I love the novel and have seen all the interpretations, but Sam Claflin is on a level somewhere else, but hopefully, they will preserve the tragedy and hope of the novel.
Mercedes being mistreated. Not way. She does not deserve something like that. She has suffered a lot with Esmond's absence. Fernand Mondego is a jerk. Never deserved her. What i LOVE of this the most is that not knowing 100% Who this Guy is she trust in him cos he looks like Edmond and is soft and gentle with her like Edmond used to do. Even if the Count of Montecristo would have been another different Guy and not Edmond i would have shipped him with Mercedes with the same passion. He is so honorable, and Carry his brokeness like SHIELD for fighting against his enemies. He deserves the LOVE of a Brave woman like Mercedes Herrera. ❤❤Edmond is hurt cos the earrings back is like if he would lose her again
But unfortunately, in the book Edmond sailed away with Haydee, he couldn’t overcome his pride and ego, he couldn’t accept that woman he loved, didn’t wait for him..
I don’t know if it’s better acting or the fact that the series is a bit more resembling of the novel than the new French film, but Sam Claflin plays a better CoMC than Pierre Niney. Niney’s is too tortured and somber.
Yes! Sam Claflin is an Excellent actor. Pierre Ninney is cold in all his roles!!! Seems that he has one only expression only. In Sam Claflin you can even listening the pain in his voice, and the Joy, the peace. Is amazing
@@kefinkamed and you are the right. Why? The most important adaptation is not the one who is 100% like the book. Many writers years later they regret the ending they wrote. J. R. Rowlings is the clearest example of this. If "The Count of Monte Cristo" was adapted literally it would be boring, too long. It has characters with qualities that the directors change and improve. Just because you like Pierre Niney doesn't make your opinion any better than ours, and you should censor them completely. Your opinion is so valuable like our ones. Is not better. Even if your ego says that. I don´t like Pierre Ninney, i recently saw him in "The perfect man" and her play just bored me. His expression is the same when it comes to expressing all the feelings. He is a cold actor, in my opinion without beauty, without charisma, but I understand that many people like him. Pierre Ninney reminds me of Hitchcock's blonde women, maybe it's his way of acting, I don't know what acting methods he uses. But Sam Claflin really transmits all that pain that doesn't blind him, like Ninney, at this point it's not Pierre's fault but the director's, but it's legitimate if he wanted to show an Edmond too bitter to go on with his life.. Depardieu, Claflin and over all Caviezel are my fav counts, their pain is so credible, that hurts.

I never said one actor is better than the other, one adaptation is better than the other or that your opinion is less valid than mine. You simply chose to read it that way, and there's nothing I can do about that. It does illustrate my point about your lack of appreciation for nuance perfectly though, so thank you.
