It's sort of a dumpy neighborhood, but I used to love to go to the Wonder Bar and the Italian Kitchen when I was a kid. I does not look much different now.
There are still quite a lot of Italians in that neighborhood, but it's also fair to say that many of my Italian friends who used to live there have now moved out elsewhere. It's much more eclectic now.
I lived there for my childhood. But I had to get back to New York City because of the racism there. I know it’s changed now, but those people are still there. And their children and friends are not going to change.
I think unfortunately there's racism everywhere. I also have a sense that it *is* changing over the decades, like sexism. There were just so many things which were hard-baked into American culture like the way people would react to a mixed-race couple, that have eased immensely. Absolutely our current world has a LOT of racism in it. Still, I think it's vastly better than it was in the 1960s.
@@worcestermainfo I used to drive around there a lot. Used to be beautiful. The Worcester center used to be happening place. Then it went downhill after that

Shrewsbury Street was my neighborhood back when it was all Italian.

I sure glad I left. The last time I was stepped in that place was 2011. I will never go back again
It has good and bad like any city. I enjoy the art scene here.
