  • Finishing our loop drive from Bled, Slovenia, we head out from Kobarid. We saved the best part of the loop for last - a car train in Slovenia!!
MISS PART 1 OF THE BLED LOOP DRIVE? • Ski Jumping in Septemb...
Kobarid proved a restful stop on this circle drive from Bled (which can be done in a long day, provided you don't stop for HOUR to film skiers in Planica!). Kobarid is located in the Soca river valley, and is where some very fierce deadly fighting took place during WWI. A unique and beautiful memorial to Italian fighters is located there - the Italian Charnel House (Italijanska kostnica nad Kobaridom in Slovene). We pay our respects here before continuing on.
Our next stop is Most na Soci (Most na Soči), where we stop not for the town, but to travel by a car train! Yes, a train that transports cars - basically a car ferry but it's by train. You stay in your car and it's an amazing experience to be in the comfort of your car and traveling through the picturesque Slovene countryside. Not only is the an experience to remember, but it doesn't even cost very much and saves an hour and a half! You pop out on the other side in Bohinjska Bistrica.
    *Filmed in September, 2021.

That's such a unique idea!! It makes you wonder why more places don't do that! It looks like such a comfortable way of getting around, and so much more scenic!

Thank you so much! The excitement in these past two videos was completely genuine. They were really two great days!!

Interesting approach! The car train I've been on doesn't let you drive on to the rolling stock, and you don't sit in the car. The cars have to be driven on to the front/back of the carrier, which is double decker and covered. The only way a car is getting on or off is with the specialized ramp at the two stations (last ones on the continent if I recall correctly). I like the design shown in this video more for short distances and the one I've been on for longer distances, especially if sleep is to be attempted (I tried, but barely got any sleep). Great video!

This was honestly such a great solution for a short distance - easy on, easy off. Plus having your car move that fast without the car even being on is pretty wild! Thank you for watching! 😁😁

Another nice one from you two. That food looked really good! Bill's comments at the memorial brought the proper gravity to the scene. I wish I had a car train to take me to and from St. Paul!

Thank you very much! A local car train would be awesome, lol!! And the food was indeed quite good. 😉

Do you know , that Hamingway was close to Kobarid during Ww1..and his novel A Farewell to Arms was about war in this region. Also Erwin Rommel was there during ww1.

We did know that about Hemingway but learned about Rommel from comments! We've been reading about him - super interesting!
