Here is detailed information about Anayirankal dam. The name "Anayirankal" means the place where elephants come down.🐘😍
If you're staying in Munnar, it will take around 1 hour to reach this village. From Suryanelli, it will take around 30-40 minutes, so it's better to stay in Suryanelli.🌴
Anayirankal Dam is surrounded by tea plantations, so you will have to ask the locals for the route to see the lake up close. You will need to go a little off the beaten path to see the view that we saw. It's better to explore this village with locals, as elephants might come to the lake to drink water.😍❤

Guys...camping out near forested areas of Kerala is gambling with life. There have actually been a case of a girl who camped in a private property and got trampled by elephants.The only place you can camp, is in areas protected by forest department, where they will have elephant trenches dug around the camping site, to keep the elephants out. You'll have to book with forest department for those treks and there'll be an armed guide with you. Though I'm from Kerala, I only got to camp overnight after going to Maharashtra. The forest edge here in Kerala is infested with elephants, tigers and wild boars.
