I did all new suspension and steering on the front of my 94 s10 5.3 swap project. Even upgraded to dual piston Blazer calipers.

Yeah I kinda thought about doing dual pistons soon. Did you happen to change the master cylinder when you did ? If not how do the brakes work with the original master ?

@SethsBudgetBuilds I did change the master cylinder to a later model one with a screw on cap. It was for a truck not a Blazer. Have not got my project on the road yet so can't say how they work.

@shadymaint1 ahh ok. I know them newer masters are designed for rear disc brakes which I wanna just keep the drums in the back so idk what I wanna do. I did a bigger brake upgrade on my tercel without changing the master and it works perfectly fine just requires a little more pressure on the peddle if you brake hard but it's not enough to care about. So I'm wondering if it would be the same on an s10

S10s eat front end parts for breakfast. On my 99 Noma I would rebuild the front end wvery couple years.

Yup the idler arm goes bad all the time and seems upper ball joints go bad alot to. I do an idler arm yearly lol. That's why I get a life time one

Cool look at a front end rebuild! Does anything contribute to the failure of the rubber bushings? They are 30 years old, but does oil spray degrade them?

Just age and weather getting wet dry wet dry plus they flex so over time they dry put crack and break apart. I had a squeak in the front end so I started spraying stuff and when I sprayed the driver upper control arm bushings with juice it stopped.

Definitely need a set for my pickup might as well just do the whole control arms my top ones are starting to get squeaky lol . Wounder how good rockauto brand stuff is on ball joints and such I know several on the forums would replace their ball joints and then some time later they would end up breaking or popping and wrecked the truck because the brand new ball joint broke I don't know exactly where they got them but that's a little concerning . Definitely do not want that to break

Rockauto doesn't have a rock auto brand. They sell multiple brands and yeah they have some super cheap ones I'd say either get moog or oem parts on rock auto or just pick up some at the parts store. I've honestly never had any issues with rockauto cheap parts. My control arms are from rock auto I paid 35 each for them so far they are fine. I've bought cheap upper control arms before for my Jimmy and they are still on it today.

@@SethsBudgetBuilds interesting yeah I know they didn't do like brands per-say of their own but there's like 3 or so different types on there and prices for them and I'm like hmm wounder what would be good or best to trust , the cheapest or the middle or highest .
Rockauto is definitely cheaper for a control arm lol that's for sure . The boots on my control arms are busted too a bit I can still grease them but it just doesn't last long and with the squeaking I have that driving me Nuts

@@SethsBudgetBuilds but I'll definitely look into that then . Not many people really mentioned much about it unless one breaks on the fourms

@@KnuckleHeadGarage27 I bought the SKP ones on rock auto. I've honestly used SKP stuff a hand full of times and never had an issue yet. So maybe go with those 🤷.

To stop the squeeking sounds. Just spray the bushing with pb blaster or wd40. "Craigslist" new bushings. Lol

Love this!! im working on my 92 short bed 4x4 and was wondering how bad its gonna be to do the front end.

    • @SethsBudgetBuilds

It's honestly not to bad. The pitman arms the hardest cause you have to remove the steering box off the frame and you can twist it and remove it or pull the whole box out and do it on a bench otherwise the rest is pretty simply to do. But definitely definitely will need an alignment after this hahaha. That's why I just said screw it and did everything do this front end shouldn't need attention for a good few years at least
