Alex Sarr Scouting Report | 2024 NBA Draft Breakdowns

- Alex Sarr's combination of defensive prowess, athleticism and flashes of ball skills and floor spacing make him one of, if not the premier prospect in the 2024 class. After spending 2 years with OTE he made the move to the Perth Wildcats of the NBL and was an integral piece to a winning team though limited by the role/minutes he was given. Still has some clear areas for improvement and questions to answer but the likely #1 on my board.

it can be a big scary to take bigs at the top of the draft with lots of athleticism and limited self-creation, but Sarr passes the eye test when it comes to being a connecting passer and being confident in his outside shot. would give him 3 or 4 years before he starts to truly reach his potential there. i'm impressed!
this guy is a guaranteed versatile defensive stud and good finisher/
lob threat he has a high floor for sure and with the right development he could be a border line all star
This will age perfectly while everyone bashes him in those first 2 years
The potential is definitely there
Thing is #1 picks are held to all time great standards regardless of how weak a class is . Following wemby sarr will definitely be seen as a bust .
I think he's pretty safe. Should have an immediate impact as a defender and dunker. Rebounding will likely be an issue and so will fouling but he's going to be able to have an impact (maybe like Lively did this year). I'm surprised by his playmaking ability. Some of these reads were fairly advanced
He does a really good job at keeping his hands out all the time on defense. It makes him more imposing
his lateral movement is impressive
love your videos
I haven´t seen him play not a single full game so... but I´d always pick a player with this type of motor, heart and determination. Hard works pays off more than anything in the long run.
great vid
As a Spurs fan if we get the opportunity to get this kid and don’t I’d be seriously hurt 😭😂 Him and Wemby would the the new Twin Towers
I think the Spurs would be better suited with a guard. They need a quality PG that can pass and score. In today’s NBA, it doesn’t make a ton of sense to have a bunch of bigs.
@@rafterman5072it’s easier to trade for a guard. Sarr is a big talent
@@kyul9357you’re both wrong, the best deal in the next draft would be Tidjane Salaün as a PF, this is what the Spurs need with a PG to compensate for Sochan when he’s doing… Sochan things 😅 the PG the Spurs should get at all costs is Nikola Topic.
@@joachimmahoudeaux8619 Just watched highlights of Tidjane. Looks legit. Nice 3pt shooting. Very athletic. But based on what i see, he doesn't facilitate the offense. More of a 3 and D and great finisher. Same with Sarr. Can't go wrong with either guys,,,Spurs are gonna need a facilitator like Trace Jackson Davis. Someone who can score and assist the next guy.
Spurs should go after that big center from Purdue if they're going for the Twin Towers. Trade to get a veteran legit point guard who been in the playoffs before.
dino sarr 🐉
Future Raptor indeed!
He's alot better than people will think.
no hes really not
He’s overrated
Best case scenario for Portland.
I see some JJJ for sure. Maybe some Mitchell Robinson if he gets stronger. I think his offense will be mostly lobs like Mobley's rookie year
I know how hard it is to make these videos, but I wish you had one a day! These are really well-made
Future Wizard!
My dream scenario to pair him with Wemby. Sochan, Sarr, Wemby lineup would cause mayhem on the defensive end
Sochan needs to polish his techniques and discipline in defense because right now he's inconsistent and he did not meet the expectations in his sophomore season..
U will need a good shooter at the 3 because Sochan is not good in that area
@@imthemann_7782probably gonna pick up Trae in the offseason. If the Spurs can find one more 3pt specialist I think they’ll be alright. Wemby statistically is one of the best 3pt off the dribble shooters in the league.
@@lilolittle3131 Are you slow Spurs aren't getting Trae 🤣🤣🤣
Then nobody cant shoot outside the paint area😂
I think he should avoid putting on too much muscle. When Porzingis added a bunch of muscle it made him much less mobile and fluid. Sarr's biggest strength is his ability to move quickly and switch defensive assignments. He should stay lean and accept some of those shortcomings.
One persons build has nothing to do with another
@@TheIcemanthomasFacts.
Well porzingis has been less injury prone since he added a little muscle, still a effective player
He should turn into giannis imo
@@georgeroth3042 put down the weed
Wow his mobility at deffense is crazy good… many team will want to draft him just for the deffense
Praying the Pistons don’t drop for the 8th time in the draft. We desperately need a versatile big. He or Risacher would dramatically improve the team’s success
Risacher is by far the most overrated prospect in the class imo, Holland, Buzelis, and Dillingham are all a lot better and I don't think its particularly close.
Still Sarr would be AMAZING on the Pistons we need a rim protector so badly lmao. A starting lineup of Cade, Grimes, Ausar, Fontecchio, and Sarr would be such a dominant and switchable defensive lineup. And if Ausar or Sarr's jumper ever consistently fall it'd give Cade so much space to operate. It's just so heartbreaking how Duren has just shown zero progress defensively in the two years he's played.
@@justguy9418 what makes Risacher overrated? What’s your perspective? As far as I see it, Risacher is the much better shooter, but Sarr is the better defender. I’ll take Sarr all day, but we aren’t getting that #1. I have no faith in the draft.
@@sosmooth13 Lack of burst, flexibility and strength leads to him getting stuck and turning the ball over when he is asked to drive to the rim. That combined with his weak and not very deceptive handle limits him greatly as a driver/finisher, and it especially limits him as an advantage creator.
Offensively he's a great off-ball shot maker, insanely quick release and as shown the ability to make NBA range shots curling off of DHO's. Great off-ball defender, good at navigating screens and chasing down his man. Though he is just average as a POA defender.
My biggest concern and why I believe he's easily the most overrated prospect, is that Risacher doesn't do much of anything offensively if he's not shooting off-ball or running in transition. And his defense isn't good enough to justify ignoring his question marks offensively the way you can with Sarr.
@@sosmooth13 I'm lower on Risacher than most but imo I don't see much more than just a very good roleplayer in him. It's easier to find a 3&D wing similar to Risacher than it is to find someone like Matas, Holland, Dillingham, Sarr and Topic.
We need him in Charlotte. Brandon Miller, Alex Sarr is a bright future of a Hornets Fan
He seems to be an Evan Mobley+. He’s a Pf not a Center. If a team can plug him next to a defensive minded Center he can be much better than expected. Maybe Portland or Charlotte next to Williams.
Google the name Theo Ratliff. He’s an exact clone.
Seems like he has a decent motor to go along with athleticism, i think that makes his floor pretty high as a modern day defensive big at minimum
If Sarr can give you 10 plus rebounds in the NBA. You might have something with him. The motor always has to be running though. It might be the difference of him being a back up player or AllStar.
Wemby Sarr Sochan is like whata new Age Tim, David and IF Rodman played with them lmao. The defense would be crazy and they obviously could score lmao. Especially with Vassel at SG. Maybe they can also take for a Trae young or just draft Topic with the 7th pick
wemby need a floor spacer to play SF like MPJ or even like risacher in the upcoming draft
Sochan dyes his hair like Rodman
I get the Mobley comparison-- just not as advanced offensively as Mobley at same age. But I see shooting potential, and as he should fill out physically
I swear to god if San Antonio gets this guy
Its wraps if that happens
Sarrlotte Hornet!
Evan Mobley vibes
It’s giving Jaren without the shooting touch. A little Giannis lite as well before GA took the offensive leap.
He's a center that's still young in due time
His Jumper looked a lot smoother to start the year (i.e. the game vs Ignite) with a higher release, but it looks like they changed up his form quite a bit. It looks more like JJJ/Noah now, and the results have been worse
Right next to Wemby
Nah Spurs don’t need another C. They need a PG and wings
dis years draft will mark with d most French players getting drafted
Seems like an athletic big with high lateral quickness
Future Blazers!
The more I learn about this draft the less excited I am, love to be a Pistons fan🥲
I liked to see him with okc. They need fast bigs.
They need a big body to switch it up, but if he is anything like a better version of brother Olivier who is currently with OKC, he will fit in perfectly
So Kevin Garnett with Jonathan Isaac's perimeter defense and can shoot the 3? damn
wizard
Brooooo if they pair Wemby wit Sarr. Watch tf out😳
The French national team will have him, Gobert, Wemby and possibly also Embiid so that is possibly even scarier
@@callumsmith5819 embiid with team USA now cos theirs too many good centres for France, makes sense
@@2ClutchCorey that's kinda a shame that he is chasing glory rather than playing for his own country, as it means that I don't get to see Wemby playing as a shooting guard in a lineup with 4 7 footers
A more physically fit nerlons noel can def be a solid defender for the right team. Because there are so many freaks now. I don't see much offense coming from him but he's def a solid player for a team like the Hornets Pelicans Wizards . . .
Kinda reminds me of Evan Mobley for better or worse
Ayton, Sarr, Grant, Simons, Brogdon. Go Blazers!
I like Scoot better at 1, once he gets more comfortable and work on his shooting, he's going to be really good
I hope the basketball gods give him to my wizards 😢 seriously
I see a prospect not a lottery pick like he's projected.
Au Wizards avec Coulibaly ou au Spurs avec Wemby
he needs to be drafted to the spurs
Blazers is a very good fit
I want Sarr on my Spurs, but i think thatll be too overpowered😭
Evan Mobley
4.3 Rpg? Good fucking god
Alarming for sure, but it does look like he spends a lot of time defending the perimeter, away from the basket & rebs.
They barely played him tbh
For the wizards
He kinda moves like Kevin Garnett
Clint Cappella with a better jump shot and short roll reads is his upside.
Also it is concerning he only gets 17 minutes of burn in the NBA. You'd think he'd be averaging 2-3 blocks per game with how monstrous he looks in this videos.
He can check wemby
Okc should target him. We are the best team for him and he can fill that vacuum of positional size that we need. The scheme versatility, and always having a 7ft defensive anchor in the court without sacrificing the offensive end can make okc the boogie man of the league.
Yea trade SGA
@@inthezone.8563 lol lkr, he’s a bum
@@inthezone.8563I hear the joke but yeah let’s trade Chet: he’s hit the rookie wall hard, just too lazy on his footwork, not enough fighting spirit, Alex Sarr is just way faster and has those french defensive fundamentals other countries don’t have, plus he’s a natural born fighter. Remember: with all the superstars on duties in Tokyo ‘21, France remained the best defense.
I see this kid as Nerlens Noel , with the playmaking of Alphren Sengun
Hes 100% going to the wizards
He’s solid, but with that being said, I don’t see number one pick. He’s 7’1, he should be able to grab 9-10 boards a game. If he doesn’t add range to his scoring, I just don’t see him being great
expecting him to grab 9-10 rebounds while being a backup center who is often out guarding the perimeter isnt realistic
in a normal draft sure, but this draft he has the most upside
@@justguy9418 if he’s being drafted top three, more than likely he’s starting
@@kennethbarnes4348 Yeah obviously, I'm just saying the expectation of him grabbing 9-10 boards in the NBL is unrealistic. He is the backup center playing 17 minutes per game. His Per 36 numbers have him at 9.2 rebounds per gane, and he most likely will play 30ish minutes for whatever team he goes to.
He’s the next Theo Ratliff
Claxton or Bam Adebayo 2.0
I don't see it.
Who James Wiseman could've been with more game experience.
Trae young, Wemby, and alex Sarr. Spurs gotta do whatever is necessary to create the Demi god twin towers with a playmaker
Wizard
Lmao this draft class week asl
Welcome to the Washington Wizards 🤝
I'm a Washington wizard fan bilal coulibaly, deni , alex sarr crazy defensive young core
Is he really that much better than his brother?
Bol Bol 2.0
Stop comparing him to Mobley, his bag is no where near Mobley’s.
Damn it's gonna be hard to score in the paint against France with Wembanyama, Gobert and Sarr.
What about drug usage? Drug abuse issues?I haven't heard anything about it. Just saying.
Wembanyama and Sarr?!
The Eiffel Towers!
That's who I want as a Spurs fan, no one else comes close for me.
If they got lucky again and landed in the 1st pick that would be an amazing duo, but the other french man I think is the more realistic..
Bust
Why do you think he'll be a bust?
He’s a rocket
u ain't getting a top 3 pick
@@untednoob9300 🚀have a shot a two top 3 picks. Brooklyn’s pick and Houston’s is top 4 protected. Fingers crossed 🤞🏾 the ping pong balls go our way this year.
He's not a number one, pick averaging nine points a game 😂😂😂😂😂 This has to be the weakest draft class ever
Only played like 17 mins a game in the nbl
Huge bust potential for this guy.
Depends on which team he goes to, a team with front court depth can help.
Jonathan Isaac is much better then this kid
Risacher is overrated.. sarr is legit prospect
Wemby+Sarr would be broken
