  • With Japan discarding all covid related procedures in May 2023, and a looming 70% increase in JR Pass prices coming this Fall, it was time to head back to Japan for another quick visit. This video will showcase my 3 favorite day trips out of Osaka with an extreme option for our bonus trip.
All locations are stunning regardless of whether you are basking in the spring cherry blossoms, the lush summer vegetation or the jaw dropping fall scenery. It is also worth noting that while they can be done as day trips you could spend several days at each of the locations in question. This is especially the case with Lake Biwa and Aso.

There are a lot of stairs to climb in Japan. I am slowly chipping away at the rest and I greatly appreciate your time, patience and support as a result :)!

Thank you for making this video. Myself and some friends are planning to visit Japan soon and this video was perfect for our research and planning.
But apart from the personal usefulness, this video is so well made and everything is explained perfectly. Excellent video

what backpack did you use in your videos of you walking in Kyoto?

Mountain Warehouse extreme expedition 33l rucksack. Nothing fancy but I am quite happy with the layout, bladder system, hard foam back without the need for internal frame and overall comfort.

ironically I booked the exact same hotel that you recommended in Osaka. But then after listening to your video, I'm wondering whether I shouldn't have booked a hotel in the Dotonburi (?) district because it seems a lot more active and fun. I'll do a little more research I like high energy places, but I also like the access to the bullet train like you suggested.
