On June 16, an intruding swift entered the nest and attacked the two chicks occupying it, who were 26 days old, causing the death of one chick and injuries to the other ( • Drama en el nido urban... ). Three days later, it returned to finish the job, killing the second chick. The next day, the camera recorded this scene. The pair enters and spends several hours carefully inspecting the space behind the shutter and the nest. Is the male perhaps showing the female the conquered territory for her approval?
The truth is that much is still unknown about the private life of swifts, birds that are unique for numerous and varied reasons, and this type of camera gives us the opportunity to observe behaviors that would otherwise be impossible to know, in a completely non-intrusive way and therefore without altering them.
