- In this Accounting Tutorial we explore the SIMILARITIES and DIFFERENCES between Managerial Accounting and Financial Accounting. Up until now, the topics that I've covered in the 'Accounting Basics' playlist have tended to fall within the realm of Financial Accounting. However, Accounting is much bigger than just Financial Accounting. You can think of it as a tree with many branches... and another of these branches is Management Accounting.
But what is Management Accounting? And how is it different to Financial Accounting? All will become clear in this video.

I know you wanna work on the fundamentals before tackling more advanced topics, so I would suggest inventory valuation, (IFRS) revenue recognition, bond amortization, gains and losses (realized and/or unrealized).

:)) ACCA gives and requires much more deep understanding of accounting stuff whilst this guys channel is for accounting beginners nontheless I found it very helpful in preparing for fundamentals of ACCA (eg F1,F2,F3) cause thorough understanding of basics is the key to success, so keep it up and u'll do it!
Excellent channel, motivates me to finish my accounting degree I always wanted to use it as a safe alternative because of job security and me watching one of your videos motivated to keep pushing forward.

James, I just want to say thank you so much for posting this video! I have watched a lot of your videos in the past and they are extremely helpful, the best on TH-cam.
I am currently doing the AAT bookkeeping and accounting course, and even with all my material and Kaplan books I still can't summarise and grasp all the information in one piece.
You present this in such a great way and in 9 minutes it explains the whole of unit one of my book which takes me 3 days to read through. (both are a necessity) but this helps me understand and I love the visuals.

Hey mate, thanks for getting in touch! I originally studied accounting at Kaplan as well - what a coincidence! Their notes are very detailed but it can be hard work getting through them.
I think you are approaching your studies from the right angle. Reading the core course materials and getting summaries from TH-cam at the same time. I will this was possible when I was at Kaplan (almost 10 year ago now :/).
Getting the ACA definitely made it easy for me to find work when I moved out to Aus. Hopefully you'll find it the same as well.
Currently I offer all the content for free because I want to help as many people as possible with the subject. Some day I might make a more cohesive course and put it on Patreon. But as of now I'm just happy knowing that you are finding the content useful. All the best with your studies!
@@AccountingStuff 100-percent, James. I absolutely agree, the Kaplan books are a lifesaver, although, it does take time (as you said) to get through. Not to mention some of their classic mistakes in their answers. But they're great, I can't fault them.

Explanation 5 is also somewhat correct. Your internal policies are typically based on IFRS or GAAP. Remember at the year end the same management accounts are audited.
