Hey Chris, We got the Eclipse coming up soon. I'd strongly suggest/recommend a livestream next all about that and the travel tips people will need for this once in a lifetime major event!
Hey, here’s an idea for you people who like taking pictures and upload them to social media. Please come to San Francisco and take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge. There are many places throughout San Francisco and Southern Marin County (which most of Southern Marin County belongs to the National Park Service so it’s owned by the United States taxpayer) to take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge so you can find places where you are NOT going to be in the locals way. The Golden Gate Bridge and the surrounding area are amongst some of the most beautiful in the world. You can take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge because it’s an inanimate object and has been world famous for over 80 years now. Or you can take pictures of the trees, plants, and buildings in either Golden Gate Park in San Francisco or Central Park in New York. There are so manny places and inanimate objects to take pictures of that you don’t need to ever go out of your way to take pictures of people. Especially people who are very much different than you. The Geisha’s are not a traveling Circus, objects, or individuals who are there just for your enjoyment but are people who want respect and need to be treated as such. They also want their privacy and don’t want people to take pictures of them all of the time. How would you feel if you had people taking pictures of you all of the time. Not great and this is generally especially true if you are not famous. So treat these individuals with respect and don’t take pictures of them. There are many pictures online or in old issues of National Geographic Magazine of the Geishas anyway so you don’t need to take any pictures of them. So again please come to San Francisco and take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge. Edit: If you want to go and travel somewhere please come to the San Francisco Bay Area. They are still many great places to come and visit that are not overran with homeless individuals. tourism in San Francisco is still below pre pandemic levels and will not recover for at least a few more years. I mean with downtown dying and the homeless problem making national and international news tourism will remain down. However not all of the Bay Area is that way and it’s still a great place to come and visit. Edit 2: If you have never been to San Francisco it’s okay to go to Fisherman’s wharf because it’s a great starting place for tourists if you have never been to San Francisco. There are a lot of fun things to do and an In-N-Out if you have never eaten there before or if you have and you are in the mood for a burger from there. Local’s generally skip Fisherman’s Wharf unless they want to play tourist, but if you have never been to San Francisco then Fishermen’s Wharf is the place to go.
Finally catching up with this video late. Thought it was funny that you mentioned how overpriced the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise was in June because that’s when I’m going. We are staying 5 nights at Moose Hotel then switching to the Fairmont for the last 2 nights since it’s so expensive and used Amex points as well. Hope it’s worth it!!!
Tourism in Banff exploded during the pandemic and continues to be very strong. You can't even drive yourself to Lake Louise anymore, as you'll have to take the shuttle bus from Banff. However, you can rent a canoe to paddle on the lake, if you don't mind shelling out $145 CAD for 30 minutes. Canmore is a less expensive alternative. It's just outside the national park and only a 15 minute drive away. I recommend the Malcolm hotel.
Also there is a daily resort fee on top of the daily rate at the Fairmont Banff Springs. Just got back from a ski holiday there. Much cheaper to stay there in the winter.
Hi Chris, I agree with many of the points you raised. Even in Japan the hotel rate is getting ridiculous. You can’t stay at Tokyu Inn for $50 anymore. It can get $200 or more on weekends 😢 I would go on a weekend domestic travel a lot but I can’t do it so casually as before because of the price.
I can do without the ridiculous resort fees that you can't opt out of for services I would never use. Couple that with the rising room rates, and outrageous daily hotel parking fees with mandatory valet parking and it's a TOTAL scam. Very discouraging.
Train stations have been fantastic for food service in Japan for years. That’s a big deal to get an ekiben or 2 plus some drinks and snacks to enjoy during your train journey.
Good video. I am 47 and never been on a train. I looked a few years ago and nothing good in my area (very northern CA). Maybe one day I will find a good train experience worth booking.
Hubby used to live in Banff, so we’ve got a million lesser known stuff if you ever want. If I have to pick one, Vermilion Lakes is just before you enter Banff proper, and always has less tourists in the summer. That’s because that perfectly reflective lake is also a breeding ground for mosquitos. Worth at least a drive by. Go at sunrise to avoid bites, and geek out at all the professional photographer toys. Go have so much fun! You’ve picked a hotel we always explore even when we don’t stay there.
On KLM today they included a message about not photographing or filming anyone on the plane without the person's consent. I'd like to see that become industry-wide.
I agree with u 1,000% on the boring rooms! I ❤️ fun, colorful rooms! When I was in Vegas in February I enjoyed the older "Go Room" at Flamingo......bright white plastic headboards, white & gray marble tables, white 50s style dressers, hot pink bathroom bulb lights above the bed & a cute mint green Flamingo lamp made it feel like Dean Martin's crew designed it themselves!!! Tacky yes, but I thought it was great!! 😊
I live in Calgary! Let me know if you need any tips or suggestions. Hopefully your trip to Banff isn't this week... Snow coming Wednesday and due to last a few days.
Tourist only go to Banff in the summer because it is too cold in the other season. Therefore the hotels are so expensive and they only do business for a few months.
I'm a bit late to watching. But, about disney not being as magical. Def check out the parks in other countries. Haven't been to Euro or Hong Kong yet but Tokyo Disney was a blast and super reasonable. Still had that same old vibe to me especially since it was so "new" to me.
I wonder if bus seats isn't even better than those seats on Airlines. Doesn't look so comfortable for you. Especially if it's a long flight. Ouch, ouch. Lots of back pain.😅
I would like to see more cheap hotel in Europe and North America. I have a planned trip to Seoul, Pusan and Fukuoka and the hotel was $20 per person per night and everyone got an own room. That is a good price. I would like to see more capsule hotel in Europe and North America, the thing is that I just want a bed and a room for myself, I dont need any extra, so for me capsule hotel is ok because then i get like a room for myself and a cover to close. But i don't like hostels with many beds in the same room

Trash on Mt. Fuji… disgraceful. On the plus side: this might make it the only place where there is trash (on the street) in Japan 😅 (isn’t it nice how clean Japan generally is? 🥰)

😢 hi Chris, this is Colin. I just watched your video just a little bit ago. Wanted the things, I would love to see in the future, is Brightline, the train that rams from Orlando to Miami, Florida, have Brightline plus implement Motorcoach transportation that can transport gas from the Orlando Amtrak station. Also have Brightline trains stop at the Orlando Amtrak station when they leave Orlando, International Airport, MCO, and have Bright line plus pick them up at the train station, after Amtrak passengers, arrive from New York, and Miami, and have those motorcoach buses take gas from that station to all Walt, Disney World, Resorts, Walt, Disney World Swan&Dolphin, Resort, Disney Springs, Area, hotels, all good neighbor, hotels, international Drive, freezer area hotels, Universal, Orlando, Resort, hotels, Port, Canaveral, cruise terminal, and Cocoa Beach area hotels. They should also have an automated system inside the station that should say ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention, please? If you are going to all Walt, Disney World, Resorts, please go to slot a one through 28. If you’re going to Walt, Disney World Swan&Dolphin, Resort, and Disney Springs area, Hotels, please go to slot B one through eight. If you’re going to Port Canaveral Cruise, terminal, or Cocoa Beach area, Hotels, please go to slot C 1 through 15. If you’re going to, Universal, Orlando, Resort, in international Drive area Hotels, please go to slot D1 through 30. If you’re going to park Canaveral Cruise terminal, please go to slot E1 through 10 and have the automated system assigned the number for the buses that are going the direction also want to let you know, Disney World no longer has magical Xpress that has ended since January 1, 2022 because that service has been providing complementary transportation since 2005, and Magical express with ran by mirror. Now, it is Mears Connect. And they also did the Sunshine Flyer for a while up until August 1 of last year so now it is Mears Connect driven by Sunshine so just wanted to share that with you where it’s going from all letters a through E. That’s for the Brightline plus. For Amtrak plus, same thing motor Coast, transportation to, and from all Walt Disney World resort, and all other resorts that I just mentioned, including the port, Canaveral cruise terminal for Disney, Cruise, Line, and all other cruise lines, and then, after the cruise, the port Canaveral cruise terminal should have a check-in desk to wear after you collect your luggage, and after you go through Custom, you should check in at the desk for your Motorcoach transportation back to the Orlando Amtrak station to catch the 1:36 PM train back north to Washington DC and New York City and have Train depart after 12 o’clock noon to allow enough time to get off the ship and go through customs. So just wanted to share that with you and also, I have called Hotels about them trying to bring back Shuttle Service, and they said no we’re not doing that ever since Covid we have stopped doing that, but, I think they should have some kind of a Coach bus that can transport gas from the airport, train station, and bus station to provide transportation to all major hotels that are close by the airport, train station and bus station have a Motorcoach spots to all of that in every city and state, including Washington DC so just to give you a heads up
😢 hi Chris, it’s Colin again. Just to let you know the hotel that I’m talking about that used to provide. Shuttle Service pre-Covid, there are no longer doing it now because of Covid, those are the ones On talking about are the ones that should look into providing a Coach box that would transport gas from the airport, bus station, and the train station, to all of those hotels that used to provide Shuttle Service pre-Covid so that’s what I’m talking about is providing a coach spot that would have a luggage compartment underneath the bus so you can put your luggage underneath, and then, when you get to the resort, they can unload the luggage for you, hand it to you, when you take it with you to check into your room. And then, when you’re ready to get picked up, there should be a phone number for the company that’s got to operate the Coach spot from the airport, bus station, then the train station that you can call and let them know what time your train leaves or Bark leaves, or Flight leaves, and Tom, what time do you need to be there to allow enough time to check in and when to come to the airport, then ask, what airline are you flying, not kind of thing, and when it comes to the Amtrak station, they should ask what time does the train leave? And same thing with the bus so they can make sure that you arrive with enough time to get checked in before boarding so just to let so once again, just to let you know, this is just in case if the Hotels that used to provide, Shuttle Service pre-Covid to and from the airport, bus station, and train station, if they don’t bring those back, they should look in the implementing a coach box that will do all of that for them. Hotels that have already brought Shuttle Service back, don’t have to worry about that. Hotels that are planning on implementing Shuttle Service in the future, don’t have to worry about that when either, but this is just in case yeah, hotels are not able to plan on bringing their Shuttle Service back They should look into implementing a coach bus like a 56 passenger bus that will be able to do all of that for them you know. what I mean is all the transfer for them from the airport, train station, and bus station in every city and state, including Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
i hate in japan that if you stayed in a hotel room for more than like 3/4 days they only did housekeeping once for the whole time??? like what about toilet paper and trash?
i stayed at a few hotels like hotel groove in shinjuku that didn't do housekeeping everyday since I was staying there for 5+ days :(@@YellowProductions
And it gets pretty awkward standing naked in the shower while they fill up those bottles!😁 Give me a scentless bar of soap! The exchange rate in Japan is so good now that we booked a trip to Kyoto next month. I like corporate hotels. I've stayed in my share of quirky boutique hotes and they charge a lot for the "boutique" and have things that just don't work for me. Many are in converted buildings, old! Doors/windows don't always align = bugs in tropical places. Creaky noises on old wooden floors. No high rooms = noisy. May just be me..🤷 You have huge feet and a small bladder?? Calgary. Remember to go to Chinatown complex and find the Rainbow bakery on the ground level, and buy the "wife cake". Lo po bang. It's the best!
The little soaps are wasteful. The better solution might be soap sheets, rather than wall mounted soap and shampoo. Airplane seats are horrible if in economy and prices keep going up in all classes. We need some disruption in these industries. It’s only a matter of time.
Amazon recommended a guidebook to me a couple months ago, it was "Hawaii Big Island" (note Hawaii and Big were on the first line, Island on the second line, so text was weird to start with) and the image was clearly of Santorini! I just thought this was the worst guidebook writer ever, but now I realize it was AI (an AI with very low I). I mean, use AI to help you do something sure, but do you not at least LOOK at what AI produced to see if it's correct?? I guess not.
Trains > planes? When I heard that certain Western European countries were canning short distance flights in favour of trains for ideological reasons, my brain exploded! Luckily those countries are of no interest to me. I live on an island in the South Pacific, planes are really important if you want to go anywhere! LOL
Room cleaning? Yeah, I could do with less frequency, but I’m totally with you, that paying more for less isn’t a great value preposition. Seats: as a tall guy, I’d like to see seats that are like on some German trains: if you want to angle your backrest, you don’t decline it into another’s space. You slide the seating cushion forward, so you pay the price for the angle you want, not anyone else. (But probably too heavy anyway and I guess I am for some reason on the minority, when I am against being reclined into) Ugly travelers… well, some people are a*holes. And since people travel, a*holes travel as well. Hotels: I feel that especially NYC hotel prices went crazy. It was a pretty decent option for many years, but since 2021 or 2022, I really don’t like the prices anymore. Japan, yes, pretty good once your there (I feel flight prices from Europe went crazy there 🫤) Hotel rooms: I don’t care, but I have friends who always look for something fancy… Texas style (in Germany), nautical, anything but normal. AI Chatbots, gosh… I don’t think I ever came across a good one yet. Train Travel: I like the idea, I hate most of the prices for the cool trips Quiet travel. Yes please. Make it as quiet as a Japanese train.

Get out of hotels and do Airbnb or VRBO. I quit hotels years ago.
Same, I want a hob or oven, and a fridge etc when I stay overseas, I don't want cleaners coming in as I can clean my own place.
i hate in japan that if you stayed in a hotel room for more than like 3/4 days they only did housekeeping once for the whole time??? like what about toilet paper and trash?
Hmm. I've found in the hotels I've stayed at in Japan they do housekeeping every day
i stayed at a few hotels like hotel groove in shinjuku that didn't do housekeeping everyday since I was staying there for 5+ days :(@@YellowProductions
I find it sadistically satisfying to confuse the chatbots by typing gibberish over and over again until it forces a person to take over.
Hah
And it gets pretty awkward standing naked in the shower while they fill up those bottles!😁 Give me a scentless bar of soap!
The exchange rate in Japan is so good now that we booked a trip to Kyoto next month.
I like corporate hotels. I've stayed in my share of quirky boutique hotes and they charge a lot for the "boutique" and have things that just don't work for me. Many are in converted buildings, old! Doors/windows don't always align = bugs in tropical places. Creaky noises on old wooden floors. No high rooms = noisy. May just be me..🤷
You have huge feet and a small bladder??
Calgary. Remember to go to Chinatown complex and find the Rainbow bakery on the ground level, and buy the "wife cake". Lo po bang. It's the best!
Enjoy Kyoto Darryl!
#BonusTerm - "skimpflation" - Same price (or higher price), but less service. :/
Oh wow
Trains > planes? When I heard that certain Western European countries were canning short distance flights in favour of trains for ideological reasons, my brain exploded! Luckily those countries are of no interest to me.
I live on an island in the South Pacific, planes are really important if you want to go anywhere! LOL
Hah. Yeah. In New Zealand you're not taking a train very far 😀
👍
The american with disability act has changed things too😊❤
I do not mind the color of the room but I cannnot stand they do not clean the room.
Hmmm
I generally don't want them coming into my room every day to clean it. I usually put a do not disturb sign on the door so they leave it alone.
You said the swear word - you should have said GovId OR Goldvld!
Clean and neutral is considered modern and stylish. I hope this trend leaves soon, so boring and lacking personality
👍
#1 Boeings stop failing.
(But probably too heavy anyway and I guess I am for some reason on the minority, when I am against being reclined into)
Ugly travelers… well, some people are a*holes. And since people travel, a*holes travel as well.
Hotels: I feel that especially NYC hotel prices went crazy. It was a pretty decent option for many years, but since 2021 or 2022, I really don’t like the prices anymore. Japan, yes, pretty good once your there (I feel flight prices from Europe went crazy there 🫤)
Hotel rooms: I don’t care, but I have friends who always look for something fancy… Texas style (in Germany), nautical, anything but normal.
AI Chatbots, gosh… I don’t think I ever came across a good one yet.
Train Travel: I like the idea, I hate most of the prices for the cool trips
Quiet travel. Yes please. Make it as quiet as a Japanese train.
