    In your opening to today's excellent video, you mentioned that Photoshop 25 was just released, which brings Gen Fill and Gen Expand into Photoshop (not just beta). I am sure you already noticed, but you might want to mention in a future video that starting on November 1, 2023 Adobe will be using Generative Credits to track usage. Plus there will be a price increase starting on November 1.
    The Adobe Firefly technology runs on Adobe servers and there is a cost to keep those servers running. In my opinion, Adobe is pricing this reasonably. I just think that people need to be made aware of this new pricing before they get hit with "sticker shook".
    As always, I think you are one of the best (if not the best) Photoshop training channels on TH-cam!!!

    Again an excellent video which reveals the potential of the TK9.
    A question about your workflow: You removed some elements at the very end on a top layer. Would it be a good idea to make this kind of retouching at the beginning, before all the lights, color and contrast adjustments?

    Wow Dave, very impressive. This has been your best TK9 lesson to-date. I learned so much today. Especially around the power of using the Blend-If option. I will have to watch this lesson again but it is safe to say that I will now be dodging and burning with Blend-if going forward. I love TK Friday's.

    Hello Dave. I hope you and your family are well. I have been watching your TK Friday video tutorials for sometimes now and you made me in love with them. First, I would like to say that you are an excellent instructor in every way! And I thank you very much for that! I bought TK9 through you and I am very happy with them! I just would like to ask you to edit more cityscape and architecture images! I also would like to see you using DXO Nik software with TK Actions. I think you said in one of your videos before, that cityscape or architecture and TK Actions together are made in heaven!? I wish you a good health Dave and keep up the good work.

    Another winner Dave, thank you. One question though... I usually use a transparent dodge/burn layer. I used grey today following along, but when I tried a transparent /d/b with edit blend if, the magenta mask reveal did nothing. Any suggestions? No biggie cos the grey is fine, but would be interested, especially as you said either grey or transparent would work.

    • @TonyKuyper
      @TonyKuyper ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The magenta overlay shows what is revealed on a layer through the layer mask and Blend If settings. On a totally transparent layer, NOTHING is being revealed as far as the image is concerned. The layer is empty. As soon as you paint on the layer with black or white paint, however, you'll see magenta start to show (if the overlay is active) since the paint is being revealed on that layer.

    Hi Dave, thanks a lot for this teaching lesson. When someone think we got it with the whole TK9, you present Dodge /Burn with Blend If.
    This work very well, you can make it subtle or a bit stronger, but don't stop the workflow. @ Tony, you reveal the potential of Blend If and give us the appropriate graph. Interface. 👏👍 cheers from Berlin, Germ, Daniel

    Boy, does this image jump off the page!!! This is a great edit. I especially liked the blend if edits. This offers yet another way to burn & dodge besides what was available in TK8. Of course, blend if was available in TK8, but only manually and without a graphic visualization. So thank you, Tony & Dave.

    I know you use a Wacom tablet for painting. On mine's, I am getting scratchy lines when I paint, even at 10% opacity. I changed the nib and it it does not help. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure what would be going on with you Wacom Tablet. Are you getting the same scratchy lines when using the mouse? Also check your brush hardness and make sure it is set to 0% hardness.

    An outstanding TK9 Lesson, thanks Dave. One PS question, if you want to re-edit a gradient tool edit you made for any reason, do you have to start the gradient tool edit over from the beginning or can you re-enter and edit the gradient you already made?

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mario. With the new Gradient Tool you have the ability to re-edit the Gradient even after closing the file and re-opening. For gradients on layer masks it’s a little different. As long as the file is open you can re-edit the gradient on a layer mask but as soon as you close the file it is not longer editable.

    Dave this is off topic a bit. Can the TK9 panel create a Earthshine image from two exposures of the moon and if so how is it done. Thank you if you can help. I know it can be done with a gradient in PS but it can be a lot hit and miss. Stephen

    This has nothing to do with this edit but is a general TK-9 question. When I add a watermark (cmd click on copyright button) it does exactly what it should. I, however, always change the color using the color overlay in blend modes. I have created a photoshop action to do that but would like to have both run with a single keypress. I cannot figure out how to invoke the TK9 action from within a photoshop action. Probably not stated very well. What I want to do is invoke a TK9 action followed by a regular photoshop action with a single keypress.

    • @TonyKuyper
      @TonyKuyper ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Button clicks in the TK9 plugin are not captured when recording Photoshop actions. Just recently, Adobe made this possible, but it is complicated and needs to be enable for every single button in the panel, which would be a nightmare to code. The Export module does let you automatically change the color of the watermark if you choose to do so, so that is one option to maybe consider.

    • @dretwav
      @dretwav ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TonyKuyper Thanks. Probably the easiest thing for me to do is just "imitate the water mark action". It wouldn't need to be as flexible since I always use same image and put it in the same location"

    • @dretwav
      @dretwav ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually that was a five minute task. Open the watermark file, select all, copy, paste to working document, convert to smart object, transform, add color overlay, close watermark file. I set the transform and color overlay steps to show the dialog so I can reposition if necessary. Thanks again for TK9. Really enjoying the new features.

    You can also use BlendIf as "selection" to paint onto a mask on curves in multiply/screen blend mode to burn/dodge, with actual selection to stop spilling over. Advantage of using a mask is the the purple double arrow overlay then shows the areas that have actually had effect applied to them as this combines mask with BlendIf to determine where overlay appears. If mask is then disabled using big red X then overlay shows where effect can be applied as in your dodge/burn method.
