I always had a soft spot for the megane cup, its such a pretty design and as you show, very capable! Living in arizona now, there is no experience like combining British B roads with hot hatch. Everyone here pokes at how small cars back home are with their 99' camaros boosted for straight runs and tank tops. I can safely say the most fun in a car I ever had was driving through empty country roads in a 2003 vectra 2.2DTI (no hot hatch sure!) But I was 21 then, couldn't really afford a hot hatch. Wish I could. But any car can put you in a good place on the right road. 28 now and with money, I wish I was back home in Wiltshire! Americans only really understand 'power' and straight roads. If only they knew 😪
Can attest to this, my last two cars were an mk2 focus rs and an m135i, I've had evos, cossies, you name it.... most fun drive I've ever had was in my little civic Jordan 1.6 through snakes pass, absolutely the time of my life.
Renault Sport was created in the mid-1990s as the new Sports and Motorsports branch of Renault out of the remains of Gordini and ... ALPINE. The Renault Sport factory for manufacturing the Motorsport cars versions has even taken over the place of Alpine's factory in Dieppe in the North West of France. So there is nothing incredible or surprising about the recreated and strong Alpine resuming its place in the place of Renault Sport, at least when we really know the history of sports cars and motorsport at Renault over the past 30 years... It is "un retour à la Source" as we say in French.
I had a Megane 275 Trophy. Beautiful handling hatchback. The Clio RS Trophy after it was very good but it never gave the thrill of the Megane. But the most recent FK8 Type R finally surpassed it.
I have actually purchased this exact car early last year and currently own it, can confirm it is not a cup (dealership claimed it was too) and had severely worn front suspension arms and top mounts.
Absolutely love these, always thought they were the pinnacle of the modern hatch. I always preferred the characteristics and rawness of the Astra H VXR. For me the sound always let down the megane RS's, more so the 225. How do you find they compare in pound for pound fun?
Bit late on comments but I’ve got the 265 and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned handling is god mode and turns heads. It’s become a rare car to see on the road but it’s the Audi bmw and merc drivers that always try racing and the mighty Megane is what takes the win it’s a fantastic car and for my next car it has to be new one
@@b71071 yeah my bad. NA clio 8.2k open cone screaming devil combined with a track focused chassis and a dexent exhaust... Never felt so much drama and euphoria in a regular car
I purchased this car and can confirm it is not a cup, the garage tried claiming it was but I did my own research, I should have taken that as a sign because the car turned out to have a fair few things wrong with it so you dodged a bullet there! Excellent fuel consumption was meant in a way that it’s basically a daily drivable track car which can be driven to the shops taken on long journeys and still return decent fuel range, in comparison to a race car
Anything that is as capable as a Megane that can give you over 20mpg is good fuel consumption I'd say. If you floor it everywhere obviously it will be worse. My stage 2 275 gets around 23-25mpg and I rag it everywhere. A recent trip from Manchester to Cornwall and back saw over 40mpg. I'd say for what these cars are, that is excellent.

The Renaultsport division is completely different than regular Renaults, and every RS Renault is reliable if maintained properly. I mean RS is a two time F1 world champion and 9 more with their powertrains. The whole reason Renault won in 05 or 06 I dont remember is because it was more reliable, the Ferraris and Mclarens especially were way faster but broke down every second race

Man like Ricky 🙌 good to see the winner, I love it when you call them on the live
Awesome cars. So much fun. 247....many are closer to 270 when put on dynos. Hubs get worn alot which can make them move around on hard acceleration.
more hp than advertised u reckon?

Proper hot hatch doesn't need loads of power and sticks to the road like shit🔥
Absolutely loved my old mk3 gutted when I sold it
Just replaced it with a mk4 rs300 trophy
And it's just incredible
Couldn't go back now
These are nice but the one for me is the NA Clio 200. That is as good as hot hatches get
A man with intellect 🎉

I’d probably go 182 feels more raw the 200 feels a bit heavy

Shame they didn't make the steering wheels with chrome on the cup like it has on my Megane 1.5 mk3 2013
Man like ricky back again
They can be good with a bit of work didn't like one I had from standard the lift off oversteer was crazy way I drive down tight back roads

Very capable, reliable as a chocolate fireguard though.. 🤣
They are French Junk
Reliability has been good on mine wish I could say the same about my families stable of German cars 🤡
So strange to see a standard interior but also someone put your steering wheel on the wrong side 🤦♂️
Excellent fuel consumption 😅 my 265 does 22mpg regardless of driving style 🙈
I got over 40 in my 275 going from Manchester to Cornwall and back
I get 80mpg in my vxr, with the clutch in

Reliable?
Excellent fuel consumption 😂😂they really ain’t
Bro I was referring to it being a daily drivable track car rather than an all out race car which would not have any thoughts about fuel consumption
And I’ve owned 1 and didn’t notice fuel being bad

If it has 247hp thats not normal coze the 250 version has more hp its about 260 270hp real hp so something wrong with that one
