Steve Vai - Paganini 5th Caprice (Crossroads) - Blindfolded Cover

- Inspired by a blind student of mine I decided to take up the challenge and play the Guitar Battle from Crossroads blindfolded - I had to practice it a couple of times, though.
Paganini 5th Caprice from the Crossroads Guitar Battle (1986) originally between Steve Vai and Ralph Macchio.
I play the Engl E650 Ritchie Blackmore Signature Amp and the Gibson Les Paul Supreme Model. - เพลง
His muscle memory is better than my actual memory
Don't you think usually if you do something enough times you don't need to memorise it
@@iseeyou3352 that's why its called MUSCLE memory, you don't have to memorize it mentally, but subconsciously your body remembers the motions of an action, which id consider to be a form of memory.
Nice one 😂
ikr 😭
Yeah like im memorize all gta san andreas ps2 cheats with my fingers 🤣
Somebody's been practicing 40 hours a day.
LING LINGS UNITE!
Bass < Violin
9 days a week
nah man, 69 hours a day
367,461,469 days a year
I've been playing guitar for years. Then i go watch you-tube videos and find out that i have not been playing guitar for years
😂😂😂 I feel that
A lot of these kind of players are incapable of playing with other musicians.
@@Hooverdarnit thats a good point
Same as me...
XD
Its cool. Its not Smoke on the Water, but its cool.
LOL
ya exactly it's not wonder wall but it's okay.
Were do ya rank it against “ Flight of Bumblebee”??
It’s Smoke on Cool Water
What's he trying to prove anyway? Just don't look at your fretboard. geez. It's not smoke on the water but there's a lot of smoke being blown.
Good job man. Thanks for reminding the rest of us that we suck.
Ikr
Ahhahahah .. You just made my day :D :D :D
For sure I've been trying to learn to play this a long time this clean, then I see this. Thanks man
I will join you in your comment.
Let me join u too brothaa
The only thing i can do blindfolded is sleep 😒
Same
You're getting sleep?!
Bruh I can’t even to that, my eyes itch
I can clean my pistols and rifles and reassemble them while blindfolded.
I can brush my teeth blindfolded lol
I’m once played this so badly at Guitar Center somebody yelled out “ stick to stairway to heaven”😩
Damn bro...
Don't listen to them, Keep grinding buddy! 👍🏼💯
That is gold, man!
HAHA...!
RIP
*The Devil wants to know your location*
wrong. if he didnt already how would he have traded the soul for this?
I think I'm going to try this before playing the really hard ones like seven nation army or smells like teen spirit
excellent plan buddy
Glad it’s not just me that finds those two particularly difficult
Bruh smoke on the water and wonderwall are the hardest
Meh. That's too easy. I prefer learning the trough the fire an flames solo and then i'll go to the massive difficult ones like seven nation army
Ya but smells like teen changed everything. It killed big hair and mascara. Your just up set you can’t your moms panties and make up anymore
Great, but can you make a grilled cheese sandwich in the middle of the night without waking anyone up? I did, I think.
N. S. I guess you woke yourself up, does that count?
NO FUCKING WAY
Cheese is gross
Narrator: He didn’t
N. S. Hahaha
The fact that you played this on a Gibson Les Paul is just mindblowingly impressive. Amazing playing.
Why does the Les Paul have a factor? Just curious on your opinion that all
@@McWizard420 Playing any metal (or speed solo) on an LP is difficult for the rise of the bridge
A metal guitar is completely flat so you can play as fast as possible, when you go to the LP it feels super weird
@@hectorsaldanamorales4508 interesting…I learned how to play on an LP so I’ve never actually noticed aha…I just figured If slash could do It so can I!I also own a Jackson which don’t get me wrong is a little easier to shred on. But man that LP just feels like something special. Thanks for the reply!
@@hectorsaldanamorales4508Not really. For starters, Steve Vai has a higher action than what you think based on typical shred guitars. Also, it's insanely easy to set up a Les Paul with a low action. Not to mention famous players such as Zakk Wylde, Gary Moore, and Buckethead who also shredded on Les Paul's. The fact is, if you have good technique you can play on anything. The idea that you "need a guitar for playing fast" is cope for people who can't play.
@@hectorsaldanamorales4508Exactly, and I bet the higher action plays a part in it too. The tension is different.
0:44 I think that's one of the best riffs I have ever heard in my life. So freakin good 🤘
Ralph macchio wants to know your location
ahaha!
Frederik Bang says he’s gonna karate chop the fuck out of yer.
Ralph Macchio is a fckn ninja....no need for stupid address, he will just materialize behind his prey
you mean eugene, right? Ralph only learned guitar so that he could get the role
How? He's getting his butt kicked by Johnny Lawrence from Kobra Kai.
But can you Play Seven Nation Army?
But can you do this?
Damn not only did u steal my comment but u got more likes, feels bad
Dum dum dum dum dub bum bam baam
HAHAHAHAHAHHAAVAHHAHHAAHHAHA
hahah
Probably one of the best performances that I’ve heard of this song, absolutely amazing.
Brilliant, I’ve been playing for about 25 years & could never in my wildest dreams think of attempting this. Well played & bloody blind folded as well. Amazing. 👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍👍👍
I’m sorry - this guy’s playing is ridiculously perfect. I’m burning my guitar and throwing all my platinum selling records on the pyre. It’s over.
Music is for everyone, not only for virtuosos
I agree.. I could play EVH, Marty Friedman n some Satrianis but this is impossible.
Jajajajjajajaj
Bye

That's nothing...do it backwards and in Spanish.

Es muy fácil el español, solo tienes que aprender algunas palabras clave y al tiempo ya puedes hablarlo con fluidez o hacerte entender relativamente bien.
Always come back to this
I remember my old firend during 90s. He invited me to his house to see him perform this licks. He did it and it made me hail him as a bluesman. Sadly he died few years later during his gig out of the country. Missed hom so.
Wow man, thanks to you i found the inspiration to pick up my guitar and sell it cause im garbage
lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why not practice instead of being a sore pathetic loser
@@bluesyace9564 it's a joke bruh
I was expecting the punchline, still laughed so hard, because I was like that Spongebob meme as well " Right, Imma sell my guitar" :D
Thats cute. But can you play enter crazy sandman smoke on the hot for teacher seven nation iron man
Vay be
Done!
Justin why? 🤨
@@user-ow3od5jh1g perfectly ok. It is TH-cam ,after all.
The song to end all songs
This is like hearing Steve Vai all over again.
I have loved this solo for 30+ years
You are the second guy ever I heard to pull it off perfectly.
The first used to be a guitarist from AlcoholicA, dunno if hes still with them was 20+ years back.
Amazing!
Excellent. Love the way he hits the switch and goes into warp speed in one fluid motion, amazing!!!
if you wanna really impress me do it without strings...!
Nah dude, do it without his guitar
Do it while fucking my wife who is leaving me for this guy after seeing him play.
Nah dudes, do it on Guitar Hero Controller
Do it without any fingers. Ha!
Do it on a fretless guitar lol
that was amazing bruh. great job
But you're a great public servant auditor! Bet he can't do that! lol
not really, sloppy articulation compared to a standard classical player
@@rickacton7540 my man is blindfolded and he still did great
@@liamfavre3547 not really. sloppy articulation and monotone dynamics.
Can I see your ID
Amazing, I feel motivated to practice even more. Thanks man!
Still makes my hair stand up 25 years later.
This is the best version ive seen, and trust me ive seen every cover of this on youtube from the best to worst. Couldnt be better without the blindfold. No one can play that harmonic after hitting all the E's like you can. Also the way you catch those frets when you shifting octaves is insane. I can close my eyes and play the beginning of that section poorly, but i cant believe your accuracy. Over the past year i think ive watched this video 100 times
it is truly awesome and i do suspect it may have been pre recorded and this is a play through
Look up Matteo Mancuso. You might just change your mind. This is great but Matteo is next level.
Okay, now do it with the lights turned off
Dhruv Erry lol but u cant see him
And no pants
Dhruv Erry that's the joke
That's the joke.
That’s what she said.
This is just incredible, awesome job!
Got to be the most beautiful LP ever. Great job, sir.
there are a lot of blindfolded video in xxx sites.....but this is way better
One of the best comments I have seen
@@debashishmitra Hear hear!
If youve seen one Virtuoso, you've seen them all!
Reporter: how do you play better? With eyes open or closed.
Fredrick: yes
it doesn't matter , he knows every chord and note that comes from every fret, I'm about half way there after playing for over 35 years :[) LoL damn''''
That was simply excellent! Well done.
That was just on another level, awesome. Wow.
Boy I bet that took a million plus hours to memorize a lot of hard work went into that good job.
craig howard how much do you wana bet?
Tons of blind people play guitar.
Justin Conn guess who's more used to playing without looking
Jacques Malan not really anyone who plays guitar long enough doesn’t need to look at their fretboard. This is just a gimmick to get views but either way it was a good cover and he was smart getting people to click it
BenG Yes I think the hardest part is when he skips half the fretboard and jumps from like the 5th to the 12th fret. This song has very much of those "jumps" but you'll even muscle memorize them if you play the piece often enough.
you have a deal with the Devil right?
Yeah, the Devil comes over every Saturday, and then Frederik teaches him.
Jari Satta hahaha!!
12 to 4 am
The devil sold his soul to Frederick
Amazing my friend!!! There is no doubt that you not only play the guitar but you feel the music and it runs through your veins!!!
Steve is awesome - truly amazing!
Might have been able to play like this but unfortunately sold my soul earlier... now just a low level guitarist
Thanks for today’s humbling moment, Stay Well...
dude....you are seriously amazing...thats hard as hell to play with seeing... Damn man, you inspired the hell outta me just watching this,
Fantastic. I’d have been glued to the fingerboard. Amazing.
Absolutely amazing.
That was the smoothest eugenes trick back man , well done ! Great job
Very very very incredibly well done. & The blindfold is a nice touch.
Feel is feel....
Even with extreme guitar skill this must have taken you a considerable amount of time to perfect. Thank you for this!
I appreciate that he plays it on a LP and without tons of distortion. Well done.

I rarely ever see anyone play this live and never that well. Kudos!
Bro do you know what live means?
@@ButterBallTheOpossum Yes. Just because this was recorded doesn't mean it was edited or faked,
Beautiful! Watched Crossroads in the Cinema at local debut day, next day bought the album. But just recently recatched on different rendations on this signature piece - and this version is the perfect one! ❤
First time watch on this channel and instant fan. Keep up the nice work. Pretty nice that is! ❤
Beyond incredible, no way to top that.
Frederik! Great work. You nailed it (only 2 wrong notes). I would never attempt this blindfolded. Really great job. It's always so inspiring to me when I see people who love the instrument play any of my material. Thanks for putting the time in. Outstanding! Steve Vai
I'm not so sure that's the real Steve Vai lol
i love it when people have 2 accounts :D
@@SchizoetryOfficial kinda would have the verification deffo steve vai would have way more than 300 subs - this was made to fake the comment
@@mcfcguvnors I know it seems odd but I am Vai. I enjoy seeing others play my music and comment sometimes to give encouragement. I can understand why you think I would be a fake.

Хорошая работа, аплодисменты мастеру👏👏👏
You can tell how often he practices this gem of a solo! Badass!
Awesome man. Just awesome. Thanks for sharing. After seeing this, I must say Ralph Macchio did a descent job of mimicking the part.
You inspire me 🎸💯🔥
Well now that I've changed my shorts, well done! I practice 2-3 hours a day, 7 days a week and I can't play it without a blindfold. Very inspiring!
That is technical prowess on a level I can only observe...that is so far out of my paradigm! I'm astonished!
You killed it! EXCELLENT!
Dude!! My guitar teacher taught me this song, you played it perfectly, It will be hardly erased from my mind!! XD I enjoyed the video
Only a Jedi can do this!
In reality, a Jedi could play this without fingers, using the Force to play the notes, thus fingers don't have to touch the strings. Yet, both are the art of practice
No; a Sith.
The Force is strong with this one...
Maybe Quigon Vai killed a Jedi?
Absolutely incredible bro 👏
Well that was brilliant... Applause! 👏👏👏
Ho whuuut! Great job man!
"The Louisiana voodoo charm, the winning boys magic..." ~Crossroads
I think it was 'the winning man's Mojo' , but I'm not completely sure...
I'm speechless! That was excellent!
thank you!
Some interstellar portal has opened right before the last note faded out...you are phenomenal, bro.
I've seen this guy on PBS. He's an incredible master guitarist.
Sorprendente, mis respetos y felicitaciones!....
Best cover of Eugene's Track Bag I've heard so far. Well done.
Absolutely 💯 % Astounding
Bravo 👏 👏 👏 Steve
The way you switch to pinch harmonics so seamlessly is just astounding.
Am I missing something? Where are the pinch harmonics?
@@YTOnceAgain They're in the last high notes, which obviously can't be done on a 23 fret guitar
I love Panini with Ham and Swiss
Now this is something 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Gotta practice now
Dude you're amazing ❤
NO GUITAR FACE!!!!
0 POINTS!!!!
Jokes aside, that is super impressive. Great job.
legit idk how you can't do this with no expression its literally the best piece to me in guitar history atleast for a solo.
You hit the phrasing and tone perfectly, that's another level
Great balls of fire, that was amazing!
Immaculate. I wonder how many thousands of times he played this. Absolutely perfect.
I love your channel, highly underrated guitarist. Till 0:16 I thought, well I can do that blindfolded, after which, well lets say, I just froze. A lot of practice clearly.
Are we all gonna ignore that awesome Gibson les Paul supreme? It’s amazing
OREOS _ it's basically a Les Paul standard with a little bit fancier finish and inlay.
Ikhsan Hasbi and a lot more overpriced too
OREOS _ it's not a gibson if it's not overpriced.
Ikhsan Hasbi hahaha true

I think I once saw a Gibson SG 2018 model at guitar center for $500, idk if it’s because it’s a bad guitar or Gibson is desperate from not going bankrupt
Frickin outrageous!
Congratulations !!! Great interpretation
thanks!
I will stop playing guitar
Modern Savage25 guess what. he was serious. No sarcasm in this comment section.
Lol! Funny! But please don’t quit 👌🏻👌🏻
same here, fuck this lmao
why!? these should motivate you instead of discouraging. atleast for me...
@Kirishima real musicians! :) not the new wave room guitarists... -_-
That was unbelievable!
this never gets old lol. love it
i've just realised that, in the movie, Eugene is playing the Paganini 5th Caprice, and Niccolo Paganini is known to be connected with the devil. So, Eugene wons a battle with the devil by playing the devil's songs.
All these years later, blowin my mind man!
You have to fight fire with fire
Really, this is the best that Paganini is known for?

Jesus Christ. Every time I watch this after I watch the final battle of Crossroads, it never fails to amaze me. I end up always going down the Paganini rabbit hole and never end up disappointed. Still, I always watch this because its so amazing, and just sort of a litmus of what to expect when hearing the music played. Perfection.
