I never realized how much better the photos looked with the reflector - with it, the pictures looked more alive, more interesting and without, it looked dull and lifeless. thanks for the visual lesson, Mike!
It’s nice to see you’re a motorcycle fan. I’ve had many bikes, but at age 70, married, 2 sons, 2 granddaughters I’m done riding. My last bike was a BMW R1150 RT, I put 74k miles on it. I’ve always loved Triumph and BSA, but sadly never had one. Good info shooting with a large light reflector.
Thanks. I'm glad you liked the technique. BTW I have spent the winter building a bike mostly out of a 1981 BMW R100 (bought as an unfinished project) and bits and pieces found in my shed and scrounged up elsewhere. Love it...
Besides the great instruction Mike, I love your choice of music! Funny this video came in today. I Just ordered myself a reflector and was wanting someone with a hands-on explanation.... and VOILA! There you were! You have been my mentor for the past 3 years my friend. Long life and happy trails to you!
Really enjoying watching these motorbike days out Mike, it’s making me want to go out and get a bike , looks much more fun than doing it in the car. Brilliant Mike keep em coming👌
Thanks Graham. Glad you like them and I'd certainly say being on a bike is a better way to experience the worl as we explore than being in a car. That said I explored over 34,000 kilometers in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia in an old 1979 VW Passat and it was still awesome. Just enjoy it however... ... MIKE🙏😊
much better than the last video with the bike. its not easy to make a bike, car, etc LOOK like more than it is. Many times they just end up looking..well..like snapshots people use to sell their goods online..ie, craigslist, facebook marketplace etc..BUT this turned out way better.
Amazing difference with a reflector and what a bike,if you didn’t know how to fire one up you do now! Brilliant contrast at the garage Mike between the old and new, bikes I mean!
I just watched your older motorbike picture video and discovered this one....awesome Mike!! Oh how I love the beautiful variety of countryside in England. I moved from Cheltenham in 1982 to live in Canada and will have to travel some ways to see anything but prairie where you can watch a dog run away for 3 days lol. Great use of a reflector. I'm going to try the same technique and then swap out the reflector and putting a speedlite on the ground with a diffuser and then experiment with different settings to underexpose the sky and capture some of the richness of colours with the clouds/sky.
The reflector is brilliant! (Figuratively as well as literally!) it’s like you have unlocked one of the great secrets. Thanks , I always enjoy learning something new from your videos.
So thankful for the electrics in bikes now! My goodness I’d forget a step in starting an old girl the beautiful BSA you’ve got - what a ripper of a machine. So typical of motorcyclists too in looking out and after each other. Especially newbies. Very exciting. As for the photography and images, I enjoyed seeing the difference a reflector makes. There’s been a few times when I’ve been out bush, and thought a little bit extra light in somewhere would just help lift something . . . .and of course, I don’t have anything to help. My favourite image was the last one. The light and the context just seemed to suit the old girl. May she keep you going for a good few years yet.
Hi Mike, as this video was done over a year ago now, I'm not sure if you'd see comments on your videos in September '23. I just bought a motorcycle and intend taking my camera out and doing some location shots just like this. i really liked the idea of a reflector to experiment with light. i enjoy watching your motorcycle videos with awesome photo ideas. my fathwr once had the very first BSA Gold Flash 650cc bike in Newcastle, NSW Australia, awesome bike in the day. i really love that Triumph Thunderbird you have.....what a classic😊
That was an interesting 5G phone mast sticking out of your head whilst you was enjoying the mince pie and mug of tea:) The reflector really made a big difference, but the bike Mike, what a beauty especially as it is in original condition. Just lovely:) Sandy
Fantastic video Mike. Glad to see such a classic bike back on the road! The young woman who just got her license was so great also. The tips on shooting bike with the reflector was well done and much appreciated as well. Hope you enjoy the weather and be safe!

Great video as always Mike, I know the reflector did a great job would a speed light flash work just the same. Totally agree on the minced pies they should be available all year round
Such a simple technique, id have been tempted to bring out the bikes highlights in post production but much simipler with a reflector. Will have to get the old CCM 500 out in the forest and buy a refelector too. Brilliant video.
Go for it! Thing is in PP you can brighten dark areas, but you can't change the qualities of the light - which is why the reflector makes such a big difference. It does both... MIKE 🙏👍😊

Awesome pics and awesome bike Mike. Using the reflector makes a massive difference I think for me the photo you took up the road you shouldn’t have gone up is my favourite 👍. Ride safe.

Nice I was waiting on a redo of that first motorbike video. Such an improvement, the last shot was my favourite, I like the balance of the motorbike and the cubicle thing
I really like the idea of a reflector-- Always thought I needed a 2nd person but you showed with a little ingenuity one can do it by themselves. I really like the bike on the old road the best- My only thought was I might have tried it in portrait mode to show more of the road and trees in the background. Great Video as always
Grats on your lovely bike. The video got me thinking. If I 'll ever try such shots placing camera on tripod and using a remote, while holding the reflector, might be more convenient.

Awesome video. I love shooting bikes and their parts. I use 2 Ad200 flashes in soft boxes. It’s a fun set up in the wind 🤣🤣. Keep up the good work mate.

I like the one taken on the closed road..... Nice leading lines of the road and the environment complements the motorbike. Also the colors complementing each other. Next, it would be nice to see you use the self-timer in your Fuji and put yourself in the picture with the bike. These videos are great Mike, soon the weather there will be warming up for the spring and I'm sure you can take some longer trips with us watching you!
All good photos but I like the first image. there's a very nice B31 owned by a neighbour just over my back fence. I'll have to try and get a shot next time he's brings it out. The oldies really sound a treat.

Great images Mike, I think my favourite is the one on the path. Beautiful bike even if you haven’t restored it. When you go to Switzerland next for your workshop why not take some time and visit Freuler’s Race Cafe, Linthal, Switzerland, Freuler is a lover of British motorbikes and has built up quite a collection and used to race sidecar up and down the passes.

Watched your previous efforts. Vast improvement but did notice with the reflector some bits on the tank had blown highlights. Great tips on composition..👍
I kinda like a blown highlight in such shots minisla. It looks natural because highlights on a chrome tank / headlight etc do blow out to our eyes.. ... MIKE🙏😊
Loved this video. And so chuffed to see you used my review! I am planning to go back and review a lot of your Masterclass. Always good to do some revision to cement the knowledge. I get out and about so much more these days because I have more confidence that the effort will yield more successful shots. Cheers Mike. BTW, what do you think about superzoom bridge cameras? I have a Sony Rx10 which is very versatile. Cheers Mike
Thanks for your kind comments and review of Masterclass Robert. Much apprieciated and delighted you have more confidence now too. All cameras have their place and a superzoom bridge is a good idea when you don't want to lug a bag of kit around with you.... MIKE🌟🙏😊
Very enjoyable again Mike. Amongst two of my favourite hobbies in one video 👍. My own bike has 50+ year old design brakes so a fist bump there. A note why cows were reluctant for a petting, cow skin covered hands 😱😁. Thanks again.

Love the number plate on the BSA GAS 608 I had a BSA Bantam in my early days the I went onto a Triumph 750 Bonny then after smashing up my left ankle and now cant move the ankle as it has been fused so I have to stick to a automatic car.Great seeing the old bike and yes it makes a lot of differance with the reflector. I am hopeing to take up your premium next month as I am going into hospital this week for a operation so will be limited for time before next month. I just hope this op sorts out my stomach problems and I wont have anymore pain everytime I eat.Be lucky - Be safe.

Brought back memories, my father in law had 145 British bikes in his life, buying selling, restoring, riding , his life was bikes, 👏👏👏👏 I was into my kawasakis😂
I owned a B31 60 years ago but it had ‘modern’ rear suspension and an enclosed chaincase. I’m no expert on old bikes, so wondering if this is actually a B31 or earlier? 76 years old now and riding a BMW R1250GSA. All that aside, great video thanks.
Thanks Psul. B31's evolved. Mine is a 1950 - the year plunger suspension was added. Not sure when but a few years later the went to swing arm and shocks (modern suspension). Recon that's the version you had... ... MIKE🙏😊

Really nice sir. Was waiting for your new video in the series after watching the last video. Thank you for sharing. Keep it up 👍
Thank you Dr Nimish ... MIKE🙏😊
Love your biker vids. Keep them coming.
Thanks Lester ... MIKE🙏😊
Not much to say apart from another brilliant video, the BSA is Beautiful.
Thankls. She's a honey ... MIKE🙏😊
Oh, and I loved the pole and pigeon sticking out of your head whilst you enjoyed your mince pie 🤣
Great video Mike!👍👍love the the bike and the fantastic photos. I need to blow the dust off my reflector!! (Your bike sounds like “trigger’s broom” 😂)
Thanks paul ... MIKE🙏😊
Watched your previous efforts. Vast improvement but did notice with the reflector some bits on the tank had blown highlights. Great tips on composition..👍
I kinda like a blown highlight in such shots minisla. It looks natural because highlights on a chrome tank / headlight etc do blow out to our eyes.. ... MIKE🙏😊
Thanks Mike
Thank you - I appreciate the support!
MIKE🌟🙏😊
Inspireing, as always. My father had a BSA once, in the 1960s..., oh anyway; thanks for your video! (Note-to-self: purchase a reflector)
Thanks sterkoder. ... MIKE😆🙏😊
Very enjoyable again Mike. Amongst two of my favourite hobbies in one video 👍. My own bike has 50+ year old design brakes so a fist bump there. A note why cows were reluctant for a petting, cow skin covered hands 😱😁. Thanks again.
Thanks Warren. Yes good point, might have been one of their rellies ... MIKE🙏😊
Would like to see the bike next to a public phone booth or posed next to an old stone bridge over a creek. Classic look in the UK.
Good idea Mark ... MIKE🙏😊
Hello Mike . I tried to meet you in Sharjah But was not lucky this time. Next year will attend your workshop.
Sorry to have missed you Main. They kept me pretty busy this year so little ntime to wander rounf the exhibitions. Next year I'll see if a time date and place can be aranged for a meet .. ... MIKE🙏😊
Thanks Bob. My first bike was a BSA Bantam D7 Super - and I too had a T140E 750 Bonneville!! Great minds eh. Hope the op goes well my friend. Fingers crossed for you.. ... MIKE🙏😊
@@MikeBrowne Thank you
Great video Mike. The shot in the lane i really like, what would a vertical have looked like.
Thanks Ian.. ... MIKE🙏😊
What a great video thank you
Thanks LDG Glad you enjoyed it - and lovin the Lemon Drizzle Gang handle too ... MIKE🙏😊
@@MikeBrowne Thanks the name comes from my classic bike channel th-cam.com/channels/QbVTHUMEFpk3eerjA-tngw.html
BUENISIMO!, muchas gracias!
you're welcome 🙏👍
Brought back memories, my father in law had 145 British bikes in his life, buying selling, restoring, riding , his life was bikes, 👏👏👏👏 I was into my kawasakis😂
Glad it made you smile Brian.... MIKE🙏😊
Once again ❤️ey video mr Mike we got 1question anyone can’t sit on floor or kneel down what they can do?
thanks. Difficult indeed. maybe hold camera low as p[ossible at arms length? ... MIKE🙏😊
Thanks
Thank you for your support Chris ... MIKE🙏😊🌟
Loved the video , thank you. Would you use same technique on a car i wonder ?
Thanks martyn. You could, but remember cars have large flat areas which will have a reflection of the reflector in them. .. ... MIKE🙏😊
Recon that's the version you had... ... MIKE🙏😊
