The problem with enel is his speed, and the fact that he doesn't have armament. Luffy was able to hit him, thats the problem. Also, he wasn't too strong without his devil fruit, exactly why he needs armament, other than his pole, he didn't really have any combative fighting style.
Not rlly. We saw just recently in Wano that top tiers can nullify elemental weaknesses. Aramaki did it, and Aokiji is stronger than him, so he definitely did it too. Would Akainu still have an advantage? Yes. Is it a “massive” advantage? No, not at all. It’s super minor
Green bull didn't "nullify" his type disadvantage he just trained his df to be resistant to normal fire it's shown with a boro breath that he still has a weakness And so aokiji wouldn't be able to nullify the magmas heat because they are on the same level
I love that Enel was such a smart fighter too tho. His scheme wasn't as grand and calculated as Crocodile's, but he definitely rivals him in intelligence, and his plans didn't need to be so calculated because he was just that powerful thay steamrolling people in his way was easier. But immediately after realizing that electricity wouldn't work directly, he set to work reshaping gold with electromagnetic forces into a trident for stabbing, and tried burning with molten gold. He knew exactly how to best use his power cuz
Now he even has an army and a massive supply of ancient moon tech. Considering that with the proper workforce, he was able to make a super weapon that almost perfectly complements his abilities out of more or less basic materials, the possibilities are limitless.
Thats precesilly why Enel was one of Odas biggest ass pulls Enel was waaaay faster than Luffy had Ob. Haki and had a weapon he could use to stab, trap, torture in fact he could do what ever he wanted with Luffy cause he was just that stronger but no Oda just pulled a W for Luffy up his ass

When you look at the feats of enel it becomes clear that he’s on the level of a yonko commander. He can literally destroy islands, something only admirals and yonkos have been shown to do, has observation haki with a larger distance then literally any other character in the entire show, including katakuri, luffy and kaido, the three greatest masters of haki in the series. He has a speed comparable to kizaru, one of the fastest characters in the series, able to practically teleport with his insane speed. His only flaw was his durability, being far less durable then any of the yonko commanders, mainly due to his lack of armament haki and having literally never been hit before. Outside mihawk and the admirals he’s the strongest character any strawhat has fought before the time skip, and if he had armament haki I’d bet he could take out most of the yonko commanders fairly easily. He’s completely overpowered and the only reason luffy won was cause he was rubber.
The problem with Enel is that his durability, combat skill, strength, haki, and ESPECIALLY speed are all trash. Any character we've met with even basic armament destroys him. This is because despite the type advantage, Luffy pre gears or haki was able to keep up with and even hurt him. Skypeia luffy isn't doing anything to any of the yonko commanders if you take their devil fruits away, but he was able to beat Enel. Give Blueno a pair of rubber gloves and he blitzes and arguably 1 taps Enel
Bruh enel phyiscally weak af and Haki is horrible 😭 he isn't even warlord level (without mihawk) powerful df sure but that doesn't change the fact that bro was physically beaten by fucking post time skip luffy. Even if his fruit was countered, he should have base armament haki. Yet he can't even physically beat post time skip. The only reason he seemed powerful was because no one had haki at the time. If they had haki, he would have been low - mid diff 🤷♂️
He definitely cares not about the math, but the power scaling relates to the hype of the character which Oda oftenly goes out of his way to show. That's why bounties exist and why there are such regimented ranks in all crews and the marines. Every crew except the straw hats which are the one crew he doesn't need to hype up
@sithedgehogs No, it's not what everyone does. Good stories require a degree a let's call it predictability. Boundaries and limitations allow for tension and danger and prevent grotesque power escalations we often see in stories like One Piece. I will always be more invested in the earlier story across, where the threats felt real and not contrived.
@sithedgehogs A power system needs to be handled carefully in order to not ruin the world building. I personally don't like the fact that sword fighting in One Piece is either shooting lasers or wave of wind, requiring little to no actual blade contact. I don't like that guns lost any meaning. I don't like the fact that Blackbeard's ability to stop a Devil fruit's power, which made him uniquely dangerous, can now be imitated by anyone as long as they have 'haki', a system not set in hard rules meaning any character at any point could have it. I don't like the fact that Devil fruit users became more common than regular fighter (goons and nameless crew mates that are taken out by one hit don't count). I don't like that everyone became a literal giant. To me, it's difficult to feel invested in a world that keeps getting more absurd by the chapter.

There's many different aspects to a characters capability such as; Devil fruits = Dreams Haki = willpower Conquerers haki = ambition Strength = muscle Obs haki = spirituality Bounty = Threat Awakened df = body & dream in sync. And lastly Fate plays a big part of the storyline too. We see countless moments where characters specialise in certain aspects of their capabilities but lack in others. You can break down any villain or character to match those traits and see exactly why they lost/won a fight. Kaido: Dream: His dream to start chaos and find joyboy earnt him a DF that lent to his tyranical power. Willpower: he had such a strong will to fulfilling his dream that his body was hardened Ambition: his ambition was so great people couldn't even scratch him, even with strong willpower Muscle: he was born with incredible strength from his body Obvs haki: i dont believe he was shown to use advanced obvs haki because he lacked ascended spirituality. Threat: his threat to the WG was high because they couldn't execute him, so he earnt an intense bounty. Awakened fruit: all of his powers weren't in sync because he lacked the spirituality in his dream to meet joyboy and start a war so his DF didnt Awaken. It didn't need to. And lastly Fate lead him to achieve his dreams which was to start a war and meet joyboy. Luffy ended up winning because he ticked more boxes in the end, even though kaido did trump luffys muscle and arnamnet haki. Luffy is the only character to surpass his enemies in every one of those aspects which is why he wins. His fight with katakuri shows this because katakuri is mocking luffy saying that he can do everything he can do better but in truth he couldnt. Luffy can do this because of his DF is broken BECAUSE his dream and ambition is the biggest of all characters in the story, meaning he draws all his capabilities from his dream alone because that's what one piece is about. Dreaming big.
Enel's biggest issue was that he was a big fish in a small pond. His natural Haki and devil fruit put him at such an advantage over everyone else in his little corner of the world, he had no need to get stronger. A blue sea Enel would be terrifying, not that white sea Enel isn't already. If he'd have had any reason to train his combat effectiveness, he'd be in the running for fleet admiral. Probably too young for it, but he'd be next in line after Sakazuki
enel´s observation haki was so broken he could see hours into the future and predict how many people would be left standing in his little battle royale, also he could listen in on conversations that happened far away. like you said enel´s only problem was he had no reason to train and he probably never heard about armament haki. can you imagine someone blitzing around at near lightspeed with haki and enel df? luffy and blackbeard might be the only ones able to deafeat him and maybe kaido. and even those would not be guaranteed wins

Almost all new world fighters have insane durability that even getting strucked by a lightning only put a bruises on them. Do you watch skypiea arc? If you do, you should've know how many people that survives his attack. Like Wyper, Sanji, or Ussop. I'm sure post-ts fighters has more durability than pre-ts Ussop and Wyper. Also, he can't see shit into the future. He only predicting stuff! That's different than seeing the future like Katakuri. If he can see into the future then it'd be easy for him to dodge Luffy attack aimed at the wall.
It's primarily because of his reliance on his fruit he had a relaxed attitude but intelligence to maintain his lifestyle. The relaxed mind develops observation haki but he was treated like a spoiled God and not used to being contested physically. He was however able to use his fruit create loopholes like forging a golden ball and slipping through gold. If he was actually contested regularly and taught armament haki, he would be commander grade.
Enel would genuinely be terrifying if he grew up on the world below and was able to learn about Haki and its different types. He just never really had a good fight, so he could only learn so much
The other thing to pay attention to is how good/willing the characters are at using their abilities to the fullest. Foxy's slowdown could be devastating if used by someone who was a tactical thinker and not a lazy coward. And Robin could easily injure or kill almost anyone short of the Admirals and Yonko, except that she doesn't hurt people unless she has to.
Bounty ain’t a power scale but threat to gov. Usually people with higher bounties are typically stronger but it’s still only based on threat. For example usopp. He has a really high bounty for not being such a big threat but since he was deemed “God usopp” they took him as a threat.

Enel is one of the most underrated characters in one piece. He’s shown to be powerful and great use of observation haki, but he’s considered weak due to luffy being the perfect counter to him
He’s overrated as hell. People put him at Yonko commander level. Doffy would oneshot him, and he’s only YC3 at BEST. Hell, even Pica could oneshot him.
Luffy didn’t counter him, he was just able to punch him, that’s not a hard counter. Enel had so many advantages over Luffy it was insane, and he still managed to fuck it up, I think it was Smoker that said logia types often die young since they think they’re on top of the world until they run into a haki user, which is basically what happened here.
The guy got manhandled by pre gear luffy who was to fast for him with a giant golden ball on his arm meant to slow him down. In the new world he would get packed up so quick
Power escalation itself is a huge problem in many shōnen anime/manga. Many scenes, characters and story elements become absurd retroactively and tension decreases because the enemies have to reach ridiculous levels of strength to be a threat for the heroes.
Eneru was god. He wasn’t even really lying if you think about it he literally was god in almost every sense imaginable. Honestly he’s deadass a great villain and really gets overlooked.

I mean, Enel was figuring ways around the type advantage pretty quickly despite never having heard of rubber before in his entire life. If he had been a denizen of the Blue Seas, he would probably have had effective workarounds long since mastered by the time he would have to fight a rubber man, especially since every Logia who intends to be a major player is going to have to figure out a way to deal with Armament Haki in any case, whose effect on Logias is more or less identical to what rubber does to him.
Enel destroyed a fluffy cloud island which could easily be cut through with a hunting knife by Robin. Its not really a crazy feat to destroy a big fluffy cloud.
It is true that Enel is severely underrated. Other than haki and Luffy he is invincible. Also, he can restart his own heart. About what you said for power scaling, it's indeed hard to do in a world where there are both devil fruits and haki, and some people we know barely anything about
I think one piece fans need to accept that there is no true power scale/ hierarchy, the fights are just determined on what the plot needs to advance the story. I don’t think Oda really cares about the science behind potential matchups, he’ll do what he needs to make sure the story moves along accordingly

Yes, however this hierarchy is not just Devilfruit based. It all comes down to how much mastery over your power you have. Yes, powers like the pika-pika Fruit are Overpowered, but no matter what your fruit is your growth is the most important. Even with their Devil fruits Admirals wouldn't be such badasses if they did not know how to use them to their Advantage. Luffy is a great example. For most Pre-time skip he only uses his powers to punch from distance. Then we see Gear-2. A technique that needs you to Understand your power to pull it off

A piece of rubber engulfed in the type of electricity that Enel used on Luffy would vaporize it from the heat. Your standard bolt of lightning has heat approximately 3 times that of the surface of the Sun.
But it doesn't evaporate it, because of the short time the lighning is around because of speed and spread. So because its logia he should be hot all the time, but i didn't saw Kizaru seting things on fire whereever he is stepping on (Because all light/Laser) so there are limitations to everything

Enel has amazing levels of observation haki, plus I’m sure he could use the other forms too, and on top of that had one of the best logia’s with insane offensive power, Invulnerable to everything except rubber, could teleport and fly anywhere any time, and as fast as fucking lightning. Enel just had no concept of the world or scale of power he lived in. He's like a seven foot tall kid playing basketball in the boonies. He could have been one of the greats but he was never around a challenge or anyone to show him what he was missing or what he was even doing right. He could have challenged admirals and yonkos if he had the knowledge and time to train Luffy has had now. It's crazy that Luffy basically defeated someone at commander level strength without realizing it.
It’s a great example of how fighting works in real life too. You would think the bigger guys would always beat smaller guys or what not, but it all comes down to match ups and how you can counter the other person .
Honestly, that's also why I feel like Kid and Law really don't deserve a 3 billion berries bounty for beating Big Mom. They fought well sure but at the end of the day, they won purely because Law had the only Devil Fruit in the world who could bypass Big Mom's defense.

I wasn't going to comment on this but after reading some of the comments, I've realized that they forget the fact that Eneru can literally destroy islands. PTS Lucci would die before he gets close enough to even touch him. That's if he can even touch him. This guy has one of the best observation hackies out there. Do you think Lucci can overcome that? Lucci is smart he can not do anything without thinking about it first. Which means he is doomed. Enel may even be able to beat Ace. Not to mention Lucci. Unless you can survive being hit by lightning, don't try to face Eneru because you will die before you even hit him once.

Very much as pretty intentional with power scaling and the complexities of devil fruit abilities just help complicate that. Also enel probably would not have double the bouncy on yanko crew. While his devil fruit is strong as hell. Without any armament, he's getting low diffed by anyone around the 1B mark
Note that his bounty would be around 500M with ONLY strength. We all know your bounty is reflected off your actions, not strength (look to Luffy, Law and Kid having the same bounty after wano), so I think his bounty would actually be even higher if he was on the seas for a little bit and caused some mayhem.

People forget that, Enel's motive was to reach the moon with his Ark Maxim. And when Skypiea ended, he did just that. Even when the straw hats were literally broken and Luffy "won" due to tko.

Honestly, in fruit stats only. The Goro Goro No Mi could probably be like top 5 best fruits. Like it’s non-awakened form can destroy a whole island. And not to mention how mouvementas it is. Like imagine you’re on Onigashma fighting someone who can use lighting. Like they can teleport wherever they want using all the thunder from the clouds. I feel like his fruit could pair up rly well with Big Mom. Cuz she can do that big sword beam and if it misses Enel can control it to hit any target. And also while using his observation haki, he can extend and bend its trajectory to reach the target. I may be coping hard but that combo could easily solo Kaido hybrid form 😤

Low-key the psychic dark type fights, in Pokémon games, using stab only movesets, no psychic type attack lands, yet the dark type hits like a freight train, getting free stat boosting turns, just imagine the grief, of your fruit being weak to your enemies fruit, yet your the only one, available to run the hands with, that doesn’t end up as a jumping, you essentially have to switch to an approach of punch, kick slash, stab and do whatever it takes to survive.
The fact that enel’s power was so OP and he used it perfectly and he only losed to luffy cause he was made of rubber was actually smart it made luffy win but at the same time showed us how many strong people there are and how luffy still had a long way to go
This is my dream superpower. Youre basically a god. You can read people's minds, you have telekinesis, speed, strength, regeneration, infinite knowledge because of the internet, flight, like so many.
If one piece was a video game or dnd campaign, Skypeia wasn’t supposed to be done early,in fact, it wasn’t supposed to be accessible until a hidden event, which the straw hats managed to figure out, honestly if it wasn’t for skypeia arc, the ones after would have been impossible to handle
“Enel’s fruit was strong enough to annihilate an entire island” This was done with the Arc Maxim producing charged clouds that increased Enel’s lightning power 10x over, so it’s not even like his fruit abilities scale to this. And even assuming that Enel scales to the lower ends of island busting AP, Luffy himself scales to this (via being able to damage Enel at all, and his Gold Rifle being calced to island level AP), and he already gets power cliffed by Enis Lobby, in power and in speed.
Type advantage is huge early on but in the new world I feel like it's mostly about haki. Enel had cracked observation haki but if he had even decent armament haki he wouldn't have lost.
This really only applies to pre timeskip tbh, there's definitely a point in powerscaling after haki is introduced. I mean it took Luffy from getting one-shotted by Kaido to going blow-for-blow with him. It's to the point where anybody with decent armament mastery would put up a fight against Enel. He's not like ace, who actually is skilled without his df. He's more of a glass cannon.
I'm currently rewatching and at the point they're rescuing Robin from Enies Lobby and I completely forgot about that weird doriki powerscaling CP9 had going at the time.
He has a great combination of observation Haki and range, like he could kill people without ever seeing them, with his eyes Enel would be great at causing chaos in a massive battle like imagine during marine Ford random lighting strikes just hit marines when ever they were getting the upper hand in a fight as well as lots of other ones finishing off weaker marines he like a perfect artillery and or assassin.

The problem with enel is his speed, and the fact that he doesn't have armament. Luffy was able to hit him, thats the problem. Also, he wasn't too strong without his devil fruit, exactly why he needs armament, other than his pole, he didn't really have any combative fighting style.

Now he even has an army and a massive supply of ancient moon tech. Considering that with the proper workforce, he was able to make a super weapon that almost perfectly complements his abilities out of more or less basic materials, the possibilities are limitless.

When you look at the feats of enel it becomes clear that he’s on the level of a yonko commander. He can literally destroy islands, something only admirals and yonkos have been shown to do, has observation haki with a larger distance then literally any other character in the entire show, including katakuri, luffy and kaido, the three greatest masters of haki in the series. He has a speed comparable to kizaru, one of the fastest characters in the series, able to practically teleport with his insane speed. His only flaw was his durability, being far less durable then any of the yonko commanders, mainly due to his lack of armament haki and having literally never been hit before. Outside mihawk and the admirals he’s the strongest character any strawhat has fought before the time skip, and if he had armament haki I’d bet he could take out most of the yonko commanders fairly easily. He’s completely overpowered and the only reason luffy won was cause he was rubber.

The problem with Enel is that his durability, combat skill, strength, haki, and ESPECIALLY speed are all trash. Any character we've met with even basic armament destroys him. This is because despite the type advantage, Luffy pre gears or haki was able to keep up with and even hurt him. Skypeia luffy isn't doing anything to any of the yonko commanders if you take their devil fruits away, but he was able to beat Enel. Give Blueno a pair of rubber gloves and he blitzes and arguably 1 taps Enel

He definitely cares not about the math, but the power scaling relates to the hype of the character which Oda oftenly goes out of his way to show. That's why bounties exist and why there are such regimented ranks in all crews and the marines. Every crew except the straw hats which are the one crew he doesn't need to hype up

I don't like the fact that Devil fruit users became more common than regular fighter (goons and nameless crew mates that are taken out by one hit don't count).
I don't like that everyone became a literal giant.
To me, it's difficult to feel invested in a world that keeps getting more absurd by the chapter.

Haki = willpower
Conquerers haki = ambition
Strength = muscle
Obs haki = spirituality

Awakened df = body & dream in sync.
And lastly Fate plays a big part of the storyline too.
We see countless moments where characters specialise in certain aspects of their capabilities but lack in others. You can break down any villain or character to match those traits and see exactly why they lost/won a fight.
Kaido:
Dream: His dream to start chaos and find joyboy earnt him a DF that lent to his tyranical power.
Willpower: he had such a strong will to fulfilling his dream that his body was hardened
Ambition: his ambition was so great people couldn't even scratch him, even with strong willpower
Muscle: he was born with incredible strength from his body
Obvs haki: i dont believe he was shown to use advanced obvs haki because he lacked ascended spirituality.
Threat: his threat to the WG was high because they couldn't execute him, so he earnt an intense bounty.
Awakened fruit: all of his powers weren't in sync because he lacked the spirituality in his dream to meet joyboy and start a war so his DF didnt Awaken. It didn't need to.
And lastly Fate lead him to achieve his dreams which was to start a war and meet joyboy.
Luffy ended up winning because he ticked more boxes in the end, even though kaido did trump luffys muscle and arnamnet haki. Luffy is the only character to surpass his enemies in every one of those aspects which is why he wins. His fight with katakuri shows this because katakuri is mocking luffy saying that he can do everything he can do better but in truth he couldnt. Luffy can do this because of his DF is broken BECAUSE his dream and ambition is the biggest of all characters in the story, meaning he draws all his capabilities from his dream alone because that's what one piece is about. Dreaming big.
Enel's biggest issue was that he was a big fish in a small pond. His natural Haki and devil fruit put him at such an advantage over everyone else in his little corner of the world, he had no need to get stronger.
A blue sea Enel would be terrifying, not that white sea Enel isn't already. If he'd have had any reason to train his combat effectiveness, he'd be in the running for fleet admiral.
Probably too young for it, but he'd be next in line after Sakazuki
enel´s observation haki was so broken he could see hours into the future and predict how many people would be left standing in his little battle royale, also he could listen in on conversations that happened far away.

If he can see into the future then it'd be easy for him to dodge Luffy attack aimed at the wall.
It's primarily because of his reliance on his fruit he had a relaxed attitude but intelligence to maintain his lifestyle. The relaxed mind develops observation haki but he was treated like a spoiled God and not used to being contested physically. He was however able to use his fruit create loopholes like forging a golden ball and slipping through gold. If he was actually contested regularly and taught armament haki, he would be commander grade.
Enel would genuinely be terrifying if he grew up on the world below and was able to learn about Haki and its different types. He just never really had a good fight, so he could only learn so much
The other thing to pay attention to is how good/willing the characters are at using their abilities to the fullest. Foxy's slowdown could be devastating if used by someone who was a tactical thinker and not a lazy coward. And Robin could easily injure or kill almost anyone short of the Admirals and Yonko, except that she doesn't hurt people unless she has to.
Bounty ain’t a power scale but threat to gov. Usually people with higher bounties are typically stronger but it’s still only based on threat. For example usopp. He has a really high bounty for not being such a big threat but since he was deemed “God usopp” they took him as a threat.

Power escalation itself is a huge problem in many shōnen anime/manga.
Many scenes, characters and story elements become absurd retroactively and tension decreases because the enemies have to reach ridiculous levels of strength to be a threat for the heroes.

A piece of rubber engulfed in the type of electricity that Enel used on Luffy would vaporize it from the heat. Your standard bolt of lightning has heat approximately 3 times that of the surface of the Sun.
But it doesn't evaporate it, because of the short time the lighning is around because of speed and spread. So because its logia he should be hot all the time, but i didn't saw Kizaru seting things on fire whereever he is stepping on (Because all light/Laser) so there are limitations to everything

I wanted to see a fight between Enel/Eneru vs Admiral Kizaru. that's literally Lightning vs Light. electricity travels same speed as light. But I'm sure Enel/Eneru have some advantage for his god-like abilities "mantra" especially if he improves his haki over these years.

Enel has amazing levels of observation haki, plus I’m sure he could use the other forms too, and on top of that had one of the best logia’s with insane offensive power, Invulnerable to everything except rubber, could teleport and fly anywhere any time, and as fast as fucking lightning. Very underrated one piece villain when it comes to his power scaling

Enel just had no concept of the world or scale of power he lived in. He's like a seven foot tall kid playing basketball in the boonies. He could have been one of the greats but he was never around a challenge or anyone to show him what he was missing or what he was even doing right. He could have challenged admirals and yonkos if he had the knowledge and time to train Luffy has had now. It's crazy that Luffy basically defeated someone at commander level strength without realizing it.
Enki was insane. Even with the type advantage he was still a threat.
It’s a great example of how fighting works in real life too. You would think the bigger guys would always beat smaller guys or what not, but it all comes down to match ups and how you can counter the other person .

Well it does not always but in this case with Enel that is kind of true. That is why I love One Piece, it has a solid rock paper scissor logic in terms of powers and ability.
I wasn't going to comment on this but after reading some of the comments, I've realized that they forget the fact that Eneru can literally destroy islands. PTS Lucci would die before he gets close enough to even touch him. That's if he can even touch him. This guy has one of the best observation hackies out there. Do you think Lucci can overcome that? Lucci is smart he can not do anything without thinking about it first. Which means he is doomed. Enel may even be able to beat Ace. Not to mention Lucci. Unless you can survive being hit by lightning, don't try to face Eneru because you will die before you even hit him once.
I agree with everything you said until the end when you referred that oda doesn't care about power scaling. Very much as pretty intentional with power scaling and the complexities of devil fruit abilities just help complicate that. Also enel probably would not have double the bouncy on yanko crew. While his devil fruit is strong as hell. Without any armament, he's getting low diffed by anyone around the 1B mark
Note that his bounty would be around 500M with ONLY strength. We all know your bounty is reflected off your actions, not strength (look to Luffy, Law and Kid having the same bounty after wano), so I think his bounty would actually be even higher if he was on the seas for a little bit and caused some mayhem.

People forget that, Enel's motive was to reach the moon with his Ark Maxim. And when Skypiea ended, he did just that. Even when the straw hats were literally broken and Luffy "won" due to tko.
Not to mention that enel is on of the few logia characters who can travel on water like kuzan. He can become literal lightning/thunder and flee any scene. My dude is literally a god as he claims.

Honestly, in fruit stats only. The Goro Goro No Mi could probably be like top 5 best fruits. Like it’s non-awakened form can destroy a whole island. And not to mention how mouvementas it is. Like imagine you’re on Onigashma fighting someone who can use lighting. Like they can teleport wherever they want using all the thunder from the clouds. I feel like his fruit could pair up rly well with Big Mom. Cuz she can do that big sword beam and if it misses Enel can control it to hit any target. And also while using his observation haki, he can extend and bend its trajectory to reach the target.
I may be coping hard but that combo could easily solo Kaido hybrid form 😤
He couldn’t destroy an island on his own, he needed the assistance of the ark and he had to charge it up for a while. Not to mention he was destroying a cloud island, which would be way less dense than a normal island, so he’s not really an island buster

Low-key the psychic dark type fights, in Pokémon games, using stab only movesets, no psychic type attack lands, yet the dark type hits like a freight train, getting free stat boosting turns, just imagine the grief, of your fruit being weak to your enemies fruit, yet your the only one, available to run the hands with, that doesn’t end up as a jumping, you essentially have to switch to an approach of punch, kick slash, stab and do whatever it takes to survive.

The fact that enel’s power was so OP and he used it perfectly and he only losed to luffy cause he was made of rubber was actually smart it made luffy win but at the same time showed us how many strong people there are and how luffy still had a long way to go

This was done with the Arc Maxim producing charged clouds that increased Enel’s lightning power 10x over, so it’s not even like his fruit abilities scale to this.
And even assuming that Enel scales to the lower ends of island busting AP, Luffy himself scales to this (via being able to damage Enel at all, and his Gold Rifle being calced to island level AP), and he already gets power cliffed by Enis Lobby, in power and in speed.
Type advantage is huge early on but in the new world I feel like it's mostly about haki. Enel had cracked observation haki but if he had even decent armament haki he wouldn't have lost.
This really only applies to pre timeskip tbh, there's definitely a point in powerscaling after haki is introduced. I mean it took Luffy from getting one-shotted by Kaido to going blow-for-blow with him. It's to the point where anybody with decent armament mastery would put up a fight against Enel. He's not like ace, who actually is skilled without his df. He's more of a glass cannon.
I'm currently rewatching and at the point they're rescuing Robin from Enies Lobby and I completely forgot about that weird doriki powerscaling CP9 had going at the time.
He has a great combination of observation Haki and range, like he could kill people without ever seeing them, with his eyes Enel would be great at causing chaos in a massive battle like imagine during marine Ford random lighting strikes just hit marines when ever they were getting the upper hand in a fight as well as lots of other ones finishing off weaker marines he like a perfect artillery and or assassin.
I dunno i always equated the battle with Eneru to Lufy's Frieza moment
