    Could I use an external HDD connected via USB to my dock to set batocera?

    • @Loaded0
      @Loaded0  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yup, that should work fine as long as it’s recognized as a startup media. Some docks might have trouble with that and it won’t show in the boot menu though.

      Thanks for watching. It’s a bit outdated now, but the process should still be the same.

    Hi thank you for the video
    What about if you want to boot from an inserted micro as card?

    • @Loaded0
      @Loaded0  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s all the same process actually. Just know that an SD card could be slower than a good USB 3 drive so loading may take longer. After it loads it should be fine though.

    Why use winscp? in windows file explorer just type //batocera and you can connect that way and easily copy files across.

      I didn’t even think about that. Nice to know. I was just following what they suggested for the video and it’ll work for other platforms too.

      Mac Finder also sees the Batocera volume without any additional software also. Connection is a bit flaky though, maybe additional software will improve it. I haven't really explored it much.

      I did get a new MacBook so I’ll try it. A physical connection is so much faster to transfer.

      windows explorer did not work for me. Any way to get it to work?

    • @Loaded0

      Windows explorer might not work well depending on how your network is setup due to firewalls or public/private settings. If it doesn’t work, it might be easier just to use winscp or another ftp program than trying to get it to work.

    The last part of the transfer files on steam deck don't work.

    • @Loaded0
      @Loaded0  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you remember what part? It could be the password wasn’t set or even a typo on the command prompt. Really the easier method is ftp though as long as your on the same network.

    Thanks for the tips man! My issue is: when Batocera USB boots the screen shows in portrait mode, not landscape as expected. Do you know how to fix it please?

    • @Loaded0
      @Loaded0  ปีที่แล้ว

      It does show in portrait mode on startup, but should switch to landscape automatically once it reaches the batocera menu. Did you use the Steam Deck version of batocera? The PC version might not switch to landscape mode.

    where do you get the bios files, are those we need to find ourself?

    • @Loaded0
      @Loaded0  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure of the legality of it, but seems like people avoid telling where to get them. Easy to find if you Google it though. Also a lot of systems don’t require bios files at all.

    Any idea why my crucial ssd is not recognized? Tried 3 different cords and external is a brand new flashed drive

    • @Loaded0
      @Loaded0  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean it's not showing in etcher? First make sure that the SSD is mounted when you plug it in. Then click on "show hidden drives" in etcher where you select the target. It might be hidden because it thinks it's a system drive. Just be careful to choose the right one.

    • @elrey8143
      @elrey8143 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Loaded0it’s found on etcher it was successful in putting image on ssd but when plugged into steam deck it won’t show the ssd when I press volume - and power as a bootable source I know image is there bc I see all the files on steam deck in dock mode any idea? Does it have to be fat 32 before I use etcher?

    • @Loaded0
      @Loaded0  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could be a lot of things. I don’t think it has to be a certain file format before using etcher because etcher changes the format. It could be you have an extra partition from before and it’s not detecting it as a boot drive. Make sure it’s all one partition before using etcher.
      If you’re using an enclosure for the SSD it could be that not getting enough power on startup or not mounting fast enough.

    which file format was your SD card before flashing?

    • @Loaded0
      @Loaded0  ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually use exFAT for my usb drives since I have a lot of different operating systems. Batocera is Linux based though so it’ll change to ext4 after flashing I think.

      Is there a way to install into internal (replacing SteamOS)?

    • @Loaded0
      @Loaded0  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can. Once you get Batocera running from an external drive or SD card you can choose to install it to the internal drive. I don’t recommend this though since it works well on external drives and you may need SteamOS for firmware updates.

    Bro will make a long term user review for the dell g15 u have?

    • @Loaded0
      @Loaded0  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I probably will eventually. I still use it and it’s my main device for pc gaming besides the Steam Deck. I’ve had some issues with drivers and brightness controls not working but that’s probably a Windows thing so I do have things to talk about.

    • @fanatiquefantastique8516
      @fanatiquefantastique8516 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Loaded0 I have the same issue right now. The latest Nvidia driver update locks the brightness to 100% with no option of changing it. Did you fix the issue by downgrading drivers? If not, how else?

    • @Loaded0
      @Loaded0  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did eventually fix it by downgrading the drivers. If you want to use the latest drivers though I found the brightness worked when I turned off the hybrid graphics (if your model has the mux switch). Sounds like a conflict between two gpus is what’s causing it, but not sure who needs to issue an update between Microsoft, AMD, and Nvidia to fix this.
