I rarely comment but seeing your educational background I can’t help but imagine that you have a demanding personal/professional life and yet you still are taking the time to not only make these videos, but research, verify that your source is credible, cite them, and apply your expertise to create such a niche video to educate and soothe your viewers. So much mental work goes into this and the physical execution is phenomenal. I can’t wait to see/hear/learn more!!
@ thank you for replying! i’ll look up what that is! curious as i’m doing my masters atm in molecular biology! and am considering going down the PhD route.
@@aislinglucy a bit of Psychology and a bit of Epidemiology, more or less 🙂 happy to answer any PhD questions you might have! Good luck in your masters.
i don’t get tingles when i watch asmr, but i find it super relaxing for when im trying to wind down to go to sleep. it’s hard for me to do usually because of my anxiety so asmr rlly helps me!
Always the same dilemma with your videos, I’m super interested in the content and really appreciative of you sharing scientific research with us, but I also find your voice so relaxing I keep drifting off straight away 🤣💖
Gabriel - you’re right across our audio sensory responses. High grade execution. Trying tonight, a bit earlier, to stay awake, to fully appreciate your skill. ❤😂❤
I only get tingles when I focus on the ASMR. if I’m watching it in the background or am multitasking, I don’t get them. It’s interesting to hear the scientific aspects of it! addendum to my original comment: how do they measure reduced depression in their participants? It’s a medical disorder that’s complex and has high and low points, so how do they compare it to other more concrete moods over disorders?
Good question! They used something called the Profile of Mood States (POMS). Participants rate adjectives (e.g., sad, tired) on a 5-point Likert scale (ranging from 0 ‘Not at all’ to 4 ‘Very much’). The higher the scores on a scale are, the larger the emotional disturbance. You could be very much right, maybe it was more general sadness, and depression related symptoms this measured than actual clinical depression. Although the scale is validated, so scoring high in depression should be at least associated with clinical depression symptomology. Thank for leaving this comment! 🫶🏼
🤣 this is hilarious! The only context in which falling asleep to something I’m telling you you about is a compliment. Not a problem I had considered to be honest 🤣🤣
