I can see a big difference in that lawn, wow you making me want to buy some of that harraels Fertilizer but I don't know where I can get it in North Georgia. Also doesn't some of that fertilizer have potassium in it in the bag with some of those prills be potassium? Which I know it's not a lot but still
I was just looking at my lawn and thinking what I could do to make it grow.. I’ve been following you for a while now and my yard is green and weedless. In March I spread 1/2 lb nitrogen per 1000sq/ft 16-4-8 and my grass is thin and not spreading. Should I just add 1 lb nitrogen of 30-0-8 per 1000sq/ft to get it to spread more? Or could be be another issue like not enough water? I live in Georgia zone 8b. I wish I could send you a photo of my lawn. Best wishes and keep up the great content!
Get a soil analysis done. See what the PH is. The correct PH will make the nutrients you're putting down more available to the roots. There are other factors as well, but we always start with a soil test. You don't want to be putting too much of something your grass already has and not enough of something it needs more of. Hence the 3 numbers on the bag, N-P-K. Get the right "blend" of fertilizer. 👍
So 20 percent is really only 10 percent? I bought a bag the man said it was 20 percent , I turned the dial to 4 1/2 and put it out as far as it would go. I have 5 acre's, 2 1/2 is forest that I have thinned out, but I care more about the grass closer to the house. Should I go get the 38/8?
Hey Jason... I thought Zoysia can only take 2lbs of Nitrogen per 1K sq ft...per year. You said you are applying 1 lb this application...so are you going to apply 3 more times this season with 1 lb? Location: Alabama. I’ve read that half a pound per application; but the total shouldn’t go over 2 lbs...because fungus issues starts and Zoysia doesn’t require not over 2 lbs per 1K sq ft per year. Am I missing something? Or should I ask how many lbs per 1K in the year here in Alabama is the limit for Zoysia?
@@daviddsims Me too.....I just need him to clarify because all the reading I’ve looked at has total 2 lbs per 1K per year...that’s why I only apply 4 times @ .5 lbs per 1K.
It's a slow-release fertilizer that last for about 4 months. That will be the only fertilizer I put on that lawn all year. If you're using quick release fertilizer, then you could do a half a pound of N 4 times
@@lawncarelife thanks for the explanation. I’ve been putting out slow release 13-5-8 four times a year at 1/2 lb each time. That may be why I’m not getting the best response.
Jason i didn’t even see you doing some type of calibration in order to find out how much product it is throwing down... so how do you know how much fertilizer is going down?
Jason please where gloves when handling any materials or containers that have herbicide in them or even empty containers.Your content is always first class and helpful.
I didn't know a chest spreader was a thing before today. Thanks for video
Dig the intro, very fancy!
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY MY FRIEND 👍🤓🇺🇸
Happy Memorial day
I started the month off with that fertilizer on yards and I like it , can see the pellets on the ground for along time haha
8:33 nope not hard to tell at all!
That yard looks amazing! 👍
thanks Jason!
Just curious the cost of that fertilizer? Never heard of it before. Thanks for the video pretty helpful.
Awesome video. Got a question, can i apply 46-0-0 at lb of N every week on bermuda if im trying to fill in spots? Thanks in advance

Does your pounds of nitrogen rule of dividing first number by 2 only work for 50 pound bags?
Yes

38% N * 50 lb/bag = 19 lb N / bag

I had the exact same question. I’m doing 1/2 pound 4 times a year on my zoysia.

That strip is called The parking , Colorado anyway. How soon do I used the slow release nitrogen after 2 weeks ago I use the fast kind release?
I love to try some Harrells fertilizer. Is there a way to buy some other than hiring someone to spread for me?
I don't think they typically sell to homeowners
Jason, what about feed and seed stores, in Sneed Alabama they have a good store
2 lbs N in 1 treatment? How many treatments this season?
That is the only one it will need. The slow-release fertilizer will feed it for the rest of this growing season
Thanks Jason! I thought all granular was slow release, unless otherwise stated on the bag. Time to go read the bags in the garage.

He literally never touched or handled any herbicides in this video. Not once. He always wear personal protective equipment when he applies herbicides.
The reason I made that comment is simply genuine concern.

A lot of that fertilizer ends up in the lake. Not good
