist I love your interviewing style. Great video - you should do more of these, as you really engage with the interviewee to deliver for the audience. Really enjoyed this, Mike.
What a wonderful and inspiritional person Claire is. Such an exciting life with a lot of hardships along the way. Such a talented photographer she is, as well a a very down to earth person with such a lovely personality. Thank you so much, MIke, for bringing these wonderful vidoes to us and introducing us to such talented and wonderful photographers. I just love the Mongolian Eagle hunters. I really appreciate all the hard work and time you have put into these . The interview was excellent.
Excuse the profanity but bloody brilliant vid. Claire seems lovely and at one with her world and she’s a biker using Nikon 😀 ! Seriously though it was very refreshing to hear a genuine take on life with no attitude giving honest positive information on just about any topic she has encountered. Thank you for a great interview.
Thank you very much for putting this together, Mike. It is evident that Claire and you are kindred spirits, sharing a passion for photography, motorbikes, and for highlighting the plight of people whose life is less than ideal through no fault of their own. - What a classy interview location! - It takes a confident photographer to not chimp... - I do lead a boring life although in 1994 I did travel in Mongolia a bit, snapping Kodachrome images along the way. I have an overexposed shot of an eagle hunter... I had my best slides from the trip turned into prints and Kodak never returned my original slides, maybe they were that good that somebody at the lab stole them and claimed them as their own? - Here is hoping that you will meet a few other fascinating photographers at the upcoming Xposure event!
Thanks Irene. Sorry you lost your slides. I will indeed be meeting more awesome people at Xposure and will be interviewing some live on the national English language radio channel radio channel.... MIKE🙏😊
Thank you for making many of us aware of Claire and her extraordinary talent, not just in photography, but in biking and horsemanship as well. Your interview was excellent and your videos just keep getting better and better. You have a unique talent for bringing out the best and positive side of people Mike. Looking forward to your next vlog. God bless!
Thank you so much Michael. That's very kind of you to say so, however Claire is one of the worlds 'Out There' totally authentic people and speaks her truth openly ... MIKE🙏😊
Thank you Mike for introducing Claire, what a fascinating down to earth person who has experienced the real world and hardships along the way. I would so like to see her exhibition in Taiwan but with COVID that's impossible at present. Your interview was the next best thing. Thanks once again for sharing her story along with your travels.🥇🥇🥇
Mike thanks for introducing us to Claire Thomas. Her pictures are mind blowing. Then as she said out of 3000 she culls it down to maybe less than 300 or 200.
You're welcome and they are indeed Harold. I'm going to ask her if I can see the rest of those images, because you can bet your life she wasn't 'spraying and praying'... ... MIKE🙏😊
Really enjoyed the interview with Claire. What a lovely down to earth lady. Fun watching the bike as well. Would love to see more of this type of thing. Stay safe. Stay well.
Thanks Susan. I hope to do more as and when the opportunities arise. it was great to catch Claire on a rare visit to the UK - and good of here to give up a day of 'family' time to hang out with us. Defo want to do another with claire some day - there's still a lot more to that lady..... MIKE🙏😊
I've been waiting for this! Fantastic interview, riveting to hear Claire describe her experience with war photography. The quick realization that the dream to photograph was becoming a nightmare. I can't imagine, very brave and noble of her! Also, love the photographs of the Mongolian Eagle hunters and the women in Ghana! Very beautiful portfolio, diverse but at the same time all in the same spirit. Documenting dynamic cultures, the beauty and horror contrasting. Very emotional work, the type of images that inspire movies.
This was great, I enjoy learning about how other photographers found their way into shooting professionally. The Mongolia photos are gorgeous. Hoping I can learn to have an instinctive feel for the camera settings too. Claire is inspiring, thanks for introducing us to her!
Hello Mike. What a really interesting and entertaining video. I thoroughly enjoyed it. This whole series has been excellent. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Thanks paul. You should. BTW, I've set up a photo Biker workshop here in the UK in May. If you can join me... Link below ... MIKE🙏😊 www.photographycourses.biz/workshops/photo-biker-new-forest-workshop
That was awesome! A legend is that Claire one - although she's a mad brother . . . .loved hearing her story, her passions, and the resonances about what it is with riding that make it what it is. Sensory and meditative. If you're not focussing on being present for the bends, yeah well . . . . . .hello road! Hubby always said biking is 90% in your head. He's right. Loved the photography bits too. So much of it being about what's behind the gear, what's behind the settings, and knowing the tool and what will help you get what is before you in a snap of an instant. All good stuff. Thanks so much Mike!
Hi Mike I found your video beautiful and interesting. Especially that she also shoots instinctively. The basic settings are the shutter speed and aperture and the ISO and then shoot in the moment. Very nice photos Claire impressive. Chills from the war zone photos. The eagle hunters and the ponies beautiful pictures. Especially the light and shadow balance and the dark clouds brings a sense of how beautiful nature is and how these people work together with nature. Sincerely Frank Prinsen
Excellent video, Mike. I've never heard of Claire, but I'll be looking out for her work in future. It was interesting to her her stories, and what drives her as a photographer. Maybe you can do some more videos in this vein?
Very enjoyable, listening to Claire I felt like I knew her already. I love that she is not caught up in camera settings as much as just capture the moment as she sees it, that I feel is instinctive photography. Just followed her on Instagram, thank you for introducing us to Claire. Totally get the horse thing, thats me the strange kid at school who lived for horses maybe thats why she is familiar to me, the horse soul, and I used to ride motorbikes, years as a pillion then I got myself a Honda XL250 to potter around the backroads of the Flinders Ranges where I live, no licence apart from a learners permit for a while but you could do that up here back then. I almost feel like I have met a new friend......weird.
Thanks Lisa. Calire's openness and authenticity does make you feel you know her right from the get go. Funny, I grew up riding horses, progresed to motorcycles (Including an XL250) and spent a while in The Flinders. Hiked around Wilpena pound and was fascinated by the Aboriginal creation story of the place. ... MIKE🙏😊
@@MikeBrowne Thats amazing Mike, parallel worlds. I lived at Wilpena for a while, worked in the motel, and spend my afternoons walking, cycling and riding. Its about an hour from home so easy to pop up for photos etc.
That poor little baby! How the heck Claire is not haunted by some of those images, let alone can actually make them is beyond me! obviously a very strong human being who needs a medal as big as a frying pan! She does make a very interesting point though.. you can still be vulnerable and emotional whilst taking the shots. Changing the subject entirely Mike, I did love the bit of the video where you just opened up the throttle on the old Red Legend and just went! Weeeee!!
I know Ash. When I saw Claire's exhibition all huge and beautifully printed at Xposure it had me in tears. She and others like her do sunch animportant and unapprieciated job of bringing these stories into the world... ... MIKE 🙏😊 PS: Red Legend Rocks...
Thanks Andy. I did, it's an animal of a bike. Claire shot some pics of me doing it. There's one on our Facebook. Link below... MIKE 🏍️🙏😊 facebook.com/DigitalPhotographyVideos/photos/5518742924805902
I can't believe I've only just seen your comment Dai! It's so lovely to hear from you. A lot has happened since then indeed, and I really miss riding your beautiful horses, I loved them so much! Hope you're all well Dai. xx
She’s a self tought photographer who took a photo of a camel which she posted and the rest is history as they say ,huge lucky break and fair play she made the most out of it , Claire just proves even at that time she was probably a novice photographer how one pic can change your life , it just shows sometimes being qualified in a choosen subject is not always necessary fair play to her
The photo of the colorfully dressed women is great!
A talented woman.
