"The quality of the CX-9 interior will...."
Well, that really made no sense. The Mazda's interior is certainly more beautiful in my eye, but if I spend a lot of time in my car and plan to be very active with it, I would think interior comfort and space would be much more important than perceived interior quality. It makes me wonder how much time CA reviewers actually spend doing everyday things in their vehicles.

The presenters at Car Advice are probably too loaded to drive compromised vehicles or be concerned with "everyday" things. That's just for us plebs who are forced to be in traffic all week.

Those vehicles with "stuck on" screens like in the Mazda really do make it look like an afterthought rather than integrated.
The front air vents in the Mazda also look too small and out of proportion. Who was the doofus who thought hiding the rear USB ports like that was a good idea?

Resale value on the Mazda will be better in Australia because almost no one has ever heard of the Acadia let alone sought to buy one.
I feel that if you left the original GMC badge on, it screams big American, powerful and roomy SUV and would get more attention.
If anyone from Holden is reading this, can you have the GMC badges as an option?

If they did that they would have to bring multiple carbrands to oz. (chevrolet, gmc and opel in the old days) but they can all sell them as holdens

I agree. When I see anything new with a Holden badge I automatically assume it's some cheap Malaysian car with a slapped on Holden badge. They're like the Kogan of cars. The front end of the Arcadia looks like a Haval or Great Wall product.

    • @XXB4XX

Could not agree more. I've been saying this for a while. They need to kill off the Holden brand altogether and just leave them badged as chev.

    It’s a real shame.
Holden should of simply replaced the outgoing Aussie built Commy with the Arcadia.
It’s actually not a bad car.

    Cons:
    - Pricey, and not as efficient as the CX-8 diesel on the highways (if you do a lot of that).
    - Lots of other 7 seaters competing it this class (worldwide - other markets included) that beat it in luxury, comfort, refinement or even off-road capability.
    - What you did: the looks and the Mazda badge are not that appealing to some. Personally though, I love it and am also a long-time Mazda fan.
    Pros:
    - The CX-9 is probably the best Japanese competitor in this large SUV class, as it does " many things right" (agreed), and is also a driver's car (good to drive & good communication from the car to the driver), that offers all the things we Zoom-Zoom fans come to expect from Mazda - while still being luxurious and refined enough. It beats the CX-8 (I tested them back to back) in those fields, has more inner space, and doesn't feel much bigger when you drive it. Enthusiasts like me/us, would almost certainly prefer the CX-9's turbocharged petrol.
    - A little subjective, but I love Mazda's interiors and careful/smart designs, seats and seating positions, steering and feedback, simple yet effective layout of things and how the safety and drive aids have been set up. This is a difficult mixture to get right, and many other brands have let me down here.
    - Decently good or better reliability, compared to what else is on offer in this large SUV category. The CX-9 is one of the lightest and most efficient and reliable vehicles in its class, and in most countries I travel to often, they have good second hand values - hold their value well. Their designs (in and out), that are often iconic, unique, and ahead of its time, usually mature well and help it hold its value. Good after-sales service as well in most (not all) countries.
    Cheers ✌️

I'm not an Arcadia expert by any means, but CA have a history of glossing over horrific omissions in GM's products. If it quotes 12's in l/100km around town it is likely 15's in real life, thats unnaceptable for that level of performance. Also, the centre console closing action on the Holden seems like one of the great automotive disappointments of 2019.

I love the simplicity and comfort of the interior but aside that its a lot of fun to drive. The power is amazing you actually feel it when you drive it the technology inside is pretty good too a lot of use for a long drive travel and The space inside this car is worth than the cx9 and kluger that also the 1 thing that hit me to choose this over the two.

Marc Stolk, for me owning an AWD kluger, the fuel consumption is nothing to worry about as I’m on the freeway the majority of my working day anyway... and for me to pull my boat (sometimes on a 6 hr journey) the CX9 simply wouldn’t do it as comfortably as my Kluger. To address your customer service point with Holden, I’ve owned 4 and currently own a VF and have never had an issue with the aftercare. As a matter of fact it’s better that Toyota’s.
