the owners club was called the Mz riders club... the bikes had quite a few fans.... just simple reliable... totally enclosed chain lasted for ever... it was great fun to ride
Easy to ride - soft & comfy saddle - low maintenance - cheap & cheerful - nothing to look at, but so much fun once you're on you'd ride until the tank runs dry - the scope for innuendo is quite extensive. Joking aside, an honest and practical motorbike, and no doubt a future classic.
Used to be the BMW guys put them away for the winter and used their winter hack MZs! over the years Iv'e had 3 , a super 5 and an etz 250, and now I have a mint ets trophy sport! all used for riding to work, super reliable and most problems are easy to fix, the MZ community is very strong in the UK , and These bikes will still be around when most of the modern stuff has rotted away!
I bought one just like this secondhand in the early 80's for which I paid the princely sum of 60 quid. The price was depressed because the 125 cc learner law had just come into play. It's great to see one in such nice condition. Astonishing to see how well they have kept their value. BTW it likely smokes too much because the petroil mix is too rich in two stroke oil. Early ones ran on 25:1 later ones needed 50:1.
I had a few of them back in the day, including the amazingly ugly and very rare ETS250....very high quality build...but woeful drum brakes. They took the criticism on board and bought the patterns for the Brembo disc brake fitted to various big BMW's and that was nearly worse, just looking at it would bottom the forks out and overwhelm the terrible "Pneumat" OE tyres ...but at least you could put thicker fork oil in and change the rubber....nothing would improve the drum. Very torquey and low revving..I remember riding all day on my ETZ 251 holding 80mph up hill and down dale fully loaded, two up on the motorway at about 5000rpm. I never really got the 150...odd capacity...and the DKW engine did feel pretty old fashioned...the later ETZ engine benefitted from its refresh and felt a lot more current..though still low revving. I bought a Jawa 350 thinking I was getting something similar, I wasn't, it was absolute shite lol
Far and away the best of the utilitarian bikes. A quality piece of kit in disguise!
MZ really was the homely girl of the bike world, everyone had ridden her but nobody would admit it.😂
Ring ding ding ding 🤔😊😂🤣

Great little bike. I had a 250mz with a squire junior chair fitted to her back in the early 90s. Had some great fun on that outfit.
at the Dragon Rallys the M Z riders were always there . great little bikes .

great bike.. ideal for a tour around Europe..😊
THE 250's are flying machines.. so I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't nimble too!
Basic, reliable two-wheeled transport.
That is truly an epic machine . I am liking I have similar eastern bloc product, much smoke also❤

I've owned the ts250 and etz250. Liked em. But £1500? Mind you there are lots of mugs out there. 😅
Bargain 👍
They found a way to recycle all those baked bean cans.
FIFTEEN HUNDRED POUNDS! I guess someone will pay it.
😂
It may be ugly, but it is a two stroke ! How much ?
9 seconds in there is a price tag of £1500
