Yes, yes it does.
Back in the '80s, Iceland had a big Post-Punk scene compared to its population. Only 250.000 people lived there. So the urban centres of such a music scene were only Reykjavík, Kópavogur and maybe Akureyri.
I really doubt that there will be more than 10 Icelandic Post-Punk/Dark Wave bands in the near future.
Check out bands like Bömmer, Kvöl and Börn (aka Norn). They sound a little bit like Joy Division. And look for a band called Q4U from Reykjavík. That's how Kælan Mikla would sound in the '80s.

Grew up with Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Tones on Tail, Sisters of Mercy etc.....KM is right up there. Thank you KM!
This album has been so fucking magical i can't even... Every single video and track has been so unic, it's still true to the darwave/minimal sound of Kælan Mikla and yet it brings a more ritualistic, witchy lyric based sound. These girls are making me love them more and more, STORMURINN!

I love the melding of Industrial/darkwave synth and organic, witchy vibes. Iceland be really throwing out some crazy ish this past decade.
First time I saw them actually live as an introducer to Alcest (last year in Berlin, or 2019? Time goes so fast..) and at first I wasn't into their high screeching sounds. But the beats and the lower voice acts like in Naeturblom got me hooked and now I am a fan 🖤
