Do you have to adjust the timing on 96 vortec with a scanner or just drop it in. Never messed with a vortec yet got one as a plow truck but always messed around with tbi one
It has to be dropped in just perfect. Or waller out the hold down like I did, but you'll need the scan tool to know where your timing is either way, cause there's no timing marks on the front cover
@@DITG78 hey what do you mean by waller out, i bought the distributor at autozone and for some reason they just cant get is to set right, then one guy set you might neead to open it a little so it can slide, he said if its not the original one i was going to have trouble.
@calebmurillo454 the distributor hold down bracket, the hole the bolt goes in, use a drill bit and make the hole bigger. Also have to take the bracket of and clean the edges up so the distributor will actually turn in the hold down bracket.

I've never had a scan tool to set timing on my 96 with 334 000
The computer will let you know

And never use any thing but a GM Cap and Roter...... Trust me..
