I had one new, the week it came out! Kids today will never the joy of owning one. 30 times better then a cell phone for sure. Remember almost all music was on AM radio.

I remember getting my first FM radio. Nothing but music and very little commercials.

Yes. Back where I was from ( St.Louis) we had a fantastic AM station that played the best music,..... Until FM came of age in the mid 1970’s. All of us kids had a pocket radio of some sort.
Thanks for watching, and your comment.

They are very collectible as is the Panasonic R-70 “Panapet”. I got a Panapet as a kid and have since purchased another and hope to purchase a couple more in the various colors. A pristine unused one with original box can cost over$100.00 on EBay. The 70’s Panasonic transistor radios were stylistically fun and great little radios. I still DX on medium wave with mine.

Nice radio! I like it but I think it should have been called the Tune A Loop. I have a Panasonic Panapet radio that was my dads radio that I think is very cool looking too. Thanks to Jeff and Tom for showing off this radio. 👍❤️📻

Thanks. I think it’s cool that you have an actual radio from your Dad.

Panasonic also made a ball-shaped radio called the Panapet. Same era -- early 1970's.

I had a yellow panapet! It was like a kidney to me...everywhere I went, it went! I've been looking online to find one...🤓

I had one when I was young. I would love to get one to show my kids! I can't afford one now! As a kid, I would wear it around my wrist, like a bracelet!

Coolest thing I ever had as a kid! So many great AM stations back in those days. WABC ''77" in New York with the legendary Dan Ingram .... Philly's powerhouse "Famous 56" WFIL.... and our local rivals, WAEB in Allentown and our hometown choice, "The Big X" WEEX 1230 AM in Easton PA. FM Top 40 stations were rare in the early 70s. Most FM stations in those days were classical or "AOR" - album-oriented rock - formats.

What a cute radio. Two available on ETSY @ £134 each and in comparatively poor cosmetic condition. Your friend seems to have bagged a bargain at $49. Cheers 👍🏼

I’m hoping to repair mine and need guidance. The part that holds both sides together when you twist it open has broken, any suggestions on how to fix it? Or would you know what that part would be called? It’s a plastic internal piece, I’d call it a joint… thanks!

I remember these I am pretty sure they had an AM FM version of these as well? The marketing showed a modern gal wearing this on her wrist like pop art jewelry

Don’t know about an AM/FM version, but yes, it was advertised as a radio you can wear on your wrist. And many, especially the girls, did.
