- This thing caught my attention as I walked up to the ready meal section in Sainsbury's the other day. I know that a ruby can mean a curry, so let's see if this product tastes like one...

One thing about about your vids that's really useful, is that you put the price & where you got it from in the title.
This really helps, when I've got a break in work & looking for inspiration for an evening meal.
If it's from a place that's near to where I'm working that particular day, I can check it out & see your thoughts on it.
Quite a few others don't do that & I don't really have the time to try & find the venue/price in their vids, so I come to yours first. 👍
Many thanks Basil, I am pleased to be of such assistance :)
It looks tasty but the likes of Home Bargains and Heron's do all types of currys, the same if not more weight at £1.50 to £1.75. Due to my inate Scrooginess I'd definitely buy 3 cheaper generic currys rather than the tastier expensive one.
'Innate Scrooginess' - that made me chuckle Edward, and I agree, there are really tasty curries out there for far less.
Dont look bad for the price, Cheaper than a takeaway, 😋
Just about yes Malcolm!
I find that if I microwave any sort of chicken-containing product then the chicken is invariably rubbery and hard to chew! Slower-cooked in a conventional oven is much more acceptable. But this looks quite nice and your enthusiasm helps - will seek it out next time in Sainsbuy's.
Ahhh cool track and nice rendition. / That looked really nice, added to list! Mark.
Thanks mate, it got stuck in my head all day!
The sainsbury's that I use is huge, so that's easy to miss walking by if your not really looking. I'll take a closer look next time I'm there, as it looks a real chicken heat treat.
Go for it Uncle, the heat is noticable for a change, not madras, but medium :)
That looks really good, I've had a few chilled curries from Sainsbo's and they've all been great
In my experience Sainsbury's put on a good show most of the time :)
Good Morning Papparoni, another excellent review here of this Ruby - 7.5 out of 10 is a decent score I will look out for this one ! have a great Wednesday Mate :-)
Bit of lemon and salt and I'm sure you'll like it mate :)
Dishoons London do a Ruby curry.
I guess Sainsburys product team have either eaten there or just having fun with cockney rhyming slang. Ruby Murray - curry.
I agree with lemon juice, definitely adds something to madras style curry.
Looks good to be fair.
Thank you for reviewing.
You're welcome Nigel, I reckon the Sainsbury's team have all manner of eating out, all on expenses, lucky lot.
I gave this an 8/10, seems a good effort, especially for the accuracy of the chilli rating 👍
Fair score Mark, indeed it makes a nice change to have an accurate chilli rating.
Not bad looking papps but a bit of till you definitely need to do another homemade curry review like the east at home, spice n easy or the indi grand range and add your choice of meat hopefully lamb, pork or beef and definitely include the addition of vegetables like potatoes and carrots as you did before and maybe do your curry house trick of an added egg that was a great touch but remember to buy some more lemon juice 👍👍🥘🥘
Many thanks Robert. I do have a branded spice mix in my cupboard and will film it eventually... :)
Looks rather yummy for Saturday night meal with a beer 🍺 xx
Certainly cheaper than ordering one in, even if that is really tempting after a few scoops ;)
@@Papparoni Don't see why not 🙂
Not a bad effort it seems. Nice one papp.
Indeed jay, had far worse :)
Hi Pappa 👋I'm trying to catch up on the videos. I don't often shop in Sainsbury's. I get the very occasional delivery from them. But we have always enjoyed most of their curries. I find the chicken in them is a lot better than from other places. I will try this one. Nice one Pappa 👍
Cheers Emily, you take your time. I had the chicken ruby from Sainsbury's recently and it was a nice thing :)
Great review paps looked rather tasty 😊
Thanks M, got to admit it was rather nice :)
Looks very nice indeed ❤
Curry all day long is fine by me Sophie!
(59) I live in America; maybe I should have a snoop around to see if there are any companies making curries.
Or start one, you'd make a fortune!
Will give it a go papp as the takeaways are getting pricey
I get that Stephen, I saw a chicken balti the other day from a takeaway for £12.95!
sound nice this, worth paying a bit extra if it tastes decent, id have it with a pack of fried rice, nice one papp
Cheers adz, and I get where you're coming from, I do like fried rice with curry sometimes.
Looking good but £4.25 all the money
Certainly is Adrian
Oh darn it Papp... I'm so peed off at the moment pal... I had just written out my comment about this product... And all i had left to do... Was to add on a beer emoji at the end... And just as i was clicking the button on my mouse... A pop up came up on screen... And asked if i wanted to become a member of your channel... Just at the very moment i was clicking my mouse... This then assumed that by my clicking on the pop up accidentally... I wanted to be taken to that membership page... And my comment was no longer there once i went back to the comments section... And i'm not going to write it all out again... 😂In a nutshell i said that... As I've had too many Chicken Curries containing rubbery Chicken... I tend to avoid them... And i go for those Curries that contain either Beef or Lamb... Many thanks for the review Papp... It's very much appreciated my friend... All the very best... Cheers mate. 🍺
I feel your pain Rick, sometimes I write a reply, and as I send it, the whole thing just disappears! I prefer beef or lamb curries, thankfully this one had tender chicken but I know the bouncy stuff that you mention :)
@@Papparoni 😂👌
Taste the difference stuff always disappoints. Have you by chance stumbled upon an exception?
I have Phuket, feel free to see...

Sainsbury's can do one because they claim to sell salted caramel cheesecake and they don't and quail eggs too and they don't. Stupid shop.
That did make me laugh Wayne :D
Looks posh 👍
We can bring it down a notch with some spicy rice eh Sarah!
@@Papparoni yes true lol
I had one these curries the other day , two very small pieces of chicken -dreadful.
I can understand why you think that regarding yours my friend.
Next they’ll be selling cans of Nelson Mandela 😉
I was banned from that stuff in my local aged 18!
@@Papparoni It used to be really decent but Whitbrreads have watered it down into a piss poor version these days.
The imported stuff is good,
I'll be sure to try some this summer mate :)
According to Dr. Goo-gull a Ruby curry is a cockney slang for Ruby Murray, which = curry. So a chicken ruby is just your everyday bog standard curry. Hmm 🤔
I tried finding it's origins, but it's just a term used for a curry, even in India.
No particular demographics.
Goodbye 'Ruby' Tuesday.....
Cheers Papp 👍🤤😀
Indeed I first heard the term when I was in London as a lad :)
