I remember that song "All Night Thing". Back in the 1980's my uncle John was a teenager that would buy a new album seems like every other week when he would go to the mall and when he came home to play his record, we had to be quiet and say nothing but listen to the music 🤣😆😂. I had a awesome childhood in the fabulous 70's & 1980's.✊🖤🤎👏

All night thing was always my favorite song to dance to in the club, ad soon as we walked in the DJ knew to play it a couple times throughout the night, to this day its in my favorites list and I still at 60 yes old listen and dance to the long version at least twice a week, I don't think it got as much air time that it should have. RIP 🙏🏼

Nice vid family! “The First Family of Soul” is one of my favorite groups. From a pure singing standpoint, I prefer them over the J5. My favorite song by them is “You Waited Too Long” but I also love “Bad News” from their “Our Family Portrait” album. They should be in every hall of fame.

The Spinners as a ground are legends just like other groups and have the hit songs ti back it up,the many tour they did,tv shows . The last surviving Spinner not too long passed, but their music remained and still will as I can repeatedly rattle off their hits .

In the early 80s DJ Grandmaster Vic out of South Jamaica Queens made Keni Burke’s a NYC street classic and the Queens (NYC) anthem. He played that song continuously at hip hop parties, block parties and park jams. Rising To The Top played out of every luxury cars in Queens during the 80s which led to all the hip-hop producers wanting to sample that song. Thank you Keni Burke for blessing the culture with “Rising To The Top” and blessing South Jamaica Queens with its 80s anthem.

Love Keni Burke’s Risin’ to the Top. As a kid growing up in the 80s, I listened to it often and I still do today. I didn’t know Keni was apart of the 5 Stair Steps. This group is before my time and indeed were ahead of their time with their tight music arrangement, beautiful vocals and songs fulled with great messages. I believe the group deserves to be in the music hall of fame as the first family of soul. My favorite song by The Five Stairsteps is O-o-h Child. Rising To The Top by Keni Burke is a classic Chicago's steppers cut. 👞👠🕴🏿💃🏿🎶🎼🎵
I'm listening to the ages when some of the bros died. They weren't that old. They should be inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame, RRHOF, and Song Writer's Hall of Fame too. Thanks for the Burkes story.

They should be inducted into the R&B Hall of Fame. My favorite of theirs is Don't Waste Your Time. Come back is a runner up.

I loved Ooh Child, but my favorite was From Us To You. That song was slept on. That song got me through a very difficult childhood. I am 61 years old and I still listen to that song and it still gets me through. Thank you for posting

Wow! I listen to "Rising to the top" on my motivation mix and I didn't know he was a former member of the 5 Stairsteps. "O-Oh Child" is another song I have on my motivation mix as well and that's my favorite song and my brother bought " All night thing" a bangin' party song from around 1980. I didn't know they did that one as well under a different name. Thanks for the bio. I didn't realize they were up in age as well. Go Chi-town sound!!

    Oooh Baby Baby and
    Oooh Child
These two song's should put them in to some hall of fame.
I don't know which one because I'm not that familiar with the choices.
Although those two songs have been used movies, TV shows and commercials for decades.

Phenomenal family and group. "Ooh, baby make me feel so good" is a heavenly sublime song. But these singers could make "Goo Goo, Gah Gah" sound good! Long live the mighty 5 Stairsteps/Stairsteps! @@@*** Sembene Nathanyahu, author and creator of the upcoming bestseller, "Whisper"s Getting Lpuder", in Chicago

The 5 Stair Steps used to be at the Apollo Theater in Harlem on heavy Rotations & Kenny Burke was a Star I think they called him Cubby. He has a look that had the girls going wild. I was there in the early 70s Live🏆🙏 ohh Child was a favorite

The Five Stairsteps, and their songs, most notably: Ooh Ooh Child, is woven into the tapestry of American life in the 1960's and beyond. They transitioned from the romantic doo-wop era of soft ballads, and love songs to 1980's R & B, and Funk. ( might even have made it onto the "Guardians of the Galaxy" playlist. Unfortunately for most of the artists who made the R & R Hall of Fame: to them it literally is the Rock and Roll Hall of Flame.

Man I remember so well hooking school getting an older guy to buy me a bumper of colt 45 or a bumper of ole English a pint of Barcardi and a coke and sneaking my girlfriend in the house when my parents were at work playing the 5 stairsteps album and it was on for us. Bro with your knowledge of ole school you know how to make an old man wish for younger days. 😂
