God must have known I needed to hear this about reframing the narrative in such a specific way to allow Jesus to be in the center of it. Asking Jesus for the TRUE narrative vs. buying into my version of it. So helpful. Thanks guys 🙏
I’m familiar with “the story I’m telling myself” tool from psychology, but love the step of asking Jesus to give me the rewrite or more true story. What a rescue!
This episode was absolutely life-giving and brought so much this holiday season... asking Jesus to help us rewrite the holiday narrative... absolute game changer...
Christmas with the parents. I learned about setting those boundaries with my parents from the Cloud and Townsend book, Boundaries. It is so awesome that John is bringing up this example in light of re-writing the narrative.
This was so good - I may use this video as a focus time for my entire family as we gather at this Christmas - a great tool for anytime of the year but especially around the challenges of Christmas and the sometimes difficult waters of Christmas.
Thank you both for sharing this and giving us tools to work with. Huge Thank You for being absolutely authentic and transparent with your personal situations and experiences. What a blessing you all are! ✝️
Wow, this was SO needed! I have a romanticized longing for "magical" holiday experiences and find myself making agreements with disappointment, shaped from my past and from loss and loneliness. I'm thankful for this podcast and the tool of identifying the narratives I'm telling myself, saying them out loud (or journaling them to get them out of my inner thoughts) and asking Jesus to reframe them and give me the TRUE narrative. The Henry Nouwen quote, "Answers before the questions do damage to the soul" really resonates in my spirit! Grateful for this shared nugget of wisdom! Thank you so much!
I’m in a situation with two different groups that aren’t responding to my texts or emails, and this just kept me from blowing up these relationships. I’m going to talk it over with Jesus and let Him lead. I’m very grateful for you guys, God speaks to me through your work all the time! Blessings to all the Wild at Heart team this Advent, Merry Christmas!
Wow. This was so good as it exposed this narrative that was so false and that if I failed to do thus and such over Christmas, then I am a total failure as a man. Thank you so much.
I actually don’t respond to texts right away because I choose to not let my phone run my life. It is hard for others to understand because they expect responses right away.

Merry Christmas!
Our kids have rejected counseling and working on our relationship, and it’s absolutely crushing to us. We feel so alone.
We're so sorry to hear this!
This episode really speaks to me. I just listened to it again! Thank you both!

Thanks guys. I need this advice.
So helpful to stop the self-talk before we fall into the ruts from our past.
Just a little thing...thank you also❤
Thanks for your helpful perspective! 😊
Answers before questions are damaging to the soul WOW
