The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Who's watching this in 2024?
Nobody since we are in 2023 still
Not yet
This is more entertaining than a lot of magicians these days. We basically know how most of the tricks are done, but this is incredibly clever and he must be super-fit.
Not me I am watching from 2025
@@sourabhdhingra91 Who wins the Grand National?
Not one word spoken ! Yet funnier than any other comedian out there
Used to do a skit with a piece of imaginary chewing gum that he would try to get rid of. As you can imagine, it got stuck everywhere and to everything. Unbelievably frustrating but hilarious to watch. He was world class!! 👏👏👏👏👏😃😃😃
He does that hat flip in the beginning at 46 years old like it's nothing, incredible performer.
F A B U L O U S...🤣🤣🤣 we need more of this in our cruel World today! 1.000 Thanks...what a funny happy Video 💗👌
I agree! 👌
@@that70sgirl90 💗 oh yes, thank you dear
So interesting and funny.
This is great ❗️
📻🙂
Believe me, SOMEBODY would still get offended.
More talent than a 1000 modern celebrities combined .
So true!
The plural of celebrity is celebrities.
Oh yeah? Name them.
This is like a cross between Charlie Chaplin and Red Skelton.
GENIUS ❗️
[ and all without one single curse word 😁].
📻🙂
This dude could've really been the scarecrow in Wizard of Oz !!
That foot work,man can dance!😮
George Carl was an American, from the United States. George Carl was the best stage clown ever. So gifted with expressions, acrobatics, juggling, music and comedy. He had it all. I am seeing this clip for the first time just now. I'm happy to see this early work of George.
You're right! He was from Mineral Ridge, Ohio. He used to visit his mother there when she was still alive. I lived next door (I'm his nephew as he was my dad's brother) and he was always a lot of fun and hilarious when he would visit.
❤that's really great. ❤❤❤
SHOW DE SHOW!
Highly Entertaining.... A One Man Show!! 🙋♀️ Happy Saturday... thank you for sharing! 💖
Now that's entertainment.
A fantastic performance from this man.
Amazing
He was great. I remember seeing him on the Royal Command Performance (in the days when the Queen would request certain performers).
Freakin' excellent 😅😅
What a great clever act . Well thought out and well performed.
Wonderful talent we long for today
Fantastic!
QUELLE BELLE DECOUVERTE...MERCI..
Amazing, what an act 🇫🇷
The timing and dexterity are amazing
What a talent, if you watch al the details! So well prepared and executed.
I can't imagine how much practice this would have taken.
Waow, excellent!
Brilliant,
Both George and his girl.
As fit as any athlete to control his body like that..
Merveilleux artiste...😂
I'm glad that I clicked on this.
Very good very good 👍👍👍👍👌👌👌
unbelievable coordination !!!
😂 I remember seeing him on tv as I was a kid.
Back then we had only one channel and, as I remember, the programs were generally much better.
Me too!
I’m too shocked to laugh. Stunning physical work.
J'adore 😂
Most remarkable fact is that GC did the same act his entire life.
Presumingly there were little changes & additions,
nevertheless he basically kept holding on to the same stage-character,
doing the same tricks & showing the same jokes.
Through the years it became the famous 10-min ritual.
Like a one-man religion, which kept the founder alive.
He had a different act, with only a microphone, a piece of imaginary shewing gum and microphone cord too, that he performed later on in his carrier.
I find that one even more funny than this one shown here.
Amazing!!!
Spectacular!!
GREAAAATTTTT😂
Chaplin would be jealous. 😊👏😉
Way back when entertainment mattered
😂😂😂 wunderbar 🎉❤
LMAO Very entertaining! 👍
No cursing, no defamatory remarks, no nudity. Just pure entertainment from the innocent age.
@@jonboll-LGM You need to see him on the Tonight Show with Johnny, or any number of other clips of George Carl. Banal? Wow.
Super
Surprised l never seen him on Ed Sullivan used to watch that show a lot and my memory is as good now as it was then, Thank God Only.
Great!! So funny!!
Nu avea nevoie de cuvinte ca să vorbească şi înțelegea oricine în orice limbă ce vroia să exprime.
¡APLAUSO HISTÉRICO..! ...desde Barranquilla - Colombia
Very physical and took many many hours of practice.
An astonishing, wonderful man! Thank you for this.
Puro talento!
I laughed my ass off. He’s fantastic. I just loved his act
This is timeless brilliance. Who needs words?
Very talented! His style very much reminds me of the whimsical Ray Bolger, who of course played the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz.
Yes, well spotted my friend, also Ray Bolger was originally gonna play the Tinman 👍
Just incredible artist !!!
He must've put in an incredible amount of work to perfect that act.
C’est magnifique!
This is when America was great.
That guy is no talentless street mime, I can tell you that much.
Can you tell me anything else?
What was one of the great things about Ed Sullivan is he gave everybody a shot. The golden age of variety shows. Todays TV is crap.
I would like to see his version of the moonwalk.
Increiblemente fabuloso.👍👍👍😂😂😂
W😮W!
Er ist Klasse!!!😊
He is definitely good, I was waiting for him to bust into the Moon Walk. 12/15/23
Hold up.. this was by far fun, family TV show. Nothing negative, pure, funny, and family sat and watched together. Wow them days are gone..
He had a heck of an athlete (basketball player) earlier. You can see it in his body control.
Then he became an outstanding nba coach late in life after giving up his performing career.
Neat guy.
Me parece genial, y no lo había visto nunca
wielki talent
Entertainment geniuses
..wow..
Formidable merci😅
Muito bom!!
Genial !
Genio!!!
Superbe
Show maravilhoso, esplêndido.
Fantástico!!!!
Que legal 👏👏🤙
Genial!!😊
!Sensacional!
Brilliant and thank you for posting this.
but
all those decades of George living in Paris and working at the Crazy Horse Saloon didn't change the fact that he was an American clown ... a master.
1962.... I remember it well. I was a HS freshman. this was korny even then lol
Formidable
Moi❤❤❤❤❤
Alongside Freddie 'Parrot-face' Davies, he was wonderful in Funny Bones, making his screen acting debut at the age of 79.
Funny! Thanks
sullivan was pretty much the last vestiges of the vaudville era
The dance when he first saw the girl was hilarious
ah, a lost art... bring back Ed and physical comedy!!!
Un Émule des grands maîtres du burlesques
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
😊👍
Müthiş gösteri.
This was most likely a vaudeville act in earlier days.
The grandfather of Shuffling
Go back and watch W.C. Fields do his vaudeville act.
Shout out to the drummer
🥇👌😂👍
All this from a guy obviously not 21, fantastic 😂.
Sounds like worzel gummidge theme at the end
