- Big Bird gets placed in a new home after being convinced it would be better for him, only to find it isn't and now is on the run to get home. Let's see how that works for a Sesame Street movie.

Here’s a fun fact: Madame Chairbird would later become Big Bird’s aunt, Nani Bird and the owl would later become Hoots.
No way! Really?
Seriously that is awesome I really like hoots the owl
How ironic and cool?
This film had some of Mr. Spinney's best work as Big Bird...may he rest in peace.😊😊😢😢😢
Here is a funny Thing. Many Years later a Episode about Bullying aired. In that Episode Big Bird was also blue.
Honestly, I used to think that Big Bird turns blue whenever he feels sad.
Was that the one where Big Bird is mocked by a ground of smaller birds?
This film had some of Mr. Spinner best acting as Big Bird...may he rest in peace.
It's rare that so many people grew up with this film more than Elmo in Grouchland, which is sad cause I grew up with that movie a whole lot more, but looking at this movie a lot of heart and soul was put in this film for Sesame Street fans and I could see why.
I couldn't agree more. "Follow That Bird" felt like the world of "Sesame Street" reworked for the big screen. Whereas "Elmo In Grouchland" feels like one of those straight to VHS "Sesame Street" specials that got dumped onto the big screen at the last minute. I actually have a few ways that "Elmo In Grouchland" could've been fixed. Wanna hear them?
@@supermariof0521
I figure Elmo In Grouchland would've been fixed if there had been a subplot with Superbaby traveling through the skies trying to find him, narrowly escape a bald eagle after a long aerial chase, and then fight Huxley' bugs in one of those one man army battles during the climax.
@@evancredeur7498Well one issue with Elmo's movie, is that unlike Big Bird's movie, it's framed more or less like an episode of the show which includes several instances of the film grinding to a hault to talk directly to the audience for no good reason, while Follow That Bird is simply the world of "Sesame Street" on a Cinematic scale in both tone and structure. Had Elmo's movie been filmed with the same mindset that Big Bird's movie had, and was maybe 10 minutes longer, it probably would've been a hell of a lot better.
@@supermariof0521
I didn't even say anything about Big Bird's movie.
@@evancredeur7498 I know. I was just noting the differences between both movies.
12:27 We miss you, Carol Spinney. 😢
I miss him, he's the best as both big bird and oscar the grouch.
I still own this film on VHS
I actually got the 25th anniversary deluxe edition DVD of this movie for my cousin's son for his 3rd birthday.
Also you got to love Jim and Frank performing Bert and Ernie flying the plane and singing " Upside Down World" and Jim as Reporter Kermit.😊😊😅😂
I love this movie! I would even put it up there with the other muppet movies in terms of how good it is!
Rest in peace, Jim, Jane, and John Henson (yeah, one of the Henson kids sadly passed away), Jerry Nelson, Will Lee (you are still missed, Mr. Hooper), Richard Hunt, Emilio Delgado (Luis), Bob McGrath, and especially Carroll Spinney. You are all dearly missed.
Sonia was always great as Maria.😊😊
This was the earliest film I remember from my childhood next to Star Wars a New Hope
Big Bird has been my favorite character ever since I was a baby
AWESOME JOB WITH THIS CHILDHOOD CLASSIC
Are you gonna do Elmo in Grouchland next?
My dad took me to see this in the movies when I was two years old
Nice review. I love this movie. Fun Fact: The girl in the farm scene is Alyson Court, who would later play Loonette The Clown from The Big Comfy Couch TV show.
And she also did the voice of Jubilee in the 90s X-Men cartoon.
@@doctorawesomeness1997 Yup!
And localizer of megaman X5
And she also voiced some characters in My Pet Monster (Nelvana) and Amber in The Care Bears Family episode “Order On The Court”, and Bella from Tweenies (American dub).
Also Claire Redfield in the Resident Evil games, and Lydia in the Beetlejuice cartoon.
Follow that Bird and Elmo in Grouchland are my childhood movies! I didn't watch Sesame Street that much as a kid. Nice review though! 😉👍
As a matter of fact, at the beginning of this movie Big Bird tells the audience that Sesame Street was brought to you today by the letters W and B.
Since the film was distributed by Warner Bros.
Warner Bros. still own the rights to the film, while the Sesame Street Muppets and Kermit the Frog, who appeared in the film, are currently owned by Sesame Workshop and Disney respectively.
Will the next Sesame Street project you review be "Elmo in Grouchland"?
Hopefully. And I imagine he'd be noticeably more critical with that movie. Not that I blame him.
I own a copy of the DVD 📀 of this movie, and it has a nice interview with the puppeteer.
Now people are gonna be begging you to view 1999's "The Adventures of Elmo In Grouchland".
This is one of my childhood films! So glad you reviewed it. I watched this again after this, and I cried. Lol
It's been a long time since I saw this movie. I still remember the part where Big Bird and the Dodos are chased by a lawnmower, and the chase scene.
Charbird is later recycled to be Nanny Bird Big Bird's Aunt in a DVD Video Spin Off called Sesame Beginnings of where Elmo, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, and Prairie Dawn as Babies.
Great review dude
I remember watching this all the time on Encore TV and how annoyed my family was everytime I turned it on.
3:32 Was that supposed to be a fourth wall joke?
5:58 Mandark!
8:55 Yes. 🤬 that bird!
The Dodos work the same way like the Gords from Fraggle Rock did.
This is a really good movie, but I honestly slightly prefer Elmo in Grouchland. I guess I have bias for Elmo over Big Bird
As someone who grew up with that movie, and after watching both movies back to back, in my opinion, it kinda made Elmo's movie look considerably worse than Big Bird's movie.
😮😮😮3:00, HOOOOOOOOLLD IIIIIT, HE ACTUALLY HAS A CRIMINAL WHAT NOW????
I should have watched this entire review awhile back to be aware of this.
My childhood
Miss Finch is better off drenched in boiling oil and served with 11 herbs and spices.
At least she was an actual honest to God villain, which is more than I can say for Huxley.
Looks like you really liked this movie! I’m a “decent” fan of Sesame Street so maybe I can get some thing out of this I mean at this point, I’ll take anything if it means I get to ease my anxiety until the mighty movie comes out.
Chevy Chase made a Mister Rogers reference.
I hope you will review the adventures of Elmo in grouchland next. It’s the first Sesame Street movie I’ve seen.
Good Morning, Media Hunter.
This Is One Nice Review Media Hunter
And Also Quick Question: Since You Reviewed Anastasia Do You When You Are Going to Review Bartok The Magnificent?
And there's the Archie's Tin Lunch Box.
I wish other Sesame Street characters get movies besides from Elmo and Big Bird
We're getting another Sesame Street movie soon
@@lexramstudios1386 Really.
I love old school Sesame Street! Also, I heard Oscar was based or inspired by a cab driver.
Okay, what about it? 🤨
@ChelseaPariella Carroll Spinney gets in a cab and the driver says " Where to Mack?"
Can't you just hear Oscar saying that? 😄
Please do Elmo In Grouchland next.
I remember this movie and the children's show Sesame Street. I love seeing Kermit in this movie.
There should be a movie about Cookie monster where we need to see him eat everything and everyone.
I’d draw the line at “Everyone”. Other than that, I’m all for it.
I tried to watch the road trip movie for the muppets where they all meet for the first time 😅 I couldn’t get into it
I’m more of Grouch land adventure guy myself
Same.
do elmo in grouchland or muppets from space
Big bird is best boy
17:24 you do realize that half of Sesame Street's cast of characters are made up of monsters.
Could you review Lego Monkie Kid?
3:01 Criminal record?!
I'm as shocked as you were. Much like how shocked as I was when I found out about the scandal Kevin Clash (Elmo) was in that caused him to leave the show in 2012.
The movie would've been better if Baby Natasha had gone into the flying superbaby and kept following Big Bird during his journey, fly to get help when he got kidnapped, got in an aerial chase with a great horned owl, and fight the 2 con men during the car chase.
Can you please please please 🙏🙏🙏 do a review on Elmo in grouchland???? Please 🙏🙏🙏
14:49 - 14:52 Was there supposed to be a scene there that was cut out? Seemed really abrupt.
Ooo cool
13:37 - did that guy say "YOLO"?
At least the media hunter did a better review of follow that bird than nostalgia critic
To be fair that review was more or less meant to be the backdoor pilot for "Bum Reviews". Also watching that video at 2x speed makes it a thousand times funnier.
I love all the nods to the "Bird" Baseball teams you have the Cardinals pin flag & the one of the main antagonists wears an Orioles hat. Only one missing was a Blue Jays hat which is odd considering this was filmed in Ontario. Maybe you just didnt show a clip 🤷♂️
do firebreather next.
Ever heard of the new Monkey King movie from Netflix?
Have you done The Fox And The Hound yet?
Can you please review Jonah a VeggieTales movie?
