That is exactly why Klaus fell in love with Caroline even though he was known to be emotionless. And the whole episode was meant for that messenge, that definition of humanity isn't really what we think it is.
That's the thing, the humanity switch was always fake. Vampirism amplifies all emotions - "the switch" is and always has been from the 1st season of The Vampire Diaries- just amplified repression or "denial".
I think because Hope didn’t choose to turn off her humanity (she kind of instinctually forced it off) it kind of slips back in at times, as if the old Hope is trying to undo what she mistakenly did.
That ending scene was everything. She is teetering but while holding it all together. She still has boundaries and is only interested in stopping her own demise eventhough it may be at anyone's expense. Hope is that perfect creature in a way. She is in control even when she isnt. It's amazing that she isnt a ripper .. still has compassion for children ... I'm proud of her man lol

Her parents, despite their reputation, wanted her to become a decent and good person, but in her cruelty in a short time she managed to surpass even her father in his old days. Hope is a living example of how a human breaks down when he has shouldered the burdens of the whole world since childhood.

The scene with Alaric hit me every time. You can see on his face how he goes from being worried about Hope, to fearing that his worse fears for Hope came true when she asked about his humanity switch, to finally sadness after realizing his protegee is gone and that he wasn't able to save her when she said "isn't it?".
This is so Damon Salvatore (in the dealing with humanity issues way) remember when Damon did this ,stood in the middle of the road ,at night ,stopped a car ,told his grief to the lady passenger ,told her to run ,and then killed her.

Might seem odd but I see a bit of Villianelle in this (season 3 when she wants to stop being an assassin). Someone who has been pushed over the edge from life training her to turn off humanity as a coping mechanism. Danielle’s acting is great. The ambivalence and longing and also fury in her line deliveries are just fantastic.

hope is becoming all her predecessors and im thinking she will be more powerful than the hollow. crescent wolf bloodline the hollow was her great aunt,her father while still a first born michaelson witch. im thinking that the thing the gods were so affraid of would be hope. there is no way to killl her after the red oak was destroyed and shes just beggiinig to understand her poweron top of all that the life shes lived is nothing short of a tragedy and that still is an underestimation
Amazing! Absolutely stunning! I love that they keep her on the edge of, I guess, essentially turning it back on. Like we get a glimpse but then Hope's like "nah". Cause mixed with all the loss and pain she's went through, now she's witnessed so much more violence at her own hands this time. In the way that they focused on Lizzie's codependency, Hope's life has really been defined by loneliness. And now, the only person who was kinda tied to her severed that and more or less betrayed her? Obviously we see her at the Mystic Falls border and back at the school in the promo, but I'd be curious to see how long she'd last trying to run from anything that could trigger an emotion.

Also I love how in legacies all the actors that play teen actually look teen… whereas in tvd and to they looked in their 20s (still amazing cast) and I think that adds to the terrifing image of hope… because who would ever expect a teenager to be this ruthless

This was an Absolutely Amazing tribute for The Original No Humanity Tribrid Hope Andrea Mikaelson My Favorite Version of Hope Mikaelson in Legacies and My Favorite Character and Antagonist’s in Legacies. Danielle Rose Russell did a Phenomenal Performance showing that all The Love, Kindness and Loyalty has been stripped away and the only thing that’s left is Anger, Resentment and Pain showing that Hope Mikaelson has become a literal shell of her former self.
I can't take hope anymore and I will be very happy that hope will not which her humanity off,on again & again. I want hope humanity on fully on for the end of season 4. I want her to be happy.

I feel like hope could have been such an memorable character if the writers had written her properly. At first she was just boring and her love story with Landon wasn’t enjoyable to watch. Now, it just seems that her ‘no-humanity’ storyline is just dragging. At first I was excited, but now it’s no longer fun. Now the only character I’m excited to see is Lizzie. P.s this is not a hate comment. As a tvd/to watcher I expected a lot from legacies, especially since I loved hopes storyline in to. So, what I got was kind of disappointing. Ig this is what happens when you expect too much.

The torture scene with Aurora is probably the most brutal thing we have seen on Legacies, much more like the Originals or TVD and that kill at the end evokes not so much Klaus as Damon Salvatore waiting to have existential struggles in the road and then killing their victims, although in this case it appears she was trying to re-traumatize herself by making herself a proper monster (up until now she had not yet killed an innocent human) to be able to "flip her switch" (repress more fully) her bubbling humanity. Which suggests that now that she has gone over the moral cliff she is gonna be more brutal.
