That’s dry stone walling, except for the fireplace and mud mortar. Even out in the open it can last centuries. We have a lot of it in the UK dividing fields and property. It’s amazing to see it seemingly marching up hills and down dale, a solemn testimony to the skill of our ancestors. Unfortunately it’s now a dying skill, like hedging and ditching. It’s wonderful to watch this skilled master at work.
Love the way he builds Double Row Walls and doesn't just throw one rock on top of another. Each rock is FITTED into position so it will last forever. This Cave is big enough for quite a large family and well protected as well. Don't know whether there are mountain lions or other predators but seems very nice to me to live in.

I came back to watch this video again, partly because I appreciate your efforts, but also because I am confused. First, why do you make these spots? If they are only for your own personal fun great. But if they are intended for others to find and camp in... why are the doorways always so skinny? If a matron of a nomadic family tries to enter, will she fit? I ask because I would have a tough time squeezing in, especially if I had a child on my hip. The next question also concerns size. With such a sizable cave, why is the stone building area so small? If this is intended for others' to eventually find and occupy, how many people can squeeze inside and be safe and warm? It seems very tight. The use of what is on hand is what really adds to your efforts. You do not leave behind plastic tarps that will poison the planet. Keep up the good work. p.s. I would still find it tricky to move in and out of your skinny doorways without worrying that I would knock them over. I hike too, but females are built a bit wider in the rump one we reach a certain age. At least this one is. 😉
I can just imagine a hiker, trekker or some modern day explorer coming across this and marvelling about how well made and preserved this ancient structure is! 😁 Judging by the blackened ceiling I would imagine it has been used as a shelter many times in the past.
