But my mom doesn't want pets because she is scared of a lot of them (she is terrified of cats for example) and doesn't want dogs for example because of all the time they need to be taken care of and because it is so difficult to find a solution for them when you travel. On the other had she is a beloved town GP and has the biggest heart of anyone I know! In short: I don't care for generalizations... Humans are complex human beings that are definitely not all good or bad and we should restrain as much as we can from judging each other and putting each other in boxes (except of course for exceptions such as Hitler, etc.)

In their senegalese-muslim culture, dogs are seen as "not pure" and therefore stray dogs are pretty much avoided and left to their own devices. I've noticed the same thing in Tunisia. Does that mean that a majority of those countries' inhabitant are heartless? My grandmother also dislikes animals: she doesn't hate them (she plays with our dog when she visits and takes care of her when we go on holiday) but she also doesn't have any and to be honest I don't think that she'd try and help a stray animal... If she saw a wounded one she would MAYBE call the local vet or animal protection but honestly I'm not sure... And I can assure you that she is an extremely generous and loving human being. She was a social worker for 40 years, was an amazing wife and is a great mother of four and grand-mother of 10! I think that you can dislike animals and still be a beautiful, loving soul. Generalizing "oh, people who have this particular characteristic are all like this" is truly a dangerous and hurtful line of thought...

I was thinking the same thing since I am gluten intollerant. Becky is lucky because there are so many delicious gluten free foods out there now. Pain Quotidien for one has a lot of great options. When Mike went mental over the pigs in the blanket I laughed so hard. He is hilarious!
The trick with candles, you must burn them until the wax has melted evenly across. If you don't, fail! The multi wick candles require a lot of care. The wicks need to be trimmed at the same height, and you must light them quickly so they burn at the same rate. If one is placed in the wax incorrectly, fail! So, if you only want to burn a candle for an hour, use the votives.
