This works. Both my tabs on the distributor was broken. Only issue I had is if I put the short front screw in 1st I couldn't get the back to line up to screw it down. Spent an hour trying to get it to line up and you can't see it. So I took out the front short one and did the rear long screw 1st then I can see the front one to line up. And went right on in less than 15 min.
Man, thank you so so very much. I just broke one of the ears off of mine yesterday! I was frustrated and didn’t want to buy a new distributor! You’re a lifesaver! Again thanks and by the way, you just got a new subscriber!!!
I ran into that part working on my dad's truck. Saved him some money, so I had to share. Thanks for watching subscribing and commenting. Let me know what you think of my other videos.
Dude, you just saved me a ton of time and headaches! Last owner of my truck had stripped these out and they were just kinda hanging in there by luck. I think he may have used caulk or the like to get them to stay relatively tight. This is a much better fix that is permanent. Thank you so much & keep up the good work!
Thank you, my day just went from crap to, ok. I just bought this truck for cheap. My first problem was the rotor screws were corroded so I used a Dremel to cut the plastic around then I used a pair of vice grips to remove them. Both tabs were broken and the truck wtill drove so this was a real surprise.
Very problematic design and easy to damage. I stumbled upon this fix and had to share it. Thanks for watching and the positive feedback. I really appreciate it.
I could have saved a lot if I knew that bracket was out there. What about brand new distributor rotor cross threaded screw holes? Right out of the box, a bad factory srew hole tap job left me with a useless distributor. A quick fix was a self taping screw was installed but ugly. Any thoughts?
I was happy to find that bracket as well. I was doing a no start on my dad's blazer when I ran into the cap screw issues. As far as the rotor screws, not much you can do short of replacement. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Very common for those screws to strip or break. Were you able to get it fixed without replacing the distributor? Keep me posted. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@shanersmechaniclife3164 I know I use to have 15 years ago so I know but back then we had to change the whole distributor cause the tab broke off. Buy for my 99 they have a solution. Good video bro
This works for plastic distributors as well. It does not cause a gap. The plate sandwiches the distributor body between it and the cap. Thanks for watching and commenting.
How to unclog the air vent holes? is the screen closer to the top or the bottom of the holes and is it okay to just drill through the screen to open it up and leave it like that?
Dorman is a fairly well known company. Any parts place should be able to bring it in for you. Hope it works for you. Keep me posted and thanks for watching.

I'm glad it worked for you! I will keep that in mind next time I need to do this.
You just saved me the cost of a new distributor. I was in a rush and should have stopped. I knew I was cross threading. Thanks!

Does this work if the distributor is plastic? Yours is metal.
Does this cause a gap, and the distributor won't seat properly?

I find a quick shot of brake clean does the trick. Just make sure it evaporates before you try to start it.
EXCELLENT EXPLANATION ! THANK YOU !

How do I buy one? I don't have an Amazon account.

Just bought one of these. The holes didn't line up. From reading reviews, its a common problem
Better off replacing the plastic pos with an aluminum housing distributor, 174 bucks at napa
True but I've also seen those strip out on numerous occasions, especially when people over torque and strip them out.
