When you remove what is needed for it to work it will not work. In my honest opinion the test is faulty on someone that cleans their ears as much as Shaun does. However I still enjoyed this test.

Critter is right. I have had an ENT all my life due to having lots of ear surgeries as a kid due to too many ear infections. Had both ear drums rebuilt in my 20's. These candles do more harm to your ears than good and what comes out of the candle is not wax its candle and it has been proven many times. Also if you actually take a good hard look when it opens up a candle that hasn't been used that little tube at the end is wicked small and there is no way that huge hunk of supposive wax fit through that hole. I know a guy whos brother n laws wife used it on him once and he went deaf in the ear they did it in. It was from the candle. My ENT says those are the most dangerous things you can use in your ears. Trust me have an ENT look inside your ears I can promise you they will still find all that wax inside them. You are better off letting an ENT clean out your ears or do it with warm water.

The ear will warm up and the flame on top creates a suction. As the muslin burns, you cut off just above the flame so it keeps pulling up the ear wax. This pulls old wax from the bottom. Especially because when using a Q-tip one often pushes older wax further down towards the drum. You should use oil in the ear after you are done to keep the canal lubricated and the ear will begin to make regular amounts of ear wax again. The ear candles really work. I once pulled a small bug from someone's ear using the candles. The ones I have used do not have filters.
i do the candles about once a month. my dad use to do this treatment to me as a child. when i say treatment it was when i had pressure in the ears. like ear aches and such. he never used these candles. he made something similar by rolling newspaper very tight. say concept as the candles. one way to verify these candles may work is to make one out of paper (no bee wax) and test for the results. i would love to see the results. regular paper vs the manufactured candles

The candles don't actually pull the wax out. It solidifies and makes it loose so it can be gently scraped out with the proper tools. Or Coaxed out with a q-tip (or even a bath really)

I've always wondered if these actually worked. I used to use them as a kid but then moved to hydrogen peroxide. I clean my ears on the reg with Q-tips (I know, I know), but I found some of these at a health store awhile back and my wife had never seen them, so we bought and used them ... only to find the horror inside. I think that the yellow powder is wax and the black stuff is the ash and earwax. So if Shaun's eats are clean, then it would be mostly ash. That would also explain why the burnt one that wasn't in someone's ear has that black stuff. Then the brown and skinny things from Shaun's channel were the pure earwax.
It's been awhile, but I used to use ear candles often. You should do at least two per ear...the first "loosens" the wax, and the second will actually pull gunk out.
Ear wax candles work actually pretty well the ones we get don't have filters in the bottom we use them when we have ear infections they help your ear from hurting and don't burn it all the way burn it to half or a little lower then dump it in water

The candles don't actually pull the wax out. It solidifies and makes it loose so it can be gently scraped out with the proper tools. Or Coaxed out with a q-tip (or even a bath really)
You guys looked like you were low on subscribers, so I subscribed. ;) My husband and I tried these when we were newlyweds and weren't sure if they actually worked. It was amusing though, except for when I almost set him on fire.

I've always wondered if these actually worked. I used to use them as a kid but then moved to hydrogen peroxide. I clean my ears on the reg with Q-tips (I know, I know), but I found some of these at a health store awhile back and my wife had never seen them, so we bought and used them ... only to find the horror inside. Huge amounts of crumbly wax buildup. I thought the inside of the candle was coated with a thin layer of beeswax and it was all hype .. Thanks for doing the control burn and confirming my theory!

They work! I've been using them for 15+ years. The powder is dried residue from shampoo and conditioner.

I think that the yellow powder is wax and the black stuff is the ash and earwax. So if Shaun's eats are clean, then it would be mostly ash.
That would also explain why the burnt one that wasn't in someone's ear has that black stuff. Then the brown and skinny things from Shaun's channel were the pure earwax.
I can not see a box of Q-Tips and not use one....... hard for me to admit, but It is true.
I have to keep the in the drawer at all times.

It's been awhile, but I used to use ear candles often. You should do at least two per ear...the first "loosens" the wax, and the second will actually pull gunk out.

Ear wax candles work actually pretty well the ones we get don't have filters in the bottom we use them when we have ear infections they help your ear from hurting and don't burn it all the way burn it to half or a little lower then dump it in water
