"Palestine Song", a rare song by Walther von der Vogelweide (13th century) to have been found with music. It is a religious propaganda song for the crusades, commissioned by Emperor Friedrich II. The number of original stanzas is disputed, there are about 13, but 7 are thought to be by the author. The melody is said to be a counterfeit (borrowing) of a melody by a French trouvère, but this is also not so obvious.
I only interpret 4 stanzas, in the manner of a story told, to distance myself from the content. But the beauty of the melody has made it famous throughout the centuries!
This song is known to be present in the repertoire of many musicians, like In extremo, Estampie, ensemble Unicorn, Qntal...

Obwohl ich mit dem Christentum nichts anfangen kann, gefällt mir dieses historische Lied sehr gut. Ich habe schon viele Interpreten davon gehört, das hier gefällt mir am Besten. Ich könnte stundenlang zuhören. Danke!

@@lgprod6554 oui d’autant plus que normalement Walther von der Vogelweide est un minnesänger… c’est une commande de l’empereur et on pense qu’il n’a pas participé aux croisades. mais la chanson a eu beaucoup de succès à l’époque, et aujourd’hui encore, c’est un des chants les plus interprétés en Allemagne dans la scène de la musique médiévale. Je pense que la plupart des gens ne s’intéressent pas au texte. Donc j’ai voulu un peu la chanter comme si je lisais un récit de l’histoire, pour m’en distancier…
Comme toujours, une prestation toujours de très bonne qualité, et poétique (malgré la signification des paroles 😅) Ta voix me transportera toujours ❤️

This isn't modern German, this is from more than 700 years ago.
- the W is still pronounced as a double U, not a V. (wunder not vunder, in modern Bavarian it is even still as this)
the Sch is pronounced closer to Sk, (Skar/ or s-char seperately, for reference you can see how the dutch pronounce a word like "schule"
the S at this time is still very strong. voiceless and not voiced. (so it remains "siht" and not "ziht" )
and it isn't pronounced "shtat" either, pronounced as written, stat.
Don't take it the wrong way, but I just felt that not many are doing justice to a poem by pronouncing it these ways, and none are the wiser. thas like me reading out beowulf in modern English pronunciation.
