    Thanks!
    I bought an old Z235 (2014 with only 160 hours) with the same setup. Watching your video helped with the blade change as I’d not done this having only owned the mower for a short time. Appreciated!

    Very instructive and thorough demo. I've pretty much owned and used John Deere lawn tractors and mowers all of my adult life ... Grand-dad was an old school farmer throughout the 30' thru the early 80s, and he bought everything JD, so I naturally followed I his footsteps. I used mowers from the old 110s, 112s, and moved up to the 210s-212s .... and finally to the 318s, and have 3 total bc I love that model so much ... snow removal etc. I love the power steering and hydraulics, but no🎉w I'm in town and mowing less, so purchased a ZTrack 345R a couple of seasons ago.
    Basically, all decks hang pretty much under the power unit, but hookup is a little different from the steering wheel models to stick-steer. Your video certainly shows some pointers that make removal/hookup much easier! So thank you for offering it! I'm older now, with the back and hip issues that age often brings! Lol ... Thnx again, and Blessings to you. P.S. I did want to come back and make a suggestion ... After reinstalling the 42" deck on my Z345R, it occurred to me that I didn't mention that when re-installing the deck, I have a tapered Craftsman pry gar that I use as a drift pin/bar in aligning the lift arms, which makes that portion of re-installion much easier. Stay safe and well ..... Thanks again.

      The John Deere 318 with the Onan engine and power steering was one of my most like machines that could do it all!! I'm glad my video helped you out! Thank you for sharing and the kind comment.

    Great instructional video for all of us non-mechanics. I wrestled with my deck to change blades and install the mulch kit … but now I know the better way to do this. I also appreciate the video on you channel for greasing the spindles. If it’s true the unit ships without grease, and there’s no prep, it’s no wonder those bearings wear prematurely.

    Your video was very helpful. Watched it prior to removing the 54 inch Accel Deep deck from my Z515e ZTrak. While some of the pin locations and the lift mechanism were slightly different from those on the Z335 on your video it was close enough serve as a nice guide. The 3/8 drive extension to release the belt was very helpful. Hardest part, frankly, was moving the heavy 54 inch deck in and out after it was disconnected.

    Dude. Your my go to guy on my Z335. As I said in another post I just bought one with just under a 100 hours on it and it's like brand new. It was treated well. And also like I said going from my Craftsman 46 inch tractor style which I really liked, I love the Z335. And honestly the deck appears to be much easier to take off on the Z335 than it was on the Craftsman. I wish you had one of those tip things $42 or $5 or whatever, because I would donate. You've helped me tremendously over the last couple of weeks watching your videos on the Z335. I did get all the paperwork instructions and video on this mower, but right after I brought at home I had to take my truck to the shop to have some work done to it and I left that stuff in there. I just have a couple of questions and I was glad to see that 1 of the things is exactly the same on your mower. On the left side of the mower deck as you are sitting on the mower, there's a little tower with a bunch of holes in it. I thought maybe I was missing something, but yours is exactly the same way. What is that?. Also on the right side as you are sitting on the mower there is a handle that moves what looks kind of like a mulching thing. Initially that's what I thought it was but actually it doesn't close all the way, So I'm thinking that that is for when you drop your deck and hook the hose to it. And do the clean out. It looks like yours also has that same handle. One more question, do you recommend using the hose apparatus for the internet clean out?. Thank you so much for taking the time. 💪😎

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The metal tab on the mower deck with the holes is a bump stop. It will not allow the mower deck to raise any higher if you over adjust the mower deck height. The second question, yes it is a mulching cover and if properly working should close off the side dish charge so you can mulch and open so it will let grass out when not mulching. The third question. I do not recommend using the wash port on the side of the mower deck or even washing your machine. If you want to keep your mower deck bearings from going bad, always keep the bearings fully greased and try never to wash your machine. Just use a hand held blower every time your finished mowing to keep debris from accumulating.

      @@JohnsonsSmallEngines Thank you for all your help, and I did buy a leaf blower right after I bought the John Deere. Honestly, I don't know how I've lived without a leaf blower all these years!! Seriously!! I won't use water, I'll Jack it up and get into there and clean out underneath. There may be something obstructing the mulch sliding cover. Thank you so much for answering my questions and taking the time 💪👍😎

    Thanks so much! Using the 3/8" hole to release the spring is genius man! Here is an idea to share with you on that if you have not heard it from others. I followed your lead, but I bought a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter and just put that on my 3' breaker bar that is 1/2" drive. Works fantastic, is long enough to reach all the way out for easy access. Your pipe works great too, but I did not have one. Anyway, loved the video and made my first deck removal a piece of cake! Oh, one last suggestion. When the deck is free, I just release the back two wheels and roll the front wheels to the left (spin the mower left) and the deck come right out. No dragging the deck across the surface. Have a great day!
