@hehehehaworgrrr1513 as a massive OSU fan it's always "almost". Almost beat Georgia, yay. Almost beat Michigan last 2 years, yay. Almost beat Oregon. Whoopity fuckin do. Hes had one good win as an OSU Coach and that was the revenge game against Clemson. Since losing to Bama and losing Justin Fields he has been a shell of himself in meaningful games. PSU is not a big deal. OSU is favored every year in that game and Day is just the Michael Jordan of James Franklin's.
Problem with Ohio State going into this game against Tennessee is Michigan isn't just living rent free in their head currently, it's that Michigan is living in their head and charging them rent.
The problem for Ohio State going into this game is that all the pressure is on them. Tennessee has already exceeded expectations with a first year QB and most rational fans at the start of the season felt next year would be our year not this one, so win or lose Vols are happy. But for OSU the vultures are circling in the air and everyone inside and outside the program are at each others throats as what feels like a manic frenzy is building for them. As soon as something in the game starts to go south the fans are ready to boo immediately like the Michigan game and the coaches are ready to panic.
All that I can say as a MI fan: is that ain't nobody around here calling for Sherrone Moore's head after losing 5 games this season. Ain't nobody mentioning how bad Mi did this season. We beat Ohio State: end of story and bliss is in the air!
Are you kidding me?? Where do you live. We talk about how many games they should have won if they had better coaching. You have already lost the Bama game.
Your fan base also condoned cheating to get your first win streak in the 2000s. The biggest-looking hypocrites in CFB. Enjoy the pop tart bowl or whatever you made.
Moore sucks I’m calling for his head he doesn’t deserve or have the brain power to be a Head Coach. He’s been living off Harbaughs coached up players and the easy schedule next year might keep this clown around another year. No big ten championship or natty with Moore. 💯 still might beat Ohio again next year at least for first game.
Once again Josh nails it on the head Gus Malzahn stayed at Auburn way longer than he should’ve but why is that because he beat Alabama every time his job was in jeopardy 😭
I can confirm as a Columbus native and lifelong Buckeye Nation member… beating ttun is priority #1 here, even above winning a national championship… its sick i know but thats the way we are
Ive seen the ttun acronym posted a few times here by OSU fans and I assume it means Michigan. I also know you call them scUM. But what exactly does ttun mean/spell out?
Michigan has gotten inside Day's head. Day loses playing too conservative. So then Day overcompensates, and loses playing too aggressive. Then Day switches and loses trying to play too physical.
Michigan and Oregon were the only teams OSU played that had any speed on the defensive line. That’s the difference no one is talking about. I don’t think it’s a psychological issue. OSU just isn’t used to playing against athletic defenses.
@@Adam-us5dvpenn state has a way better defense than Michigan. In both losses they had horrible games where everything went wrong and still only lost by 4 total. In order to beat Ohio State they really have to beat themselves. The Oregon game could have easily been Ohio State by 14.
He's already had a job everywhere !! this was his big chance to prove himself ..he should have started in the MAC and see if he had what it takes to be a winner in the games that mean something....I used to think, there was no way we could have another John Cooper as a head coach, but here we are and it is so depressing .
@joshPate thank you for showing a clip of fellow Akronite, Juck on Bucks! He has a really good show and his take about not minimizing college football rivalries and traditions was spot on.
When it comes to the thought exercise of choosing between a national title or beating your rival, I think it really depends on how big your program is. Of course Ohio State fans will say that it’s more important to beat your rival because they know that 8 out of the next 10 years they will likely be in the national title conversation. I’m an Ole Miss fan and these past few years is the first time we’ve sorta been in that conversation since the 60’s. Ole Miss gets the chance to beat their rival every year while we hardly ever get the chance to try and win the national championship.
You clearly have no idea what's going on in the woody right now. Ohio state is much more likely to blow Tennessee out than they are to lose close. Things could get ugly. Stick around for Sunday and tell me how broken this team looks to you
The problem for Ohio State going into this game is that all the pressure is on them. Tennessee has already exceeded expectations with a first year QB and most rational fans at the start of the season felt next year would be our year not this one, so win or lose Vols are happy. You got that right! The Vols hang tight those first few drives and take a lead, every buckeye player, coach, and fan will be seeing winged helmets in their peripheral vision 🤣
The loss sucks but what makes it sting way more than the other losses is the way the game was coached.. it wasn't like a bad play call here or there it was the entire game plan and the refusal to make even 1 adjustment. We (osu) just was on a 20 yr run for the ages in that game so it was bound to switch up, but the way that game was coached was inexcusable, especially after already losing 3 in a row. Day has to at least get to the national championship game if not win it all to even sniff acceptance from this fan base
I'd even go as far to say that it's more like a parlay than just being forgiven/accepted if he manages to win the game, the parlay would be he would have to do that and beat TTUN next year before we fully turn back in good standings with him.
Why did Chip Kelly continue to run into the teeth of their defense when it was clearly not working was the thing I could not understand. Michigan was gifted 10 points plus the two missed FG, and the offense could still not get the ball into the end zone more than once. I blame Kelly mostly, but Day for allowing it to continue the entire game. At this point I doubt Ryan Day will ever get the full support of the fan base unless he wins national titles and that still may not be enough. Losing 4 straight to his rival is not good enough
@W.A.1818 I agree, don't see it happening either, just saying that's what it would take for us to begin to forgive him. I'd much rather find someone from Ohio/OSU that gets the program and it's rivalry.
Ever since he started coaching at Ohio State, Day has said over and over again that his team's goals are, beating Michigan, winning the Big Ten, winning the Natty, in that order. The Natty would be a consolation prize to both Ohio State and Michigan fans.
What Josh is missing, and why Ryan Day should be fired if Ohio State doesn't WIN IT ALL this year....is that MOST good coaches could have a high win percentage coaching all the talent that Ohio State has year in and year out. Most coaches could take the teams and beat up on the regular season opponents. Ryan Day not only can't beat Michigan, but he can't beat the better teams PERIOD! So either he opens up that playbook and GOES FOR IT, or he plays his conservative approach against very good teams and watches them beat his team because they are going for it! If Ryan Day is a coach that deserves to stay at Ohio State, then beating four tough opponents on the way to a championship, is the way to show it. Buckeyes will likely have to beat Tennessee, then undefeated Oregon, then likely Texas and then Goergia in the title game. If he can do that then he will show that he can coach ALL that talent he has into beating the better teams in college football. Anything less than a National Title....he should be shown the door. Most coaches could get this team to 10-2.
I understand what OSU fans are thinking, but I also caution: 10-win coaches don't grow on trees. After Tennessee ran Phillip Fulmer out of town, Knoxville endured the worst decade in its history. Even if it was the right call, it was a difficult road to travel. Good luck to both teams!
The thing is we are the dumbest fanbase in America . Me being born in Columbus and raised and an Ohio State Alum. “The Game “ was “The Game “ because it prevented you from a rose bowl, big ten title and a national championship. That’s not the case anymore ! These fans don’t get that, just because you’re a big brand does NOT guarantee you success ask Nebraska & USC that . We are in the mist of NIL and transfer portal. Unlike the old days you don’t need Ohio State to be successful .
You have 10 wins built in every year, so the record isn't as impressive as it seems. Every loss Ohio State had was to either a top-5 team and/or Michigan. Most of the losses were against Michigan. That can't happen for starters. Secondly, it proves that Ryan Day can't win on the big stage either. Thirdly, his style and his philosophy doesn't work when it comes to winning championships, because he puts ZERO focus on building a team from the inside out. For example, the #1 guy who should have been the first guy terminated last year was Offensive Line Coach Justin Frye. The $20 million NIL, the the massive haul in the portal is all for nothing if you don't get rid of the one guy whose unit can hold you back. That is the offensive line. Did it matter that we had the 2 best RBs in the country? NO! Did it matter we had the best WRs in the country? No. Well, that brings me to me next point which is coaching, because he refused to use his weapons to his advantage. So he's also guilty of coaching malpractice. So the bottom line is, no! He's not worthy of the job if he craps the bed on Saturday. As far as I'm concerned the next 4 games are like "Squid Games." He has to win the massive prize to stay alive. Sorry, but he's had the best roster in the country, and 2 out of the 3 goals have come and gone. If he loses he needs to go, period!
Yea people said that about John Cooper too when he got fired for not beating Michigan. Then Ohio State replaced him with some no name from Youngstown state and…. How did that go again?
I promise you, we are not minimizing this game in Columbus. Haven’t met a single person saying that. Everyone in Cbus is pissed and tired of TTUN winning and are desperate for a change!
If we lose to TN I hope they fire Ryan Day. And if that happens, it won't be JUST because TTUN. He would not just be 1-4 against them but also 0-4 against the SEC. He's also 0-2 against Oregon and 2-4 on bowl games. So who cares how many wins he has against Purdue, Indiana, MSU, and Northwestern? It's nice but it's not enough. That being said, I think we are beating TN on Saturday.
@@ChrisMo16 Georgia has played Georgia Tech 118 times, Georgia has played Auburn 129 times since 1892, what makes you think you have cornered the market on rivalry games? You don't think it's just as important to fans of these teams as Michigan/Ohio State????? Get off your high horse!
Josh, as an tOSU alumni, I HATE TTUN but I 100% LOVE A NATTY MORE! My Buckeye room doesn't have memorabilia of TTUN wins it has 2002 and 2014 Natty merch all over it. Same for my t-shirts and hat collection. Natty or bust! O-H
This Tennessee game means more then what people think, that Oregon Round 2 Game is Overshadowing just how important a round 1 win would be to this Program.
A national title without a UM win is pointless and no one will care. Could you imagine putting a national champ sticker on your car knowing you lost to a 6-5 UM? It's absurd and you would deserved to be keyed.
I have now lived in Ohio for 45 years. I installed the tile in the subway restaurant on high st. Next to the double decker McDonald's while students were on winter break. Ryan Day doesn't understand the rivalry, because he is from New Hampshire. Ryan Day voted for Harris, waltz. It is time for Mr Not From Ohio to leave. He has out stayed his welcome
Not much. Their fans will brag about how they lost a close game, like when they lost to Georgia. And media people will rank them pre season #1 or #2, regardless of the fact that they never win meaningful games
I'd rather have a 50-50 coach with a perfect win record against _ichigan than a 90-10 coach with multiple natties. It feels ridiculous to say you'd fire a Coach who's 66-10 But 4 of those Ls were to the archrival...
I’ve seen this said many times by many Ohio state fans but I would love to see how quickly a .500 coach would get run out of town by the same fans that are currently saying they’d be fine with a .500 coach
@@christopherjoniak9120not fine with a 50/50 but I'd gladly accept a freak loss or two to Purdue or Northwestern every year if it means we win THE game.
It is an new era of college football. I believe we have to take a next gen approach. Hire a GM who can recruit and manage talent great. Hire a coach who is excellent at teaching toughness and situational football.
Shouldnt be hard to find someone to out coach sherone moore especially when you’re fielding the more talented team.. like nobodys askin day to be a fuckin rocket scientist just simply beat a 6-5 ttun team like what the hell? When you fail at something that SHOULD be a automatic you get criticized. Ppl caping for a grown man not meeting objectives either are happy with the results or just delusional. We arent up in arms for no reason guy. 5 years 4 losses those are not good results
I saw several OSU fans talking about the future of Head Coach Ryan Day directly after the loss to Michigan. For clarification, I am a life long Notre Dame fan. I don't hate OSU, and I cheer for them against Michigan... because I LOATHE Michigan. Ok, that being said, I got into a couple of the conversations with Buckeye fans who were, understandably, freaking the F out immediately after that game. I simply made the point that there were maybe, MAYBE 5 teams in the entire Country that had a similar level of talent as OSU. It's a Rivalry Game. Weird things happen in Rivalry Games, and they should know that because the Buckeyes have ruined the Wolverines Season more than a few times when THEY (OSU) were in Michigan's position. It just happens in those games. What do we always hear? "Throw out the Records, because in these games, Rivalry Games, records do not matter." Anyway, eventually the discussion amongst OSU fans turned to Ryan Day... And it was NOT pretty. I mean, 98% of College Football fans would take the record the Buckeys have had since Day took over and they wouldn't look back! Ohio State is a juggernaut. Have been for the better part of TWO DECADES. However, that doesn't matter to a fan base that just lost to their most hated Rival, in what could possibly be THE RIVALRY in all of College Football, for the 4th time in a row. I didn't even try to convince them to remain calm, give it a few days, and try to remember that it is Ohio State and NOT Michigan who will be taking part in the Historic, First Ever 12-Team College Football Playoff. Didn't matter. They wanted him GONE! YESTERDAY! Now, I admit, I got a little worried when one of the names that popped up was none other than Notre Dame's beloved Head Coach (and Ohio State Alum and former Linebacker!), Marcus Freeman. My fear has been alleviated a bit after ND signed Freeman to a 4 year extension on top of the 2 years he has left, but for about 2 weeks... I was worried. And then I thought about it... Who would replace Day? If a Coach who had a record of 66-10 and multiple trips to the Playoffs isn't good enough, then who is? I know... believe me I know. I know about the record against Top 5 teams. (3-6 by the way) So? He and his staff still recruit Top 3 or 4 Classes EVERY YEAR. And once in a while, they get the Number 1 Class in the Country. They have the Talent. Day is a good coach. And soon, he may even be great... But that is where I realized that I was missing the point. See, there are only 4 or 5 Schools who are playing at OSU's level. And that is EVER YEAR. Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Oregon (recently), sometimes LSU (hahaha! Brian Kelly!), sometimes one of the 3 Florida teams will pop up for a decent run. But that's the point... For Ohio State and their fans, the ONLY THINGS that matter are Winning the National Championship... And -beating- DESTROYING Michigan. I get that now. Sorry this is so long. I hope someday Notre Dame can win a National Championship again. Until then I will continue to cheer for the Big 10 (other than Michigan) to win. Good Luck, Buckeyes fans, in the Playoffs! It would be cool to see Notre Dame and Ohio State in the Championship Game.
Why do you loathe Michigan so much? Growing up as an Irish Catholic kid in Michigan I always loved ND and Michigan. We have the two best fight songs of all time. I went to a game in ND to watch my daughter play in the Michigan Marching Band and the fans were very nice to me. An alumni usher invited me down to the field before kickoff to say hi to my kid which was very classy. I love that they announced the mass schedule during the game, never expected that 😂.
Agree that rivalry games are of the highest importance. As an LSU grad, I loved our 2019 season. I said it at the time, beating Alabama late in the season was our super bowl. Winning the conference and national championship were nice. But beating Alabama was the prize of that year for me.
I'm sorry i just dont think even with a loss he will get fired this season. Of course i could be wrong, but i just think it would be the ultimate overreaction by a program that has been beyond spoiled for way way way too long
They just lost to a 6-5 team with less talent at home… nobodys feeling good about them against an even better team in COLDER weather.. They’re liable to get boo’d at home if they dont find a way to show up tho… Best Fanbase in the Land if nobody holds them accountable WE WILL
Indifference is probably the best way to describe the fan base right now. I understand 3-O line starters are gone, but the lack of accountability to have replacements ready is clearly showing. An off season change at that coaching position plus an emphasis on adding linemen next year is the minimum required or next year will probably have his last. You can not keep losing to that team and keep your job at Ohio State.
@@ZachgotgainzAny natty with an asterisk loss to TTUN is hollow. I dare say it should be in his next contract that he forfeits playoffs if he loses THE Game.
@ lmao Ik it’s been 4yrs in a row but a natty will be historic 2 yrs from now to a high school recruit not a win vs Michigan. So as a fan yes I get it but a natty way more important to Ohio st program definitely with the NIL and portal chaos
@@Zachgotgainz I don't care about players, I don't care about the coaches, and I don't care about any of their families either, I don't care about NIL, I only care in the end that we beat Michigan. I don't care if OSU ever even gets to the playoffs. Just beat Michigan. They can go 7-5 as long as they beat Michigan.
In order to really de-value the rivalry, Ryan Day has to win at least one big ten and national title without beating Michigan. But there’s generally a direct correlation between winning that game and winning other big games, such as a national title game. Considering Nick Saban beat Auburn every year he won a national title at Alabama except for one, I’m guessing Ryan Day doesn’t do it one time. Ohio State knows the importance of the Michigan game, they are just trying to cope with the fact they can’t beat Michigan at the moment.
@@kevinb285 they can if they get rid of that trash coach.. the last 25 years we’ve lost to them maybe 6 times with 4 of those losses coming in the last 4 years thats not a coincidence😒
As an OSU HARD CORE FAN..... Day is long gone because we real fans know with that talent you gotta play balls to the wall and Day has surely not ever found his "BIG GAME" balls yet!!!!!!! Time is up next man up
This is what will happen, they will rename Neyland North to The House of Sampson, Ryan Day fired and stadium used for a Tennessee fan camp ground for when we play up north!
This is something that college football plebs don’t understand… John Middlekauff, former scout for the Eagles. Also NOT a fan of Ohio State says, “Ohio State is the best job in college football because you get SEC Players and you play in the mediocre B1G. An imbecile can go 10-2 at Ohio State. Pate knows this, he just doesn’t want to hurt Ryan Day’s feelings cause he’s a sensitive guy. 😂
Thank you. Great perspective. Folks that say that Day should be retained based on overall record are basically saying they are willing to trade wins over Purdue and Rutgers over wins against Michigan.
As an ohio-born buckeye who has had to live the last 11 years in Michigan, few understand the level of ridicule the last four losses have brought to me in my personal circles. That being said, I’ll tell you the take no one is willing to give. I believe that these issues are actually caused BY BUCKEYE NATION! I have never witnessed my fan base become so critical and demanding, and I grew up in the ‘90s and remember the Cooper days well. To me, I see the way our coaches coach and our players play in the game vs *ichigan and it has the same vibe as the high school player who is just trying to make Dad proud rather than trying to play their best. To hear Ross and Ryan Day talk about a different mental approach and referencing the army navy game sounds like the PERFECT approach and in no way feels like a devaluing of The Game. Even Urban talked about approaching this game with “total respect” and that you show that respect with the amount of preparation you have for that game. Last comment too… if you fire Ryan Day, that would be more like FSU firing Jimbo than anything else and we see what that got FSU. Firing Day at this point won’t solve our fan base issue…
I think one big problem for rivalries is the new playoff. Before the 4-12 team playoff you couldn’t really compete for a national title without beating your rival.
@@xdgaming70 Well when those 10 games are 4 losses to Michigan, 2 losses to Oregon, 1 to Clemson, 1 to Alabama, 1 to Georgia, and 1 to Missouri then yes he needs fired because it just shows he's so incompetent of a head coach he can't beat teams with equal talent level or even some of those teams don't have the talent level of Ohio State but yet have better coaches than Ryan Day. So the short answer is yes Ryan Day most definitely needs fired after 10 losses.
It was 1990 in coopers 3rd year, when OSU lost back to back at home. Ryan Day is gonna call the offense from 3rd base to make sure this does not happen again
You referenced the rhetorical about Lincoln Riley: "How much more patience do we need to have?" and that's where I'm at on Day. Maybe you don't think we're off the cliff yet, Josh, and that's fair. But if you don't think we're rocketing towards the edge, then I have to ask what you've seen from Day that you haven't seen from Riley.
I can't speak for everyone here, but for me and anyone I know personally, the rage meter has been at 100 since the second in a row and I thought we'd never even accept more than 3 in a row. I think you're correct that OSU has consistently underperformed against TCUN, but I don't agree that it's only against them. Sure, the record against bad teams has been solid, but if you watch all the games like we have, you'll notice the team almost never performs as dominantly as it should based on the talent disparity. I think it's a more general coaching issue with day. He recruits well, but consistently does not get the best out of his teams. I just flat think he's not a good coach. For comparisons sake, if Day was coach of Indiana this year, I don't think they come even close to what they did this year.
@@joejoe04 truth be told he actually only recruits well at the WR position, everthing else is neglected. He hasn't recruited a star d lineman or any position on defense really. Urban always recruited well on both sides of the ball specifically skill positions and d line, we have completely gone away from that to just focusing on WR. He hasn't even really recruited well at QB either as if WR are supposed to throw themselves the ball somehow. Stroud and Fields were brought in by Urban. Day in 5 years has proven he is just a WR positions coach not a HEAD coach
@@joejoe04 yea only time will tell but im not holding my breath.. even with his mediocre recruiting outside of WR we still have enough talent. Ohio State as a brand will always draw the talent and they reside in one of the top football recruiting states in terms of talent. We have a coaching issue not a talent issue. Im convinced he doesnt have the wherewithal to drive and motivate the talent
Nebraska/Iowa is becoming the same way. Nebraska fans HATE losing to Iowa. I get how both sides of this Michigan/OSU thing feel. Rivalries make the season worth it more than anything else.
As a Texas fan, I have a similar take. Yes, I want to see my team competing for championships both conference and national every year but I recognize a lot of things have to happen for that to happen including things out of our control. So if championships aren’t in the cards in a given year, we have to at least win 10 or more games and beat our rivals (Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Arkansas) to consider it a successful season that we can build on for the future. Going 3-0 this year against these teams especially all away from DKR was especially sweet.
On a similar note, Clemson winning the natty would be nowhere near enough to erase the SCAR of losing to South Carolina. They can try to downplay it and gloat about who made the playoff but that’s not what college football was built on. Rivalries are.
The O-Line patchwork is a problem. Couldn’t run the ball since psu game. Allowing too much penetration etc. Going against the best D-Line in Tennessee. I’m VERY concerned to say the least.
Something needs to be said, about MATH. What are the odds of winning a national championship, year in and year out? Maybe 1/20, 1/30? What are the odds of winning the B1G year in and year out? Maybe 1/5? What about your rivalry game? Should be about 1/2. So, YES, we expect a rivalry win more than we expect a national championship or a big ten championship, because that is REASONABLE of us!!!
Rivalries have diminished greatly with players skipping from team to team every season. Half your team didn’t experience last year’s loss. They didn’t live with it for 12 months. College football as we knew it is dead. Now we must learn to enjoy this new game or move on.
Rivalry games are what makes CFB, CFB. The Iron Bowl is more impactful for its fans than any other as most of us live in the same state. However, the teams play for a Chip... The only time the rivalry games mean more are when your team doesn't have a chance at the Chip. I was _SO_ happy BAMA lost to AU in '17! BAMA didn't have to play in the CCG and instead had another week to get healthy in case it made it into the CFP4... fortunately it did, won the Chip, and gave CFB the greatest ending to a game we have seen.
One thing I don’t like about the 12 team playoff is that rivalry results don’t matter as much. Yes, Ryan Day’s job is on the line but if it was a 4 team playoff he would’ve already been fired because OSU would have lost to Michigan and then never made the CFP. A fun (but admittedly chaotic) way to fix this is to have a rivalry clause in the playoff. The clause would say that if a team selected for the playoff had lost to their rivalry week opponent then should that team go on to win the playoff, they actually have to play another game. That game would be a rematch against their rival and the winner would be declared the national champion. Yes this would be unfair and chaotic but think of the crazy storylines you could get from an osu vs Michigan rematch where now both teams have a shot at claiming a natty even though Michigan is 7-5. I admit this is ridiculous and unfair but it would be really fun.
I would absolutely take a national title over beating Michigan. But, because losing to Michigan often means missing out on the Big Ten Championship game, that makes winning the title the only goal left. That's a tough goal to reach every year.
Josh, I'm a traditionalist like yourself. I'm a buckeye fan that lives deep in Michigan territory. All my friends are michigan fans. This game was everything to me. I host a huge game day party at my house every year. I'll always want to win this game, but I'm going to have to disagree. It might not be this year or next but in 3-5 years this will be a nice to win game. I was crushed losing to UM this year but they're sitting at home while ohio state is about to host a SEC school I'm the shoe. Again, I didn't want it this way but for you to say we should treat everything the same, look around man. It used to mean a lot to go 10-2 and play in a nice bowl game. Now kids opt out. The game has changed. The sport has changed. It sucks but it is what it is.
Ummm Michigan is not sitting at home and they are also playing an SEC powerhouse as good as Tennessee. A little school called Alabama and that game may get more viewers than some of the playoff games.
At an ABSOLUTE ceiling, i can't see Day surviving two more years of this. If he can't beat Michigan again next year, and makes it into the playoffs again, but still can't cinch the deal, OSU might not want to bite the bullet to get the buyout. If the next time Michigan is in the shoe, and Day loses it again, he likely WILL be run out of the town, even if the players are all in behind him. That's after the Michigan players are likely run out by the attendees.
The good news Ohio State fans is that if Ryan Day is fired you can all apply for the job and do way better than he has. So lots of positives can come out of this situation.
If they lose, Ohio State fans will cry and probably accuse Tennessee of cheating and get some rule changed - all joking aside, this is a big game for sure, bowing out in the first round AT HOME with their roster would be completely unacceptable.
Good try, but nah. We aren't going to be torn up over this game. We are still angry about ttun. Y'all don't understand us at all. Remember what y'all thought after the loss to Missouri? Ohio State list, and didn't even break stride. Is Missouri a powerhouse now because of the win?
@@Al-Rudigor apples and oranges. That Missouri game was pretty meaningless, or at least seemed to be viewed that way by the fan base, due to opt-outs/transfers and not being able to advance in a playoff if they won. This game is a playoff game and players will be playing if able. They have a top-tier roster that competes on paper with every CFB team in the country. Not all of those fans will be as forgiving this year if they lose to Tennessee.
@@greggerg9324 it can be a final nail, sure. However, we won't be talking or thinking about Tennessee again, win or lose. I'm telling you, we are talking about ttun. We just don't care about Tennessee. Of course we'll be happy to win, but losing would be like adding 1 lb to a 10,000lb load.
OSU has a lot of Fair Weather Fans they should all move to michigan, Get real, all of you. Day is a very high standing coach, playing for a championship, you freaks. Rip em a new ass Coach Day.,,,, "the players that failed us a lot of times this year" and dump these shallow minded fans. M is still the biggest joke in town, and we are at 6 moving on up. Go Bucks, screw the sour grapes, doubting Thomases.
The problem is Michigan plays to their strength. Running the ball, controlling the game and a strong DLine run front. Since Harbaugh said you have to be tough Day has taken that seriously and has tried to make his team what they’re not. And that’s trying to run the ball, control the game and so on. The issue is Ohio State is not a control the game, run the ball and what not. Ohio State is a finesse, speed, spread the field out team and get players in space. That’s the biggest issue
Ohio States problem has been that they played in a down Big Ten for almost 20 years. When Michigan was down, it really hurt the big ten. Penn State has been a 8-10 win team for most of that period. Everyone else save a 1 or 2 year exception (MSU) has been god awful this century. Now all the sudden they have real competition in a good Michigan program and Oregon. They cant get fat on cupcakes anymore in conference
One aspect of rising the stakes like they did in Columbus, was raising the expectations exponentially...bringing in that roster + Chip = wins over Michigan + a Natty.....one of those already hasn't happened. Expectations are being recalibrated in real-time which is never good for a head coach.
I'm a fan of Ohio State and a fan of Ryan Day. I'm not a fan of calls to get rid of any coach or QB who is involved in a loss. I think Ohio State would be undefeated right now if Kyle McCord wouldn't have been driven out of Columbus. That said, this first round is a must win for Ryan Day.
The problems with ohio when it comes to Michigan the last 4 years is that other than MAYBE 2023, they felt winning was a forgone conclusion. Only question was by how much. They work the week of the game to beat them, while UM (since 2021) works the entire year to beat ohio
Losing to Michigan with this talent level is very embarrassing. At this point I don’t think there is anything Ryan Day can do. His days should be numbered and if Tennessee does win, it will only increase the desire for the fan base to replace him. He is John Cooper 2.0.
Josh Heupel does more with less and Ryan Day does less with more. Ohio state is more talented and Tennessee is better coached. Gonna be a hell of a game, and I’ll be in attendance. Can’t imagine how hostile it’ll be there if OSU loses.
Buckeye fans need to recognize that there's a lot more room for the program to go down than up. If you have a straight flush, are you really gonna give that up on the chance you might draw to a royal flush?
Not an Ohio fan at all, but he is taking them far and making them competitive year after year. Who are you going to replace him with and think you're going to do better?
Ohio State could very well lose to Tennessee because you don't know the players mindset after the last game debacle. The play calling in the rivalry game was the worst I have ever seen in college football. I have no idea why you would play to the opponents strength and your known weakness (watching that game was like being in the Twilight Zone). But sadly the fact remains that if they fire Day who would replace him. Day is a solid recruiter, you would also lose one of the best recruiters in football in Hartline and a defensive coach guru in Knowles. 9 and 3 seasons with a lots of wins against UM will not make many OSU fans happy either.
You struck on the question that I go 'round and 'round with: You might find a great coach, but can he build a championship roster? Even if that coach built a roster 5 years ago, it doesn't mean he can do it today.
As a fan of another blue blood I understand the expectations but I think it’s insane they value a rival win over a national championship. I also understand their want to fire Day and don’t think that’s to far off but not strictly on that game
In my admittedly emotional estimation, I might bump some of those percentages up a bit. Tennessee: 100% Oregon: 80% Texas: 60% Georgia: 25% Win Natty: 0% Of course, this is what I want, not what I think will happen. I don't know this new AD at all, so I don't know if he's willing to make waves this early in his tenure, or if he's capable of finding a winning football coach.

Problem with Ohio State going into this game against Tennessee is Michigan isn't just living rent free in their head currently, it's that Michigan is living in their head and charging them rent.
Which toilet bowl is Michigan playing in again?
The problem for Ohio State going into this game is that all the pressure is on them. Tennessee has already exceeded expectations with a first year QB and most rational fans at the start of the season felt next year would be our year not this one, so win or lose Vols are happy. But for OSU the vultures are circling in the air and everyone inside and outside the program are at each others throats as what feels like a manic frenzy is building for them. Michigan has gotten inside Day's head. Day loses playing too conservative. So then Day overcompensates, and loses playing too aggressive. Then Day switches and loses trying to play too physical.
I guess the SEC is sharing that cramped mind of his then, since he's 0-3 there.

It's one thing to say the national title or big ten title means more, but he's not winning those either....
Michigan took every bit of Ohio State's confidence, players and coaches, and flushed it down the toilet. Tennessee wins, Ohio State is done.
They coached not to lose; therefore, they lost.
@@OSUBucks77Y’alls gwanna beat 〽️in Ann Arbor with day as your coach? Nyunt-uh.
I understand what OSU fans are thinking, but I also caution:
10-win coaches don't grow on trees.
After Tennessee ran Phillip Fulmer out of town, Knoxville endured the worst decade in its history.
Even if it was the right call, it was a difficult road to travel.
Good luck to both teams!
It would be ironic if Tennessee was the team that forced OSU into that reality.

I do believe that OSU would then be staying home while Tennessee heads to Pasadena to take on our Oregen-bros.
"Throw out the Records, because in these games, Rivalry Games, records do not matter."
Anyway, eventually the discussion amongst OSU fans turned to Ryan Day...
(3-6 by the way)
So?
I wanted him gone the year Urban picked him! His coaching sucks!
bulllllshit. Go Blue!
I would celebrate if all the “lower seeds” won this weekend. It would create so much hysteria and it would be fun to sit back and watch.
Of course i could be wrong, but i just think it would be the ultimate overreaction by a program that has been beyond spoiled for way way way too long
As a Big Ten Fan, I can't see Ohio State winning over Tennessee even at home.
As a lifelong Buckeye's fan, I am not confident for this game.

Thank you. Great perspective. Folks that say that Day should be retained based on overall record are basically saying they are willing to trade wins over Purdue and Rutgers over wins against Michigan.
Thanks for sharing your perception of OSU fans. You know how fixated Ohio State fans are on Michigan.

Yes.
I can assure you nobody around here is devaluing that game and know absolutely zero fellow fans who think that’s what anyone should do or is doing
Thank you Josh, explaining the importance of the Game.
@Android6Thousand Yeah, really great points. About the QBs, I'm hoping Sayin and St.Clair turn that around, but we'll have to see.
He should've been fired after the Michigan game.
Daddy is home, Ohio. Go Blue!
Pedo comment right there
On a similar note, Clemson winning the natty would be nowhere near enough to erase the SCAR of losing to South Carolina.
Anything less than a championship win you need to fire Ryan Day!!!! he should’ve already been gone.
I grew up in Columbus... born in 63... I'm okay with having a 5-5 record, as long as we beat Michigan.
I would absolutely take a national title over beating Michigan. But, because losing to Michigan often means missing out on the Big Ten Championship game, that makes winning the title the only goal left. That's a tough goal to reach every year.
You are correct Josh. I’m a Michigan fan. We had a terrible year but we beat Ohio State! Overall,I’m a happy fan. Go Blue!
Imma just say this for me its Natty or walking papers for coach Day and ive been his backer for years! Cmon Buckeyes! Go Buckeyes!!
The good news Ohio State fans is that if Ryan Day is fired you can all apply for the job and do way better than he has. So lots of positives can come out of this situation.
These civil war games are the worst
Way to use a clip from Menace2Sports. I’m a Tennessee fans but Juck on bucks is great and I watch Zach and Kris almost everyday.
They are afraid to loose. So they play scared. It starts with the coach.
What's everyone complaining about? The OSU margin of defeat has been declining for the past two years!
I feel like this game right now is bigger than any game they have played .
That Cain vs Abel rivalry got out of hand pretty quickly back in the day.
I blame them for starting it all 😂.
Mandy Moore always said" first things first"!!
Spot on JPF
My % of him losing his job
Lose vs TENN: 100%
Lose vs ORE: 65%
Lose vs(Most Likely) TEX: 35%
Lose vs(Most Likely) GA: 10%
Win Natty: 0%
In my admittedly emotional estimation, I might bump some of those percentages up a bit.
Tennessee: 100%
Oregon: 80%
Texas: 60%
Georgia: 25%
Win Natty: 0%
Of course, this is what I want, not what I think will happen. I don't know this new AD at all, so I don't know if he's willing to make waves this early in his tenure, or if he's capable of finding a winning football coach.
